Raine raised her eyebrows very slightly as she observed the exchange between her roommate and the shopkeeper, expression lost somewhere between amusement and curiosity. Frankly, she thought that Abby might benefit from sitting in on a Muggle Studies lesson; but then again, it was already clear to her that the Reids weren't that sort of family.

Coins and notes were passed, Raine watching carefully to ensure that the fellow didn't take advantage of Abby's lack of familiarity with muggle money. He seemed aware enough of her wary stare. Mechanically, she accepted the paper bag that was handed to her and turned her head to give the shopkeeper a deferential nod of thanks.

The two girls left the establishment, arms fastened again to confront the crowds, and Raine squinted slightly when the hot Egyptian sun fell across them. "Yes," she answered her friend: "It's a straight line from here." The din of the masses snatched away most of her sentence-- she glanced down at her watch.

They wouldn't be late for the boat ride to Cairo. The Gryffindor smiled to herself and shifted her gaze to the street they were on, a little sad to leave Alexandria. Just when she was getting used to it.
