Yes, it is true, I am she – Orianne Traverse l’artiste grandiose de Beauxbatons. To link the paintings, it is a very tricky charm similar –so my painting instructor says – to runic magic, using your signature as its anchor. But as I said, it is not easy. Even I was not allowed to practice this until last year, as mistakes can be quite painful for the subjects of your work. It is, as I understand it, quite similar to being splinched. Seychelles is a beautiful country, and you need not worry – few people even in Beauxbaton have heard of it. Once, we were bound to both France and England in turn, but even then we were much too small to garner reputation, and since our independence, we keep mostly to ourselves. I have included a few postcards so that you may see for yourself. It is lovely, no?France is quite different. There is much more land, and not nearly so much sea. I am not so fond of Paris – the people there live so tightly packed together that it is most uncomfortable, especially in the places where magic is to be found – but in the southern half of the country, where Beauxbaton Palace stands, is quite beautiful. Many of us in the lycèe – as you would say, the upper years – are able to see the ocean from our bedroom windows. It makes the homesickness not so bad, I think.I am afraid I have never been to the United Kingdom either, so I am very much looking forward to this tournament. Tell me, what is it like in Hogwarts? I have heard that her grounds are as impressive as Beauxbatons. Is it much different from Manchester? And what of London, is it like Paris? I look forward to hearing about it all. In Seychelles, it rains mostly in the autumn and winter, and even then it does not hide the sun. And Beauxbatons is blessed with a temperate climate all year round. Do you not find the weather terrible depressing? I think that I would…Still, at least you have your art to bring you color. You said before that you are a painter? What sort of subjects do you prefer, and which styles? I have heard that Hogwarts, like Beauxbatons, is filled with ancient portraits. Have you ever spoken with them? They can have wonderful advice for artists such as you and I. It is good to listen to your subjects, especially if you have no art courses to provide direction. I must admit, I had not heard that Hogwarts does not offer instruction in literature and the arts. How odd it seems - even Zeburan, the academy that my cousins attend in Madagascar, offers study in literature. What sort of courses do you have, if not these?Nevertheless, my preferred class is Attriats, which I believe that you would call Charms. We devote much time to the wandwork, and it is quite beautiful to see. Is it similar for you?I am afraid that I have never been to the famous Festival, as it is an invitation-only and purely Muggle affair, but there are many in Beauxbatons who follow its events loyally. It’s one of the biggest social events of the season, after all. Older students are allowed to visit the wizarding portions of the city on occasion, and it is an event that is always highly anticipated. I do hope that your rainy weather is not too dreadful, and that you take care so as not to catch a summer cold. Chaleureusement, Skip to next post Re: [22 June-???] A Fan, A Friend?
