Her body is small and average, and as she's grown into it has turned into a nice hourglass shape, though a slightly pear-shaped one. She's kind of short, standing at only 5'2.Her hair is her most remarkable feature, though it's only become that in the last year. Normally a curly, frizzy mess, Jak restyled her hair at the end of the last school year, chopping it to a shoulder-length bob and using straightening spells. She did this due to losing - or winning, it depends on the asker's reaction - a bet. Her hair is currently dyed black...and styled with white and purple stars in Salem's school colors. Sometimes Quodpot is a bit too serious. Her eyes are brown with some greenish tints, and her skin is an average color, though often tanned in a farmer's tan. She's muscular though not overly so, and her fashion sense tends to be quite tame; she wears the uniform of teenagers everywhere and sticks to jeans and t-shirts, only occasionally mixing up the monotony. Jak tends not to pay much attention to her outward appearance, and so often turns up in the wrong clothing. She wears glasses for reading, and has a penchant for odd sunglasses if given the chance. Personality DescriptionJak spends most of her time rather quiet. An avid guitar player, she can be found strumming it at odd hours of the night, and often experiments on spare guitars to try and get them to play via magic. She tends to read a lot, though her choice in reading is not always the best for everyone - she's more likely to be nose-deep in the Quibbler than in her textbooks. Unfortunately, she sometimes takes the stories in these at face value - especially ones that people have actually done considerable research on. She's pretty sure aliens really did build the pyramids, for example. The government's just covering it up.She's got a lively sense of humor and tends to get caught up in the moment, especially around her friends. To everyone else, she's friendly and sociable, and to teachers, she's unerringly polite, though teachers she's known for awhile tend to get treated much more casually, especially they treat her casually too. She does well in school, but she's no star student; she's gotten very good grades, but she's not exactly on the honor roll, either. She tends to do her homework at the last minute, so while it's complete, she's desperately writing on the parchment as the teacher pulls it away. To friends, she's supportive and nice, but not the best person to ask for advice. She tends towards overactive paranoia, in a joking sort of manner, and so is likely to make entirely unhelpful deductions. She's aware she's a terrible person to seek advice from, however, and will usually caution her friends beforehand. Jak is outgoing and likes to try out new things, and usually puts her all into things she likes. Unfortunately, the things she likes change often, so she'll latch onto an idea and run with it for about a year before she gets bored. This is causing her no end of trouble, for as graduation fast approaches...Jak has no idea what she wants to be. Music is an obvious choice but she's not sure she wants to do that - not yet, anyway - and is afraid she won't get far in it if she does try for that. She doesn't want to be like either of her parents and the myriad of jobs available is not helping. For now she tries to ignore it, but the constant reminders do nothing but stress her out. She's hoping she'll get hit by a spark - some sort of bolt of divine inspiration that points the way. So far, no luck.In crises Jak tends to be more practical than brave, and if her ship is sinking she's more likely to be finding the lifeboats than trying to save it. Unfortunately common sense for her isn't what it is for everyone else, even if she tries to follow it.Jak is quite passionate about Quodpot and tends to focus her energy on it over her school subjects. She's a good player and enjoys it, and it certainly shows up as a possibility on her list of possible careers.HistoryJak was born to a halfblood father and muggleborn mother, Jack and Marge Swift, in New Jersey. Her parents divorced when she was little, and so as a small child she grew up at his grandmother's, his mother having moved out of the apartment she shared with Jack. Jak's named after her father, which she's never quite understood; her mother dropped the 'c' to make the name more unique. Parental issues aside, her young childhood was happy enough; her grandmother Georgia was ever so happy to have a granddaughter, and her mother made every effort to raise her daughter well, financial issues or not. She enjoyed herself as a child, therefore, and while she didn't have a 'real' father - her father only visiting her on the odd weekends - she wasn't about to complain. When she started showing signs of magic, both her grandmother and mother were fairly supportive - damage to the trailer notwithstanding, of course. Jak grew up with her mum's magic being normal, and she often had the headache of laughing off the stories she told muggle neighbors with the usual 'what an imagination!' excuses. When she told her she'd be able to do it herself one day, Jak was overjoyed...and promptly nicked her wand to try it out. Their trailer was soon down a few windows.Aside from that incident, Jak was mostly well-behaved as she grew up, much to her grandmother's joy, and made a few friends at her schools and did...moderately well. Much to her mother and grandmother's frustration, she didn't put as much effort into her homework as they thought she should, but usually got it done - and her grades where mostly Bs and As. It was the year the letter from Salem showed up that everything changed, though not through the direct fault of the letter. As she enjoyed her last 'muggle' summer, Jak's mother started dating again, and when she left for school she left feeling a tad uncertain what she planned to do.The wedding over Christmas confirmed those suspicions, anyway. Marge remarried, her new beau being a muggle clam fisher, Will Bishop. Jak and Will got on well enough in an awkward kind of way, though Jak was certainly thrown off by first formally meeting her step-father shortly before the wedding, her mother having been unable to come to see her before that. Her first years at Salem, therefore, were a time of adjustment both on-campus and off. Jak liked Salem, overall, and fit in well enough; her naturally outgoing attitude and easy humor let her slide into her own niche fairly quickly, and she took to Quodpot right away when seeing it for the first time. She turned out have a good affinity for magic, loving to use it on everything if given the chance. She tended to like her other subjects, but ignored them in favor of casting - leading to her having to desperately catch up at the end of the year. This is a pattern she goes through every year.Life at home got easier as well, to her surprise, even if it went over ups and downs. She and Will spent time together over the summers and Jak quickly became fond of the rather gruff man's hidden sense of humor...even if she wasn't too keen on clam fishing after her early trips out. The compromise was letting her handle small jobs on board, but she still had to pitch in on the heavy work plenty. She liked being on the boat, but the back-breaking work and early mornings weren't for her. Will also suggested that Jak get music lessons - first in piano, song, and then in guitar. This hobby has definitly stuck, much to Jak's pleasure.Visits from and with Jack got more awkward, however; Jak wasn't exactly against her birth father, but the sense Jack was coming to visit more out of a sense of obligation than a really desire to see her eventually caused Jak to ask them to call them off. Jack had his own family, and while Jak had prepared herself for it, it still stung when Jack didn't protest ending the visits at all. Will formally adopted her the next year, when she was a Sophomore. The gesture definitely solidified the family, even more so than the new house and everything else had. Will might be rather non-plussed when it came to magic (though he loved the enchantments on his boat, as they made it much much safer), but he and Marge were certainly a couple that was going to last. With their family situation more or less figured out, pressure over the last few years has built for Jak to figure himself out. Her parents make enough to have a small house and live comfortably, but Jak certainly wasn't going to be living on their charity. She's therefore been doing her best over the last few years to get her act together, and her grades have risen...but she still has no clue what to do. The Tournament - and a chance to travel - were certainly interesting to Jak. She's a team player to some extent, and a chance to see Europe and pipe up over school pride definitely appealed to her. She's very fond of Salem - and along with the Quodpot team, is all for seeing Salem take the Tournament. School DetailsJak has had moderate to good grades consistently throughout her schooling, and stellar grades as of the last two school years due to a rush of trying to get them up. Jak participates on the Quodpot team extremely actively - to the point of dying her hair over them winning their championships - and is very much gung-ho for Salem to win. They’re both nice, chill guys who share a lot of interests and hobbies, so I can see them getting along really well both on the field and off it. How much of good friends they are is up to you. Mace would consider him a friend. Skip to next post Re: Going Nowhere Fast // Bennett Bishop's Network Reply #5 on October 28, 2011, 10:17:44 PM Samuel Lambright. Junior. Agrippa Hall.Sam doesn't really "get" people who are layabouts. However, I don't think he'd have anything specifically against Bennett, and he'd definitely make an effort to be friendly and welcoming. Also, they are teammates, and that weighs higher on Sam's priority list than personality quirks. As long as Bennett's easygoing nature doesn't get in the way of the game, Sam's fine with it. Jimmy likes Bennett- he's a friendly guy who gets along with everyone and he's good for morale. However, he finds Bennett's lack of motivation extremely frustrating. He sees the kid's natural knack for it and he knows he could be really good if he applied himself more fully. He's likely to give him a hard time, but is also likely to be very supportive and encouraging when he sees Bennett going in the right direction. Skip to next post Character Revamp Request Reply #7 on February 17, 2012, 01:36:29 PM Character Name: Bennet BishopLink to Application: http://absitomen.com/index.php?topic=9137.0Sections Changed: Effectively, all; I've simply included the entire bio below. While most of the substance has not changed, I had to go and turn a lot of 'he's into 'she's, so it counts as a change, and there's a few rewordings here and there.Requested Changes: Summary: -> Genderflipping in to a girl (+name + appearance change) -> Adding/changing things in the personality to make the character less passive and more likely to get involved in plots, and add a few quirks. -> Changed name -> Changed/Rewrote appearance -> Added to personality and rewrote it -> Added a short section to history, changed a few sentences, changed names/'hes' -> Changed "School Stuff/Why are they at the Tourney" to more accurately reflect personality changesWhy do you wish to change these area(s): As written, Bennet was intended to have a plotting partner that'd get him off his butt; unfortunately said partner pulled out after I made the character, leaving Bennet plotless and with a lazy personality. ("You guys have fun with that plot thing you're doing, I'mma play my guitar" about sums up the personality issue). He's also a bit too close to Dax, and so playing him was difficult, and rather repetative. Thus, I'm going to take a shot at a revamp, so the character can do something. I'd also like to expand my own range a bit and play some more girls (given my current ratio, haha) and I've played this female archytype before and had a lot of fun. She/Bennet are pretty similar and so the personality wasn't an issue beyond the 'problem' areas.Other RPed Characters this may affect: None, since Bennet never really RP'd, though he was mentioned in a few offhand comments. Skip to next post

Re: Going Nowhere Fast // Bennett Bishop's Network Reply #5 on October 28, 2011, 10:17:44 PM Samuel Lambright. Skip to next post
Character Revamp Request Reply #7 on February 17, 2012, 01:36:29 PM Character Name: Bennet BishopLink to Application: http://absitomen.com/index.php?topic=9137.0Sections Changed: Effectively, all; I've simply included the entire bio below. Skip to next post
