"Ah, young Mr. Krause... chosen by a fine 12 3/4" pine wand with a phoenix feather core. Bendy, and with an intricate swirl pattern carved into the handle. An excellent wand for creative charms." - Mr. Garrick Ollivander

Kirby has a pale, freckled body and ears that stick out, which he tries to hide under mussed red hair. He has bright grey eyes, a nose that’s slightly crooked at the bridge, and shapeless lips that are full and pink. At 16, he has reached his adult height of 6’2”, though his slight, sloping shoulders and reedy legs have yet to catch up. He has large hands and feet with long, thin digits that make it all the more easy to grip his paintbrushes with (not that he’s tried painting with his toes...yet.) All in all, he is a tall, thin, lanky body type. Though every now and again he wishes he wasn't so oddly proportioned (as teenagers are wont to do), Kirby doesn't put a lot of stock in the way he looks.

As far as style goes, Kirby likes to combine dressy and casual elements. Suit jackets, jeans, t-shirts, button ups, and trainers make up the majority of his wardrobe. He is also quite the scarf enthusiast. He doesn't believe in "dressing to impress"; he sees clothing strictly as a way to express oneself.

His posture is awful, as he is constantly slouching, and carries himself with long, unhurried strides. His  sense of orientation, however, is impeccable; he will never get motion sickness, as he is very accustomed to being jerked around by the Floo Network, which he has used frequently to move in between his parents' homes since their divorce. Kirby speaks in a soft baritone voice.

First and foremost, Kirby is artistic and exudes creativity. He loves art in all its forms, though his talent lies exclusively with brush and pencil. This, combined with his introverted nature, can make him seem pretentious and unapproachable. However, once you get to know him, you learn that he is actually a gentle and understanding person who is sensitive and very much in tune with his emotions. He also possesses a focus, organized mind.

His calm demeanour and level-headedness makes it practically impossible to anger him, but when faced with adverse situations he can become moody. Although he is confident in his abilities, he finds it unnecessary to stand up for himself. He is non-confrontational to the max, passive, and prefers to express himself through his art.

The idea of "blood purity" deeply upsets Kirby, as it stirs up cultural memories of Nazi persecution and the Holocaust, a historical event he learned of from his grandparents. Upon hearing anti-muggle/muggleborn sentiments, he will become inconsolably despondent.

It may appear that art is the only thing Kirby cares about, and though it's certainly a big part of his life and likely tied to his future career, it's not. He loves learning- knowledge for the sake of knowledge. His mind is open to all sorts of new ideas, though he is more rigid on questions of ethics. He feels he knows exactly what is wrong and what is right.

There is a certain seriousness about the boy. Though he loves a smart, witty joke just as much as the next person, he hates pranks. He sees them as needless, time consuming efforts that only serve to hurt people's feelings. His more playful classmates see him as a stick-in-the-mud, but he is not beyond loosening up every now and then. He takes what he loves very seriously, and can't stand to hear harsh criticisms about them.

Although he does not dedicate hours to studying like his peers, Kirby is an insightful boy with an open, ready mind. Creativity is a trait of Ravenclaw house that is sometimes overlooked, but Kirby has that in spades.

Felix Krause and Sara Jameson met at Hogwarts, where they became instant friends, bonding over being both muggleborn and raised in the Jewish faith. They began dating during their sixth year, marrying when they both turned twenty. Two years later, their son Kirby Edward was born on 20 March, 1993 in Manchester. The Krauses lived comfortably, and though he was not expected, adored their son. Unfortunately, the marriage became strained as the pair grew up and apart, and they divorced when Kirby was two years old. The split was naturally rocky at first, but Felix and Sara were able to work to a friendly relationship. Kirby sees his parents equally, traveling between their homes via the Floo Network. Felix currently works as a cursebreaker, and Sara is a mediwitch.

Though he lived in the wizarding world, with four muggle grandparents, Kirby grew up relatively aware of the muggle world and its history. He considers himself Jewish like the rest of his family, though this association is cultural, rather than religious. His life was plagued neither by tragedy or great triumph- it was perfectly normal.

He was far too young to be deeply affected by his parents’ divorce, so he was not bothered by his parents dating other people. Felix never remarried, but when Kirby was ten, his mother announced that she was to marry her boyfriend of six years, Gregory Pace. He liked Greg fine, but he was more excited about getting to spend more time with Alison, Greg’s daughter from a previous relationship. The two children, both in the same year at school, grew to be very close during their parents’ courtship; Alison’s fiery spirit complemented Kirby’s calm demeanor splendidly. At the wedding, Kirby served as his mother's "Man of Honour", while Alison was her father's "Best Woman". Even though they officially became step-siblings, the pair never viewed each other that way, but rather as one another’s best friend.

The year after, Kirby and Alison were both off to Hogwarts. The Sorting Hat did not take long to decide the best house for either child- Kirby was instantly placed in Ravenclaw, while Alison was a perfect match for Gryffindor. The two vowed not to let the house divide keep them apart, a promise they keep to this day.

The eleven-year-old Kirby was immediately drawn to the talking paintings around Hogwarts, visiting them whenever he had the chance. He often admired their colours or brushstrokes, and often asked them about their time and artists. One day, while conversing with a portrait of one of Hogwarts’ headmasters, it was suggested to the young boy that he try painting himself. Intrigued, Kirby took a bit of parchment and some paint, and found that he had a hidden talent.

Kirby’s first five years at Hogwarts have been ordinary: he maintained good grades and continues to absorb knowledge and hone his skills. Like any Ravenclaw, he loves to learn- he is particularly good at charms and transfiguration, but only manages to scrape by in Arithmancy. The only really significant event happened three years ago, when his little half-brother Evander “Evan” Pace was born. Kirby has been fine with being in the background... but will it last?

Kirby Edward Krause is a calm, passive, and artistic young man. He sort of looks like he's stepped out of a taffy puller, all thin limbs and messy hair. On the down side, he is sensitive, serious, and completely unwilling to "needlessly" stand up for himself. But on the bright side, he is focused, understanding, and confident in his abilities.

As you can see, Kirby is an above-average student who has kept fairly consistent grades over the years.

Astronomy: Kirby has kept good form in this class, since it's very visual. However, he doesn't like that it takes some of the mystery out of the night sky.

Charms: Kirby's favourite subject. He considers it to be the most practical of all the subjects, and is always amazed by the things magic can do (even though he was raised in magic society).

Defence Against the Dark Arts: This is a class Kirby has struggled with since his first year. He prefers to think before acting, and DADA at its core is concerned with quick reaction to threats. He does find the subject fascinating, however, and his success on his O.W.L. exam has kept him hopeful for another year.

Herbology & Care of Magical Creatures: Kirby has always had a certain reverence for life, contributing to his success in these classes. He particularly likes CoMC, because he's a big animal lover.

History of Magic: Dull, but easy enough.

Potions: Kirby initially had difficulties with Potions: he kept wanting to be more creative with the recipes, but it always backfired. However, after his second year he finally understood that there is little room for improvisation in the precise art of Potions, and now he's doing fine.

Transfiguration: Kirby's mind is focused and organised, which helps him concentrate on the more scientific art of Transfiguration.

Arithmancy: Kirby tried this out in his third year as an elective because his father is a Gringotts Cursebreaker, and he thought maybe he would be good at it as well. Wrong- he was complete rubbish at it and he really had to work for the Dreadful he got. The worst part, though, was having to go to Professor Levartian and tell her that he would not be taking her class again (though she probably already knew).

Ancient Runes: After failing miserably at Arithmancy, Kirby picked this up as an elective. It's not his favourite subject, but it's not unbearable, either.

Alchemy: TBD

Apparition: TBD
