Physical Description: Jean-Paul is a rather average looking Beauxbatons students. With the general emphasis on arts or sports Jean-Paul has a tall lean figure with little muscle tone, just enough to say he's active without being super althetic or strong.

Jean-Paul has short curly sandy brown hair, sparkling blue eyes and boyish features that often have people believing he's much younger than he actually is. Though he has a winning smile and could be considered handsome he tends not to stand out, at least not in a school like Beauxbatons where the elite pride themselves on not only their talents and academic abilities but for their keen fashion sense and sense of self worth.

Personality Description: Jean-Paul has a very open and friendly personality. He doesn't discriminate against those that are different from him as it's often those differences that make people more fascinating to get to know. He enjoys having fun and knows when to let loose, something that at times has been frowned upon amoungst his peers especially in the later years of school when everyone is working to be the best there is at what they do.

While at first glance Jean-Paul seems like an oddball amoungst his peers, overlooked, considered to be a goofball and assumed to be an idiot, he's actually rather brilliant. Jean-Paul excells at transfiguration and design. In his later years he chose to focus on Magical creation and design, ultimately wanting to go into Architecture like his Dad. Though he knows when to have fun Jean-Paul has never shied away from cracking down on his studies and acheiving the high marks that's expected of him. Professor's are often surprised that a student who has no issues with trying to get his peers to laugh in class, appears not to be paying attention to anything they try to teach him will turn around and deliver stellar work and well written, well thought out results.

Jean-Paul has a deep passion for Design, his family and his friends. He'll strike up a conversation with anyone that will give him their attention. Despite the fact that Jean-Paul belives himself to be a muggleborn he doesn't see it as a disadvantage even amoungst the high pureblood elite of Beauxbatons. He doesn't believe he is any less talented and while heritage isn't often talked about at school he has no problem embracing his Muggle way of life off campus.

When it comes to his friends Jean-Paul would do anything for them especially for brother. Friendship is the most important thing to him next to his designs and he could never bear causing a friend to no longer trust him or break off the friendship. Though it is more often than not an amiable trait it has caused him trouble in the past, trying to hold onto a friendship that just wasn't meant to be. He can be seen as clingy and irrational when someone tries to end a friendship with him and has been known to hold onto that for years (though the constant attempts to win the friendship back wan with time)

With girls Jean-Paul is a natural charmer, he always seems to know just what to say and when to say it but he has never really pursued any kind of relationship. He finds the girls at school to be elitist, snobby and superficial and has a hard time trying to relate to them. He feels that romance will come in time and a focus on studies and getting himself noticed for design either in the Wizarding world or the Muggle world is more important.

Jean-Paul lost his mother at a very young age, a fact he rarely lets anyone know even the closest of his friends. It's generally a sore subject for him and the usual happy go lucky teen will do anything he can to steer the subject away. Whenever his friends have come to visit he's always excused his mother as being at work or visiting family never letting on that he has no idea where she is and barely even remembers her.

History: In his final year of University Conrad Valjean studied abroad in Paris, France. Originally from New York the young man had a passion for art and specifically artistic Architecture. While studying design and architecture in Paris Conrad met a young woman named Eponine Guerin. The two had a whirlwind romance and married few years afterwards once Conrad had graduated and found himself a respectable job as an Architect in Marseille.

Not long after they had two boys and were living happily. Unknown to Conrad his beautiful wife was more than what she seemed. Epinone came from a long line of powerful witches and wizards, one of the many purebloods families within France. She had told Conrad that she was an orphan and never knew her real parents when in truth she had been disowned by the family for her fondness for everything muggle, especially muggle men.

However their happy family suffered a great loss early on. In 1996 when Jean-Paul was only four Eponine disappeared. Conrad filed several missing persons reports and hounded the police for months but no trace of his wife was ever found. When the Second Wizarding War broke out Epinone's family had whisked her away to a safer location afraid that she would be punished for associating with muggles. They came in the middle of the night and easily fought off Conrad's protests, her eldest brother Obliviating him on their way out. To this day Conrad has no memory of ever meeting Eponine's family and believes his wife to simply be a missing person.

Despite the loss of their mother so early on Jean-Paul and his brother grew up like any other normal kids. Jean-Paul was a friendly and outgoing child even from a young age and never seemed to have problems making friends. While his father was a little worried about his rambunctious nature he never seemed to have problems in school and he soon embraced his little goofster.

When Jean-Paul and his brother came of age they received their letters allowing them acceptance into the Beauxbatons Academy of Magic. Conrad had a hard time accepting what was happening to his boys. Like most muggle parents he had always excused their early shows of magic as freak accidents. Weary but hopeful he sent his boys off viewing the Academy as an elite private school rather than a real magical one.

At school Jean-Paul once again socially flourished. He easily made friends while still being able to make good grades. He found his passion in transfiguration, charms and magical designs. As a muggle child he had always been very interested in his father's work. He had a natural talent for figuring out how things went together, with his magical education and an emphasis on arts Jean-Paul was able to apply his natural talent to his extra curriculars in school.

Though his happy go lucky, have fun when you can personality often clashes with those of his peers Jean-Paul is still optimistic and still strives to make as many friends as he can, never shying away from a conversation or the opportunity to learn something new about someone.

When the chance for the Tetra Wizard Tournament came up Jean-Paul leaped at the offer and was overjoyed when he was selected as a candidate. His excellent work in Charms and Transfiguration made him a worthy opponent while he was more eager to see the sights and buildings of the scottish countryside not to mention the intricate and extremely complicated design of the Hogwarts Castle itself.

How Do You Fit Into Your House?: Jean-Paul was selected as a Beauxbatons candidate for the Tetra Wizard Tournament because of his exemplary talent for Charms and Transfiguration. Jean-Paul's brain has been able to figure out puzzles that would take any average person days to complete in record times. He has a natural talent for figuring things out, how things go together and the best solutions for getting around a problem. While he normally uses this natural talent in his own designs, his Professor's feel he could just as easily apply them to strategy for the Tournament.

Writing Sample:

Sum up your character in one paragraph: Jean-Paul is a fun loving happy go lucky teen with a passion and natural talent for Design, especially Architecture. He's a loyal and devoted friend, willing to do anything to secure and keep a friendship. While he knows when and how to have a good time Jean-Paul is an excellent student and a worthy candidate for the Tetra Wizard Tournament.
