Wand: Colton's wand is 12 3/4 inches long and made of Ebony wood- good for luck charms and defensive magic. The core is made of aswhinder ash, which is particularly good at protection charms. The wood is pliable with a knobby shaft.
Physical Description: Colt stands roughly six feet tall. He's built wirey- tall, doesn't look very muscular, but has a lot of strength. He usually has a tan during the summer, but gets more pale during the winter when he isn't outside in the sun as much. He has curly, unruly, light brown hair. It looks like Colt never brushes his hair- which is close to truth. Usually he is a wash it and go type, not caring how it falls so long as it isn't in his eyes. His eyes are blue, and rest under thick eyebrows. Colt definitely has a boyish charm to him, with a charming smile and dimples.
Colt carries himself with confidence, and is a very expressive person- he talks with a lot of gestures and has a very strong presence. Colt generally wears worn blue jeans and t-shirts when out of his uniform. His family doesn't have a lot of money, so they wear things until they are worn out- new clothes are something that are not a first priority. He loves wearing ball caps and cowboy hats, too.
Personality Description: Colton is a nice guy. He's friendly and easy to get along with- always up for telling a joke or being the butt of one. He enjoys pranks and goofing off with his friends and loves to be surrounded by people. Even though he thrives most when in social settings, he gets along just fine if he isn't the center of attention and enjoys his alone time after spending days on end hanging out and having fun.
He definitely has a great set of morals and ethics. Colton was raised to appreciate the little things in life, and was taught from an early age that you have to work hard to succeed. He believes that hard work pays off, and that if you treat people right then they will repay the favor. Even though he works hard and sticks to his guns- Colton knows how to have fun and has learned how to balance play and work so that he can enjoy life to the fullest before he has to finally grow up and be an adult.
Colton enjoys sports and being outside. He loves playing outdoors, camping, hiking, fishing, hunting, sports, etc. When he isn't at Salem he spends his summers in the woods with his friends or his family, and loves going up to the Blue Ridge Parkway to explore. He has a lot of young cousins that he enjoys playing with and teaching how to play sports, etc. too.
Though Colton does seem to be your average nice guy, he does have some flaws. Colton's trust is easy to win, but almost difficult to regain if you break it. Though he doesn't fight if he doesn't have to, he stands up for what is right and if the first punch is thrown by someone else, he'll throw one right back.
Colton has a tendency to be jealous of others. He is jealous of those who get everything that they want without having to work for it, and often looks down on people that he thinks don't understand hard work or know what it's like to go without. He's never openly cruel to them, but he can be cold and indifferent to their problems- often thinking that they have no idea what it's like to have any true hardships in life.
Colton also can seem very ignorant. He comes from a very small town, and doesn't know much about the world or people from outside of where he lives. He often makes insensitive or inappropriate comments out of ignorance- not from cruelty. Colton only knows what he has heard from friends and family or what he has seen on the television. He knows very little about other cultures, religions, or places- and has done very little to expand his knowledge.
History: Colton was born into a lower-class family in rural North Carolina. His father works at a hardware store and his mother works in the cafeteria at the local elementary school. Their house was old, but sturdy- one of the many mill houses constructed (and some abandoned) after the mill shut down. Colton and his sister each had their own room, though, so they never had too much to complain about.
As a young child, Colton spent the days with his retired grandparents while his mother and father worked. His grandfather often took him out on "adventures", and taught Colt how to ride horses, catch crawdads from the creek, and bought Colton his first BB Gun and taught him how to aim and shoot it.
Eventually, though, he would have to start school. Colton entered kindergarten like everyone else, even though he always felt a little different. For some reason things seemed to go his way, but his parents told him that it was just luck. He was a good kid, so things just went well for him- and Colton just went with what they said. They were mom and dad, after all, and you didn't question your parents.
He had a lot of friends when he was in school. Colton was friendly and likable, and rarely got into fights or arguments. He was polite and well behaved, and although never performed spectacularly in his classes was a memorable kid. He was definitely average on most fronts.
Colton played in pee-wee sports when he was young. He played football and baseball, loving the chance to be outside and work out some energy. His little sister did cheerleading for the teams. Though the two of them fought a lot growing up, sport time was bonding time for the two of them.
Just as he was about to start middle school, Colton found out that he had magical abilities. He was shocked and couldn't believe it- magic wasn't real. It had never been real, and there was no way it could be real! Even so, he was offered a chance to go to Salem Witches' Institute and after his parents learned about what it meant to be a witch or a wizard and were convinced that it was real, agreed to send their son so that he could learn more about his special powers. Colton was just simply shocked. And soon began to think of himself as some sort of super hero- like one of the mutants from the comic books and movies he loved so much.
After starting at Salem, he was glad to see there were regular sports available. He never took to quodpot, but continued playing football and baseball. He had a hard time fitting in at once, feeling like the awkward country bumpkin. He had no idea what magic was, had never been so far away from home, and missed home terribly. Especially his little sister, who wrote to him twice a week to talk about how school was going.
He didn't have all the nice things that a lot of his classmates had, which was unusual. Where he lived most people were a part of the have-nots, and being put into a society where so many people had so many nice things was hard for him.
Eventually, though, Colton settled in and began making new friends among his very strange classmates. It helped to continue playing sports, and he found out that he was still particularly lucky- happy to learn even his wand showed off that he had a natural talent for luck charms.
It was surprising to Colton that he performed so well in his classes after leaving standard education. His wand work was impeccable, and the other magical subjects were so interesting that he couldn't help the urge to study and learn more. It was all so new and exciting! Of course he continued a few of his standard, muggle education courses- doing better in them in the new environment than he had at home, but even so, they were definitely not his strong point nor his favorite.
As he got older, Colton became the life of the party. He grew up to be very secure in himself, and was always telling great stories about things he had done back home and goofing off with friends. He was definitely one of the pranksters, and was always playing jokes on his buddies. He was good at balancing fun with work, understanding that even though having fun was something he should be doing, that hard work was equally important if he wanted to be something when he grew up and left Salem.
Now he is in his senior year at Salem. His grades have gotten better over the years, and Colton is known by students and staff to be amazing with a wand- even if his other strengths are not quite as noticeable. The idea of going to a foreign country for a tournament was something he couldn't pass up. Colt isn't from a family that can afford travel or elaborate vacations- and he saw this as his only chance to see the world before he has to graduate, get a job, and be an adult.
How Do You Fit Into Your House?: Colton was eligible for the tournament because of his character and skill with a wand. Though his grades are lacking in more muggle subjects, he has always shown an aptitude for magic. It is also widely known that Colton is a particularly lucky guy, and that he considers himself to be the good luck charm for his sports teams and academic groups. Colton is also well behaved and kind- the sort of guy who would make friendships instead of enemies, and would represent Salem with pride and continue to bolster the school's good reputation.

Sum up your character in one paragraph: Colton is your all around nice guy. He treats others with respect and works hard to get what he wants and hopes to make something of himself. He has very strong morals and ethics, and sticks up for what he believes is right. He appreciates the little things in life and rarely takes stuff for granted due to coming from a place where people have very little. He has impeccable wand work. Sometimes he comes off as not too bright- as he is very ignorant of the world at large.
