Physical Description: Søren is a fine blond-haired, blue-eyed specimen of Scandinavian beauty. His curved brows appear to be perpetually furrowed and he prefers to keep a manly stubble on his face. Durmstrang whipped him into a strong, muscular young man that stands at a little above average height.  However, for all his good looks, he actually has fairly large teeth- though you’d never know, as he rarely (nearly never) smiles. His voice is deep, with a thick Norwegian accent when he speaks English. He walks quickly and with purpose, even if he isn’t going anywhere in particular.

The young Norwegian keeps himself well-groomed and put together, never a hair out of place. His style is elegant and practical, with plenty of warm clothing for the bitter Scandinavian winters. The mass majority of his shirts are collared and button-down, trousers pressed but casual, and he owns plenty of ties and vests to complete his look. Cold weather clothing includes wool peacoats, fur hats, and leather gloves.

Personality Description: “Disinterested” is the word that immediately comes to mind when one interacts with Søren Frisk. Those who approach are often (if not always) met with terse, perfunctory speech- unless he finds someone particularly interesting (and, honestly, good luck with that). The affairs of others do not matter to him, only pursuits of the mind; because of this, he is extremely well-read and intelligent. He can be described as one-track minded, focusing on things one at a time, resolving them thoroughly and completely. His upbringing has instilled in him the values of elegant taste and self control. Durmstrang toughened up the boy, who was initially more of a meek bookworm when he started school. Søren cares little for sport, but recognises that a healthy brain needs a healthy body, so he cares for it and often swims, which helps him think. When he relaxes, he does so with a book. If he had attended Hogwarts, he would have certainly been sorted into Ravenclaw house.

History: Søren Jakob Frisk was born with the proverbial silver spoon in his mouth to Norwegian purebloods Espen and Astrid Frisk. Like most in his position, he suffered little stress or tragedy, though one could not say he was spoiled. He was taught the value of self-control at a very young age. To his parents’ distress, and despite his upbringing, Søren did not instantly acclimate to the high-society functions they were accustomed to throwing and attending. The young boy much preferred to lock himself away in the library and obsessively read, rather than schmooze with the Scandinavian elite. He was neither coddled nor indulged in this behavior, and was forced to attend etiquette school after his magic primary school let out. Eventually, Søren did learn to put on a proper face at his parents’ request. At Durmstrang, however, he had no such obligation.

Despite having been at Durmstrang for six years, Søren has not made a single friend. This is perfectly fine by him of course, as it made for less interference in his studies. Day in and day out, he studied and practised his magic relentlessly, nearly consumed by the desire to be the best. Not for money, not for power, since he had those things by name alone. No, he does this for his own personal satisfaction. And it has paid off- he quickly rose to the ranks of the Obertiel, maintains pristine grades, and is currently taking advantage of Durmstrang’s animagus training, only available to the student body’s elite. Still, he is not popular by any stretch of the imagination. There is a mysterious air about the handsome young man, making him appealing to some, but when approached, they are cooly rebuffed by the focused young wizard. Most find him unapproachable, though.

Søren is travelling to Britain with his school, hoping to compete in the Tetrawizard Tournament as a sort of capstone- a crowning testament to his great personal achievement over the last seven years.

How Do You Fit Into Your House?: Because he doesn’t concern himself with interpersonal relations, Søren has spent all of his time honing his skills. Say what you will, but this has produced results- he is one of the best students at Durmstrang, and despite his refusal to participate in the politics of the school’s hierarchy, his academic achievement is just too outstanding for him to be considered for demotion. Much to the annoyance of his fellow Obertiels.

Writing Sample:

Sum up your character in one paragraph: Strong, silent, and handsome, Søren Frisk is on a mission to be the greatest wizard of his time. Relationships are not his forte, as his focus is entirely on his personal betterment. He is not interested in other people, though, if you’re particularly interesting... he might make an exception. He is very high-society, but also very self-disciplined.

Special Ability: Animagus
What level is this ability at?: Intermediate
At what age did your character gain this ability?: Began training at age fifteen
How did they learn or hone this ability?: Durmstrang offers animagus training to its student body elite, and always relishing a challenge, Søren was among the first to sign up. Alongside his fellow Obertiel animagi-in-training, he is instructed by Durmstrang's Spellworks professors. Like all his other disciplines, Søren practises shifting forms daily, though he does this in a secluded outdoor space.
Describe how the Special Ability influences their life.  What do they use it for?: Søren's life revolves around intellectual pursuits and his personal betterment as a wizard. So, when presented with the opportunity to acquire this complicated skill, he jumped at the chance. He takes great pride in this, though there have been setbacks in regards to his overly-focused state of mind when trying to transform.

Since he is still training, Søren does not use this ability often, though he will sometimes use it to cross large expanses of snow quicker.
Write a description of what happens when your character is exhibiting this Special Ability: Søren transfigures into a Eurasian lynx, a medium-sized wild cat with large paws. Though he understands the form in great detail, the transformation is not instantaneous because he is too focused on the details: he finds it difficult to tap into his animal instincts. From afar, he looks like an average specimen, with a spotted coat and bobbed tail. However, up close, one would notice that Søren keeps his blue eye colour even in lynx form. He retains the higher brain functions of a human while he is an animal, though his resistance to completely giving over to the change can often cause him to involuntarily revert back to human form. In a sense, he tries too hard.

While he is a lynx, Søren's senses of hearing and smell are heightened, as well as his speed and agility. The lynx's paws act like snowshoes, allowing him to walk on snow instead of sinking in. Sometimes after transfiguring back, Søren will have a craving for raw meat.
