Physical Description: Jimmy is an average sized guy, standing at 5’10”, and has a well-toned physique, although no one would ever mistake him for a body builder. He has dark brunette hair, thick eyebrows, and, often (if his wife doesn’t have anything else to say about it) a scruffy dark beard. Sea-blue eyes are often either wide-open in excitement or scrunched in laughter. His lips curl upward slightly at the corners, giving his smile a wry look, even when he doesn’t intend it that way.

He has a clear and confident tenor voice, although it sometimes still cracks. His accent is the singsong voice of the far north of America- spoken in the northern Great Lakes areas. He has the rough hands of someone that  uses them for work every day, and a few very specific calluses on his hands could give away his career if one were experienced enough to figure it out.

Personality Description: Though he’s not a total hardass, Jimmy will often call out and embarrass students who don’t live up to his standards. As a result, the students that don’t perform well in sports or other physical activities often do not like him, as they mistake his high standards and brusque manner for favoritism towards the jocks. It’s not a totally off-target assumption; Jimmy tends to treat the students who are at the level he expects them to be at with much more leniencies and a friendlier attitude. It might also be that he relates to them more, and feels that they remind him of himself not so long ago; either way, if polled, it’d be obvious that the jocks think he’s cool and fun while the artier types and nerds think he’s an asshole, mostly because they would end up getting their feelings hurt by him.

However, the above only really applies to boys- he treats all girls more or less the same, and doesn’t hold them to anywhere near the same standards that he holds boys.

While he is a sports nut, he can just as easily spend a whole day flopped on the couch eating Doritos and watching reruns of Seinfeld. Before the birth of his first child, he’d rarely ever spend a night at home, opting to spend most nights at sporting events or out with friends, and returning late.

He is a devoted father, and since the birth of his daughter he has spent his free time with her.

All things sexual embarrass Jimmy, and his biggest dread is having to have “the talk” with his daughter eventually.

History: Jimmy was born in 1977 to Mark and Diane Hart, a roofer and a restaurant manager, respectively. As a young child, he spent a lot of time getting toted around to and from his older brother Clyde’s travel baseball games. He was the middle child of three, and also had a younger sister named Abby.

Growing up, Jimmy spent a lot of time doing boy things- hopping fences, playing sports, and terrorizing his little sister with salamanders and earthworms. He also played little league baseball zealously, and participated in Pop Warner football and hockey. Overall he was more or less average, and his parents paid more attention to his older brother, who was constantly on the road for games.

Jimmy and his family had no idea whatsoever of his magic ability until 1988, when a SWIM official came to his home to give them the news.  Though they were skeptical, his parents gave him their blessing and he was elated to go, as he thought it’d be far more exciting than the dull drudgery of the muggle school he was attending.

The school was a huge difference from what he was used to- he was from a small town near the Canadian border, a town that spent the winter under feet of snow and where everyone spoke “Minnesota Nice.” Salem, with its regal New England environment, seemed worlds away from Cavalier.

At first, the boy spoke to no one. He was teased for his small stature and his lilting, cheery accent, though no one caused him any physical trouble.

Jimmy performed best at potions, and received average grades in all other subjects. He chose to do his work silently until he was old enough to participate in sports.

Once he began playing sports, there was no stopping Jimmy Hart. The growth spurt that seized him during his second year saw him bigger and stronger, with broader shoulders and facial hair. He breezed through his games with brutal confidence, using his strong form to knock down all who opposed him. His powerful arms made for decisive strokes with the bat and long, arcing, spiraling passes with the ball.

By his sophomore year, Jimmy was fully grown at 5’10” and with the ability to grow a full, darkish beard.  He was intensely strong, able to clothesline Junior School kids with ease.

As an athlete, once he found his confidence, Jimmy spoke in roars on and off the field. He barked orders to his teammates with a dogged natural leadership. When faced with the possibility of defeat, he was able to rally his teammates with heartening words. In particularly harsh quodpot matches, he has been seared in the face (though he was, of course, wearing goggles) by the explosive ball, but continued his fierce pursuits of victory.
Throughout his entire school career, he dated only one girl- Katie McGinty. She was a lithe, brunette girl with dark features and a warm sense of humor. They were steady boyfriend and girlfriend from freshman year on. A Texan, Katie spoke with a soft West Texas accent and called everyone “sug’.”

He led his teams to very successful seasons, and a great deal of championships. After graduating Salem, he considered going to muggle college to pursue professional sports, but decided ultimately to enlist in the muggle military. He and Katie decided not to wait for one another, and split up amiably but bittersweetly.

He served two years in Iraq, and returned to Salem in 1997 to take a job as the assistant athletic director.  After five years in that position- and some very successful  seasons- Jimmy was promoted to athletic director and head quodpot coach following the death of the previous holder of the titles. He has held that position since 2002.

He and Katie got back together in 1999. She had moved to the area to work with a small manticore preserve outside of Boston, and got word of his position at Salem. The two married almost immediately, and Jimmy’s first daughter, May, was born on February 19th, 2006.

Since being promoted, he has settled comfortably into the position. Jimmy knows sports inside and out, and he knows what it takes to excel in dangerous sports like quodpot.

Describe your job duties and how you go about them: He opted to go on the trip to Hogwarts to serve as the trainer for all Salem champions as well as to offer American sports electives to all students participating in the TWT. The students at Salem know him, and know what he expects in terms of work ethic, but the new students won’t know him from Adam. That thought makes him slightly wary, as he relies somewhat on his reputation as a hard-ass to get respect from new students. Without street cred, he might just be some blowhard trying to yell at people about sports they don’t care about.

Elaborate on your expertise in your field: Multiple championships both in inter-hall play and inter-school play. Five years of service as the asst. athletic director. Has been playing sports since birth.

Writing Sample:

Sum up your character in one paragraph: Jimmy is a good guy- honestly- but he has a loud mouth and no time for shenanigans. He can be a bit over-the-top when it comes to competitive spirit, and he will always stand behind his team. However, if he comes across a wimpy kid, he will berate him until they shape up- as a result, a great deal of students find him terrifying/unbearable.
