Wand: As is Olivier tradition, Séraphin's wand was crafted by a well-known artisan in Saint-Tropez, and followed the family material of rosewood. Thirteen inches in length, and filled with the feather of a Hippogriff, his wand is probably the most treasured possession.
Physical Description: A mirror image of his father, the great Maxence Olivier, Séraphin is every inch the desirable Beauxbatons bachelor. Tall, at six foot three, broad shoulders and solidly-plump arms are mocked by long, thin legs, and his less than ideal frame is masked by well-tailored suits. For every flaw, there is a fix, in his book.
Brown hair is flecked with sunkissed strands (thanks to the active sunshine of Cannes) and always, always, always perfectly coiffed. Be it a groomed side-parting or flyaway quiff, Séraphin believes that personal style reflects the individual within. And he is undoubtedly the materialist.
School uniform is a mere template for Séraphin; his own flair for fashion appears mostly in free time outside of Beauxbatons. His wardrobe is filled with fine, well-fitted suits of charcoal grey and navy blue, tweed hunting jackets, cream slacks and expensive leather brogues. For Séraphin, no form of occasion can warrant
Facially, he is incredibly handsome - albeit in a very conventional, very expected genre of handsome. A chiselled jaw, check. Razor-sharp cheekbones, check. Brown eyes that get girls paralytic drunk on lust. Check. Despite all this, there's nothing that particularly stands-out, and the boy is a pure product of French idealism - the Séraphin Oliviers of the world are distinguished but somewhat common in wizarding high society. For every boy of good blood and looks to match, there were countless of uniquely beautiful creatures stalking the halls of Beauxbatons. Outstanding features, but uniform nonetheless.
Personality Description: Séraphin Olivier: the paragon of moral values and schoolyard justice. Proud to be a Beauxbatons, the final year student is keen to cast a vigilant eye across the school. Bullies will be put in their place, younger students encouraged, and standards placed for others to follow. Yes, there is nobody quite like young Olivier.
Expected to succeed in life, Séraphin is obsessed with triumph, dedication and hard-work. Coming second place is a major loss, and there is no room in the boy's life for bad decisions or loss of pride. All this staunch, solid self-discipline has gained many allies, friends and approval from elders, but downsides are quick to rear their particularly ugly heads.
The constant adulation has left a residue devoid of any humbleness. Séraphin knows he is an intelligent young man, he knows that great things await, and he knows that good looks and a charming tongue can create waves. He believes that he deserves applause, and that others should follow suit; those who believe they are perfect often fail to see their own imperfections. Arrogance and an abundance of overt seriousness are exhausting for others, and Séraphin is often blinded by his own sense of superiority.
Those who get to the core of the boy, however, see a relatively different side. Of course, the aristocratic aloofness is indoctrinated, but Séraphin is often desperate to impress. What if he failed to live up to the expectations of his parents? Failed to follow in his brothers' golden footsteps? What if Séraphin was the sole Olivier to bring national shame upon the family of prestige? These insecurities permanently shake his often steely foundations, and are rare to be voiced. Better to shield with confidence then broadcast in embarrassment.
For the few that retain a close seat to the self-declared prince, he's an incredibly loyal comrade. Like his own untarnished honour, Séraphin is quick to defend the pride of friends. The elite of Beauxbatons must, after all, safeguard the sanctity and importance of privilege. Not everyone can live within the inner circle, after all.
History: A life of expectation and triumph would always await the youngest child of Maxence and Zéphyrine Olivier. And that son happened to be Sérafin.
His father was born into wealth and reputation: the Olivier clan has groomed and trained politicians, writers, professors and historians of the highest order. Maxence was no different. A Beauxbatons academic heavyweight, he graduated and gained a placement within the French ministry (the joys of family connections) and through charisma and hard-work, managed to climb his way to the throne of the International Cooperation department. But that would never be good enough. Ten more years saw Maxence take on the mantle of the French Minister equivalent. A short but commendable premiership, a seven year stint was fairly straight-forwarded; France remained in relative wealth. Problems were minor. Diplomacy and civil strife were at an all-time low. With enough money to retire, Maxence decided to quit whilst he was ahead, and remained in the social circuit through guest speaking at dinners, lectures, political advice and occasional columns.
His good wife Zéphyrine was of notable stock also. The beautiful daughter of Luxembourgh purebloods, she was swiftly introduced to the too-good-to-be-true bachelor that was a young Maxence, and the two hit it off immediately. His charisma simply bolstered her kindness, and whilst sensible in her ways, Zéphyrine possessed a caring streak that was somewhat alien in the upper strata of the French elite. She had few pretensions, and devoted her life to homeless wizard charities in and around Paris. This was another fortunate turn for her husband: his young wife's humanitarian inclinations only nurtured the public's support.
Before Séraphin came five brothers, (the French are known for their... 'prowess', after all) each and every one graced with a hallmark of the Olivier clan. First, came Maximilian, the thinker, and an alchemist based in Israel. Then, François, the playboy, gracing magazines for famous wizards who were famous for no particular reason. After that: Laurentin, the philanthropist, following his mother's footsteps in charitable ventures. The fourth son, Apollinaire, the orator, a keen politician with a compulsory sharp tongue. The penultimate child, Valérian, was fifth, the up-and-coming Quidditch legend.
And then, there was Séraphin. What was to become of little, pretty Séraphin? His siblings had all made a name for themselves, conquering every single realm from stardom to science. What would the youngest Olivier do to prove his worth? More worryingly, what was left that Sérafin
could do?
Regardless, the shoes of expectation were polished and set for the youngest son to step into, and his early life was riddled with countless introductions and lessons in behaving like a proper gent. With fifteen years difference between the eldest and youngest child, Séraphin's brothers were sporadic entities whilst growing up. Apollinaire and Valérian however, as the closest in age, always kept a protective eye on the youngest, and the two soon became Séraphin's role models.
Growing up was a flawless procedure; he learnt the importance of the Olivier family name, the history of their wealth and whilst not a purist family, the 'advantages' of good stock and noble background soon became apparent. Maxence and Zéphyrine understood that such old money mentalities like blood purism were on the decline, and complete incompatible with modern French society; Séraphin would place value upon girls from notable family names, and a vault of wealth to match. Reputation was far more important than bloodlines.
Worryingly, it was always difficult seeing Séraphin fit into a particular role in life. He had no stand-out skill, an 'above average' performer in every field. What would be his skill? He was charming enough, but lacked the winning dialogue of Apollonaire; good-looking enough, but nowhere near as wild as François; intelligent enough, but not as well-read and meticulous as Maximilian. Everything Séraphin's parents pushed him towards, he excelled, but there was no real passion or flair for something specific. Alarm bells weren't exactly winning, but the sooner the boy found a forte, the better.
As expected, Séraphin was Beauxbatons material, and begun his schooling career with gusto and dedication. It was the next seven years that would define him not only amongst the family, but as a man of society. Grades were initially average, but soon climbed into the heavens of scholastic aptitude; he honed his awkward body into an instrument of sporting success; friends, allies and contacts were made with a mouth that could a thousand snakes. Soon enough, Séraphin belonged to the upper crust of the Beauxbatons social scene, but he lacked the outward cattiness of his peers. Upholding school rules and defending the younger, weaker students were at the heart of Séraphin's outlook: in order to impress, one must be the best in every walk of life. Despite being a teenager, actions would echo far into the realms of adulthood.
Plenty of young girls came and go. Being good-looking, rich and popular were undoubtedly the positive magnets that sent Beauxbatons belles wild - the secret for Séraphin was to remain undistracted. Girlfriends were fine, as long as focus remained upon school, and the next big tournament or essay was far more important than a few stolen kisses in the dark. This romantic distance only gave way to more waves of adoration.
And so, Séraphin continued in the same vein, but failed to find his chief, paramount skill. Politics was too stuffy. Life in the celebrity lane was incredibly whimsical. An existence in academics was fruitful, but without sheer excitement. When the Tetrawizard Tournament was announced, what better way to prove some form of excellence? Perfection, even? Perhaps Séraphin would make a name for himself just yet.
How Do You Fit Into Your House?: Séraphin is every inch the typical Beauxbatons man, and who better to represent the school? With an impeccable sporting ability with grades to match, the long line of Oliviers have done the establishment well in the past, so why Séraphin be any different? He's been warned about his cocksure arrogance and dislike for all things uncouth, but as long as his tongue stays firm within head, everything should go just
swimmingly.

Sum up your character in one paragraph: Perfect and imperfect in every single way, Séraphin faces high expectations, a world of idealism and the task of earning high society's respect. Not the average world of a seventeen year old. Dedicated, loyal, ruthlessly ambitious and extremely insecure. There's a lot more to Séraphin Cupidon Déodat Olivier than meets the eye.
