Auberon is a bit taller than average, and stands at 6'2. In youth he was muscular and broad-shouldered; with the advance of age, even with his remarkable physical health, he's lost much of his mass. His shoulders are still broad, however, and his appearence regal.
His jaw and chin are square and wide, and with age his high cheekbones have become very evident indeed. His wrinkles are beginning to win, and his crow's feet and jowls are quite pronounced. He has a very distinctive set of wrinkles on his forehead, namely two that follow the bridge of his broad, large nose and show up the most when he creases his brow. His eyes are dark brown.
Auberon started going bald very early in life, and while he once wore his brown hair long, what remains of it clings to the edges of his scalp. The rest retreated to his face, and Auberon changes his beard style often, varying widely between stubble and full beard and everywhere inbetween. He often changes these overnight. His eyebrows are thick and bushy.
Really, he has only one remarkable physical feature, and that's his aura.
Auberon carries himself extremely well. He has a loud personality and it is evident just looking at him. He stands tall, his chest puffed out; he waves his hands in broad gestures, and his voice is deep and booming. His laugh can seemingly be heard for miles. All of this is enhanced by his remarkably good health - Auberon is seemingly unkillable via age, and will likely live to be well over a century old. He's muscular, runs late hours, and roars about like a man fully 4 decades younger.
As if to accentuate this, Auberon dresses very well. His robes, usually of the traditional type, are elegantly tailored; their silk the finest, his selective pieces of jewelry magnificent, the furs the rarest and so on. All this combines to make him a seemingly larger than life sort of man.
P E R S O N A L I T Y
Auberon, as his aura suggests, is no stranger to ham. A gruff, blunt and loud sort of man, he is polite in his own sort of way; he makes his colleagues and staff know where they stand, and does the same with students. While he won't dorectly say anything bad to another, his body language and tone does everything words would otherwise do.
He tends to yell. To any who like peace and quiet, he is an enemy; while he was and is a skilled orator, as a professor his booming voice during lectures was well known for carrying some distance and anying teachers on the next floor. Students who were (and are) fond of him can find his deep voice soothing in its own way, however. As Headmaster he makes his speeches often without the aid of volume charms (and can inspire fear at the mere suggestion of trying them). He's the sort who'd rather bellow down the hall than send a note if he wants someone to get to his office.
Auberon is a very loving sort of man - in a strict and masculine way, anyhow. He believes strongly in the 'throw child off cliff and make them climb it' kind of methods, and while he loves his sons dearly he expects them to work hard and be great men and makes no secret of his disappointment if they fail to do this. He expects this of his granddaughters as well, but Auberon is a somewhat traditional sort of man; he doesn't feel women should be too masculine. While he encourages his daughters and granddaughters to be excellent duelists and witches, he also expects them to be ladies.
He extends this attitude towards all of the school and has nothing but approval for the Strata system and nothing but pride for Durmstrang's history and reputation.
At his core, however, he is a rather political sort of man, who finds appearing much more of a brute than he actually is to be quite useful. He plays the teachers and students off against each other, and enjoys the turmoil of Durmstrang immensely. His apparent solution to most issues is "Shout at it until it goes away" or "Ignore it until it solves itself" but in reality he employs a wide range of techniques. He has no goal of keeping order, however; far from it! Durmstrang would not be Durmstrang if everyone got along - and so he will sometimes start chaos for chaos's sake. It's all a learning experience, after all - and as many professors find, they're never too old to learn.
Auberon's major issue and virtue is his iron will and temper; he's not a man to wrong or anger, and he will finish any task he puts his mind to...any way he can. It's not cheating if you win and don't get caught, is it? But it can give him trouble, as he can be provoked to action by a suitably clever person.
His hobbies and habits are rumored to be rather eclectic, and he enjoys feeding these rumors; he keeps odd animals as pets (he kept a lion in his office for several years, and once spread a rumor he'd fed a recently fired Professor to it) and while he considers himself a 'man of the mountains' and an accomplished outdoorsman, he also enjoys hunting, as it's easiest to see nature when you blow holes in all the animals first. He's an early riser and a late sleeper, and sometimes seems to go without sleep. However, he can often be found asleep during the day, dozed off in some overstuffed armchair and snoring loudly.

C H I L D H O O D Auberon was born in early December of 1928 into the pureblood Eisenberg line in Shuttgart, Germany. His family was a moderately wealthy line of long-standing but not entirely pure heritage; in pre-War Germany, this put his father, Fynn Eisenberg, at something of a disadvantage in his Ministry work.
Auberon grew up in a loving household as the eldest child. His two sisters, Helen and Dominique, were a few years younger than he. His parents both worked for the Ministry in Germany, his father as a mid-level bureaucrat in the DoIMC and his mother, Emily, as a Senior Obliviator.
Their home in Shuttgart was best described as 'large enough'. It was hardly the opulent home of a truly wealthy wizarding family, but they afforded some small luxuries and their home was respectable enough to show to guests higher on the social ladder.
At the age of 8, Auberon's father began teaching him English and French, having wished his son to take up the same career as he. Young Auberon did well at his studies and soon had a starting grip of both languages. His fondest memories of his childhood involve his father, as Fynn would often take him with him on trips and the two often fished together on holidays.
His father and mother both desired him to attend Durmstrang, and applied him there as opposed to the much closer Beauxbatons. In the autumn of 1939 he was shipped off to the school, very much looking forward to it.

Durmstrang was far different than Auberon's childhood. His parents had never truly attempted to shelter him from the storm of politics, but at the age of 11 he had not truly had a grasp of what it was like. At Durmstrang, he learned quickly that you either steered the ship or you sank; there was no middle ground if you had any self-respect. Especially at Durmstrang.
As a young boy he was already developing the iron will and temper that would later take him to the top of Durmstrang's hierarchy. Bull-headily, he studied, spoke and marched his way into the Obertiels - the best Durmstrang had to offer. While more strong-headed and outspoken than many, he showed real ability with his Spellwork and Tangibles, impressing his professors. His (for Durmstrang, anyhow) tolerant views were not so impressive; but he learned to keep his cards close to his chest.
To his fellows he was a boisterous, friendly sort, not amiss to a bit of 'rough and tumble' and the odd prank. He enjoyed the company of his close friends and met his future wife, Elsie Krunk, while at Durmstrang.
While his schooling went well, the world was not quite so peachy. Muggle nations turned on each other and had begin the Second World War; wizard kind fared no better as Grindelwald's army amassed in Europe and attacked wizard and muggle alike.
In 1944, Auberon's mother Emily was killed in the allied bombings of Shuttgart along with her Obliviator squad. His childhood home was destroyed, and he spent the next two summers living with his father and sisters in the home of his aunt Gimelda.
The loss of his mother and the darkness of the world did not seem to slow down young Auberon, though they effected him deeply. His mother had always denounced the actions of Grindelwald and his allies, and her death and the siduation as a whole inspired the young man to fight for the true greater good...of wizarding kind, at least. His limited experiences with muggles, Durmstrang's anti-muggle teachings and the destruction the muggles wrought would color his opinions forever.
The duel between Dumbledore and Grindlewald ended the conflict at nearly the same time as WW2 ended. Auberon emerged from his schooling into a Europe devastated and broken on both sides of the magical fence, and resolved to do something about it.
R E C ON S T R U C T I O N 1946 was a tough year, and Auberon returned to his father's side to join the effort at reconstruction. Working with the DoIMC turned out to not be Auberon's cup of tea, however. While he turned out to have a gift for shouting his opponents into submission, he found himself drawn to the 'direct cleanup' effort, and so soon joined the Aurors to aid in rounding up the remanants of Grindelwald's army.
In 1947 his aunt began speaking to his father behind his back, and in the Spring the two approached the young man with a marriage propsal: Elsie Krunk, a young lady Auberon's age. Her family was pure but impoverished, her parents killed for opposing Grindelwald too openly.
Auberon accepted. While not friends in school - the quiet, withdrawn Elsie had found him too loud and talented to dare to approach, she told him - the two soon became good friends and the match quickly turned to one of deep love. They are happily married to this day, and she soon bore them their first child, his eldest son Adalwulf.
Elsie was, to Fynn's joy, looking to be employed by the DoIMC as a translator, as she possessed a considerable gift of languages. The two soon left the home of Gimelda to move into a small home on the outskirts of Shuttgart.
In 1950, the last sizable openly resisting cells of Grindelwald's forces had fled to the armpit of magical Germany: the Black Forest. Deciding to follow them, Auberon transferred to the area and he and Elsie built a home high in the hills.
T H E B L A C K F O R E S T
Auberon instantly took to the area, despite its dangers and darkness. The crisp air, glorious woodland and seemingly untouched nature made a mountain man out of him.
At their home in the Black Forest, he and Elsie had their second child, their first daughter. Auberon called her Emily, after his mother.
Rounding up and killing the Dark Wizards was dangerous work, and to his pleasure within a few years the reports had died down. They never disappeared, of course; but the major idiots were dead. This lead to him changing his goal - he widened his area of expertise to take on any threat to the sparse locals. This lead to him having to quickly learn to contend with just about anything that spilled from the darkness of the trees, be it werewolf, vampire, human or beast.
He quickly developed a special affinity for vampire hunting, and targeted them most of all. While not the most famous vampire hunter in the area, all of the nearby small hamlets began to call on him in their times of trouble, and he was a reliable figure for the locals for miles around his hidden home.
Auberon had to keep his home well hidden, however, as he and Elsie found out when their home was attacked by two Dark Wizards in 1952. Elsie was badly injured, but survived, subduing the men herself. The family survived, but after this incident Auberon played the cautious card and made his home as well hidden as he could manage.
Overall, their life was a happy one. For Auberon, it was filled with the things he craved the most on life: his wife, happiness, good food and adventure. By 1960 he and Elsie had 7 children: Adalwulf, Emily, Konrad, Bardulf, Lara, Kurt and Anna.
By 1960 he was on Auror only in name, and in agreement with the office he was transferred to the Creatures Department, officaly joining the Werewolf Unit. This was largely a cosmetic change, as Auberon did not change his habits of killing any creature and subduing any wizard that caused trouble.
T H E F I R S T W I Z A R D I N G W A R
The first rise of Voldemort in the 1970s was, at least at first, merely an escalation of Auberon's job; more Dark Wizards headed into and out of the Black Forest, the vampires got worse, the werewolves more dire. The mid and late 60s saw a steady wise in minor uprisings, attacks and infections.
Overall, Auberon focused on keeping order. He was too far from the major conflicts, at first, to encounter the true brunt of the war - until some of Voldemort's followers brought it home.
His eldest son, Adalwulf, had taken after his father and become an Auror. A young trainee at the time, he was stationed in the Black Forest, and in 1972 a major attack cost him his life, the young man struck down saving a senior officer.
The family was deeply effected and Auberon was unsure on how to react. His immediate reaction was to lash out; while normally he at least attempted to capture Dark Wizards, he no longer did. This led to issues with the nearby Aurors, and eventually he was calmed. He and Adalwulf had been very close, and he has always missed his son, of whom he was intensely proud.
He spent the rest of the war with his wife, focusing on protecting his children and those nearby. Auberon was, to the surprise of many, neutral at first; but after Adalwulf's death his opinion was clearly swayed and he was fully against Voldemort.
He considers himself lucky, however - in a semi-twisted way. The First Wizarding War cost him only one child; many others could not make such a happy claim.

The road to becoming a professor was an odd one, in many ways. With his eldest dead and the war apparently over, the cleanup began. And while Auberon helped, his heart was beginning to be elsewhere.
When it finally came to the day that he and Elsie spent the year alone, he relished it, at first. They had the time to walk alone without too much worry. But Auberon wanted his children near, and as much as he loved the Black Forest, wished to live somewhere where the threats were less constant and easier to spot.
Sending in his application was almost a spur of the moment thing, brought on by Elsie's thought of joining the school as the Professor or Rare Languages.
Still, his application to the post of Professor of Creature Study & Defense was accepted, and along with his wife they relocated to the city nearest Durmstrang, and then properly moved into the school. He wasn't too fond of the city, but loved the school.
Their younger children were none too pleased to find their parents as their teachers; classes that had once been semi-relaxing were now twice as tough.
Still, Auberon took to Durmstrang's chaotic envirorment like a fish to water, and enjoyed himself immensely. He retained his love of the school, and despite his extreme dislike for Karkaroff (he found the man a rather spineless idiot), he fairly quickly established himself as a figure of power at the school, and found his tactic of being extremely forward and difficult worked quite well in Durmstrang's power struggles - even if it did cause tension.

By the time 1995 rolled around, his children had all graduated; most of them had even married, and his first grandchild had been born. But all that was secondary when Voldemort returned to power. Karkaroff fled when news reached them, leaving a sudden power vacuum - not even returning from the Triwizard Tournament.
Auberon took the opportunity this presented, and moved quickly, managing to seize power. His forward, loud and forceful personality helped hold the school together - barely. Chaos descended over the school, several professors being either fired or leaving and a few fleeing outright. Some were even killed.
His openly neutral stance might have won him allies, but it made him enemies as well; several times over the next 3 years Auberon was nearly killed, and threats arrived seemingly daily. He had difficulty keeping staff, keeping his position and keeping students at the school, as the pureblood vs muggleborn arguement grew in intensity. Auberon grit his teeth, protected his family and survived a direct attack on his office and himself .
And then, suddenly, it was seemingly over. Hogwarts might have been ablaze, but from the ashes came a seemingly new world.

Since 1998 Eisenberg has done his best to patch up Durmstrang. He still refuses to open the school to muggleborns, feeling that would loose much of Durmstrang's 'spirit'; traditionalism was what made the school so great, he feels. He does quietly ensure that their schooling is...adequate, but resists having their schooling be on par, as he would never willingly undermine Durmstrang.
Two of his children have returned to teach, helped in no small way by nepotism. He's had to quickly find a new member of the Spellworks, after requesting that Ignan Storm - son of a previous Headmaster - step down after reckless uses of magic. (The issue being that they cost the school money, of course).
He has no doubt that Durmstrang will win the Tournament...and will do whatever is necessary to ensure that outcome is what happens.
J O B D U T I E S
As the Headmaster, Auberon runs the school - not just dictating policy, but also controlling the professors and the subjects taught. He has the responsibility of ensuring all students receive an acceptable education, that parents are pleased, that funds are secured and correctly channeled and that the school has a strong direction.
He uses his power to ensure the professors and students are in a constant state of power play, however - and takes pride in this. He also often deals with disciplining both students and staff, and tends to use this to accentuate the politics within the school. He keeps spies among the students to keep the teachers on their toes.
For a Durmstrang headmaster, many consider him 'mild'; he's a staunch traditionalist rather than a purist. But make no mistake; he is not soft on his staff or on the school, and he upholds the pride, purism and hostile environment of Durmstrang, believing deeply they produce the best wizards and witches in the world.
E X P E R T I S E
Auberon taught at Durmstrang for over a decade before seizing the position of Headmaster in the void left by Karkaroff's disappearance. Raised by a diplomat, he came into the school with a basic knowledge of politics and power plays - but left with that knowledge truly drilled into him.
He spent much of his life as an Auror and a WCU operative, and when he returned to teach he taught 'Creature Defense'; small, specialized classes on how to capture, kill, and survive extremely dangerous magical beasts, including werewolves, vampires and dragons.
He has been Headmaster for 14 years now, and some staff were students under his reign (and in some cases were his students directly). He tends to hire those who he thinks will fit in - and sometimes will hire based on sheer interest in their eccentricities, or to see how long they last.

Sum up your character in one paragraph: Auberon is a loud, enragingly healthy and loud sort of man, with as much brain as brawn and an intense sense of pride - in his school, his family and himself. He lives a life so crammed full of ham it's apparently genetic, and has no concept of an 'indoor voice.'
