Physical Description: Standing in an average 5'6'' tall, Lola’s remarkable feature are her big, vivid eyes of a mysterious tone of hazel rounded by a greyish circle in the outer part of the iris. Her thick, and yet well designed eyebrows, just add more expression to her look. She has full lips and round nose; oval face and prominent cheekbones - but all well pictured, framed by waved dark hair with medium length, that she likes to use down every time she cans, which is not really often though, so she is more seen with buns and pony tails.
Being a ballerina and training hard since childhood, Lola’s body is well built. She has a perfect posture and all her gesture and movements are gracious by nature. So even when she’s free to act spontaneously she will do it in an elegant and feminine way.
Lola definitely will always, always be seen wearing perfect aligned clothes, with her hair perfectly tidy up and her face perfectly enhanced by the right make up - which would be mascara and a smooth eyeshadow; a hint of blush on the cheeks and a discrete lip gloss for her daily basis. Luckily free from acne and dark circles, she doesn’t have anything to conceal on her olive skin.
She acts all the way as someone sure of herself despite of her internal undecided nature. She has a warm and funny aura that can be attractive or repellent - depends on the eye of the beholder. To those who competitiveness led to feel threatened by anyone who is equally bold, courageous and never denies a challenge, Lola’s ability to be all that and yet congenial and yielding at the same time could be something really antipathetic, to say the least. But to those who can stand all her energy, Lola can be a really interesting and captivating girl.
It’s hard to take her smile off her face because she strongly believes that show herself as someone always confident, happy and positive is essential to her career and life. She also believes that she must be nice and kind to everyone – at least until someone step on her toes; with a heat nature, she's able to explode in the same proportion as she can be lovely and charming.
Personality Description: It is not easy to be Madame Fontaine’s daughter. Specially when you are the one that must carry all her hopes and expectations on your shoulders. This is Lola’s reality since she gave her first steps - and her mother was already waiting for her to start making pirouettes, jumps and pliés. The delicate physical condition of Cécile, her younger sister, among other factors led all Manon’s attention to Élodie, the older, for she was the only one who could make her dreams come true.
Even being a rather cruel thing trying to find realization exclusively over your daughter’s accomplishes, Manon always defended herself alleging she was building a solid career and a successful life for her child. That indeed taught Lola a lot about training discipline and she truly developed a wholeheartedly passion on dancing and being in the center of stage. But it led the girl to turn against her own mother at a young age as well, and even being unable of truly fight back to defend herself and, most specially, her sister; Lola is the only one who can still confront Manon.
Obviously, the kind of education she received also left much to desire emotionally speaking. This didn’t turn Lola into a cold, distant person; on the opposite, she tries hard to create bonds, which is one of the reasons why she’s so into pleasing people. The importance of being accepted and loved, as it denotes lack of self-confidence and feeling of inferiority, isn't entirely clear to Lola's mind and she would never assume this weakness to anyone, not even to her sister – at least not verbally.
Her way to deny it to her inner self is being competitive as her mother taught her. When it comes to ballet or any physical activity she must be the first and won’t rest until get there. She has an inexhaustible source of energy and is capable of training hours and hours non-stop. Lola doesn’t have the same disposition to study, though; and besides her natural ability with wandwork and potions, magical theory isn’t her forte and she keeps forgetting spells and charms. If it wasn’t for Cécile, her academic performance would be just average - or below that.
Cici is almost her twin sister, not only for the little time separating their births (despite of Cici's looks) but also because they created a kind of unity. Carrying the burden of being Manon’s daughter brought they two inseparably together. Since childhood, Lola and Cici count on each other absolutely and their relation is the only thing closer to a family they have. Today, being Cici more mature than Lola, she’s the one who takes care over some issues - like Lola’s laziness to study - and reminds her of some boundaries, playing the role of the voice of reason, which is lovingly accepted just because it's Cici doing that. Anyone else would be seen as merely bossy.
Having Cici's protection to not disappoint with her grades nor fall into some excesses she tends to do when not supervised, as a way to try to compensate for her austere childhood; Lola feels in need to protect her younger sister as well. Everything she has and gains is promptly shared with her and every time Cici gets sick, Lola is there to take care and make everything she cans to help. As Manon blatantly dislikes the younger, she feels that it's her duty to stand for her sister no matter what.
All of her endless energy and disposition to be the best and never ever let anyone knows about her weaknesses or bad moments come from a strong will to prove that she can achieve all of her own dreams without her mother. Besides her ambitions and strong temper when confronted consequently make her resembles Manon in some points, Élodie is capable of be a warm, loyal and devoted friend to anyone that is open to that.
History: Élodie was born to Manon Fontaine and Mefodiy Baskt in controversial conditions. Though she was surprisingly welcomed by her mother, Manon was passing through the hardest time of her life – and got harder a month later, when she found herself pregnant again.
The once prodigious ballerina, heiress of a traditionalist Pureblood family, unwittingly started to break her own fall when her path crossed with Mefodiy's. He was a Muggle director known and respected by his talent, but also famous for his dictatorial ways and womanizer behavior. Against her parents she went on her dream of being a famous ballerina; and hid of them – and anyone else eyes -, she lived her affair with Mefodiy in the hope of, at least, stay by his side in secret.
Things didn't work in the way she expected, though. In March 1991 she realized that what was happening to her body all of a sudden – the morning sickness, the gaining weight, the sensitive mood – wasn't a disease, but a pregnancy. A not-so-happy dad to be, Mefodiy sent her to a picturesque city at the base of the Alps called Grenoble to have the baby in secret, so it wouldn't stain her name and she would still be able to be his prima ballerina. That's when Élodie was born; and as the times wasn't still so dark, it could be told that she had an almost normal family in her first month of life, since Mefodiy went to Grenoble spend some time with the lover and the daughter.
Right on the second month, though, Manon found out she was pregnant. Again. And this time Mefodiy wasn't available to accept that anymore. Cécile was born without a hint of happiness to her mother, and with birth complications. Alone with two little babies, desperate and in seek of revenge against her ex-lover and his actual lover and prima ballerina; Manon left the girls to be raised by her parents in Aix-en-Provance; taking advantage from the secret nature of her relation with Mefodiy to allege they were fruits from a romance with a Pureblood Beauxbaton alumni that disappeared when Cécile were born.
Heading to come back to dance in Mefodiy's company to prove her value just a few weeks after make a c-section obviously wasn't the best choice Manon make. Soon enough she collapsed on stage and, as consequence to her reckless behavior, she could never dance again. All she had left to do was returning to her parents and her daughters, becoming a bitter socialite.
Most of the basic care and education the girls received from their grandparents; at least until Élodie dominate the art of standing on her feet in perfect balance – and run around all the family's propriety with an endless energy, opposed to her sister's fragile condition and low stamina. Manon recognized on her the chance to accomplish her dreams, and directed all her hopes expectations towards the little girl. Long before she could decide for herself, Lola began to take dancing classes and train with her eager mother.
The most talent and disposition she showed, the most Manon's training got harder and harder. She was decided to shape her daughter as the perfect ballerina, not only taking advantage from her natural ability to dance 'till exhaustion; but taking care of all aspects of her life and education as well. Her sleep, her feed, her clothes, her manners; everything was carefully controlled by Manon. Lola was constantly spoiled too, at least when it came about gifts and the quality of everything she wore and used.
This kind of education solid built three things in Élodie: her absolute discipline in bodywork; her passion on dance and her will to protect her sister. Be on stage was what she did better, and grow up to be a prima ballerina became her dream after all. Her energy was all directed to that, and she developed a sense of go on, always farther than her own body seemed to get, ignoring exhaustion and pain just to be the first on her classes and keep being the highest promise to the French dance scene.
As for Cécile, even being so young Lola could notice how unfair her mother treated her. Giving her full attention and the best things to Élodie, Manon seemed to not even consider Cici as her daughter, caring too little about her constant falls into bed sick and her wonderful magical talent. But the older sister didn't ignore it and instead of treat her sibling as nothing more than a silly, tasteless companion; she always looked forward to share everything she had gained and accomplished with Cici and truly admired her abilities, so different from her owns.
Since she learned that she could talk louder to Manon that she wouldn't get punished, Élodie started to standing for her younger sister. Not that it made much difference by the time, once the mother thought that it was just her being childish rebellious; but what she couldn't see was that the girls were creating a bond much tighter between themselves than with their mother. Manon has left a huge gap when it came to emotional nourishing, even with Élodie, so only in each other the girls found it along with the sense of family.
So it was real joy when the time came to them both go to Beauxbatons together. Lola was thankful for be only a few months older than Cici, so them could watch classes together and share dorms. Be on the school meant to her, above all, freedom. Not that she did stop to train as her mother wanted, in fact her routine was pretty much the same except for the classes. But having Manon's presence exclusively via (daily) mails was a breathe of fresh air. Besides, she could enjoy her time with her sister and have fun with other girls always from her mother's infinite list of restrictions.
When, during summer vacations, Manon finally realized that their bond was for real, she got jealous and started to put her claws around Élodie much tighter. If once she talked loud to her mother, she started to scream now in indignation for all she was doing. Still a teenager couldn't do much and what was really capable of affect Manon – leave the Ballet – would rip Lola apart as well. An interesting solution to that came out of nowhere, or so it seemed. Paul, the girls grandfather, gave a precious gift to them - two mirrors handmade by goblins. It didn't served only to appreaciate their own images, as Manon and everyone else believes. The pair of mirrors have the power to let their owners communicate between the images, even when they're apart
[1].
The mirrors. Cici's on the left and Lola's on the right.
It helped Élodie not only to be together with her sister without Manon's interference, but also have Cécile helping her with her grades. She was just an average student, with no time or concentration enough to sit behind a desk and lean above a book for hours like Cici. The younger always tried to help her, but it was only when she was capable of taught her even by distance that Élodie passed to understand some lessons better – and yes, they change hints now and them during exams, but it's absolute secret.
Now on the 7th year as a praised Ballet talent and good student, the opportunity given by the Tetrawizard Tournament to go to Hogwarts, be a Champion and, specially, win the prize made Élodie start training harder and even study harder since the event was announced. She wishes deeply to gain independence, so she could take Cécile and go away from her mother's overbearing, almost maniac demeanor. Nothing would please Lola better than have freedom to live her own life without the suffocating wishes and restrictions of Manon.
How Do You Fit Into Your House?: Élodie is one of the first ballerinas of Beauxbatons with not only a real talent and passion for what she does, but also with a incredible stamina, strength and discipline to any bodywork. Her grades are high as well – thanks to her sister, she doesn't disappoint on her academic performance. Lola's strong will to be a Beauxbatons' Champion and win the competition, so she and Cécile could once for all get rid of their mother's claws, led her to fight to give more than her best to not only do great, but perfect. This won't prevent her to have some fun while in Hogwarts; however, nothing can make her go soft or get distracted when it's hers and Céciles happiness that is in game.
