It was a rather nice evening atop the balcony of the hotel, and although early, Vulpes figured that from where he was sitting it would be a rather nice sunset in an hour or so. Idly he checked his watch, and noted that it was about thirty minutes into dinner already. He doubted that any of the teachers would care, though, if they went over the allotted time. After all, they still had three hours of free time.

Smiling to himself at the prospects of what was to come, Vulpes took a sip from his glass of water. Today had gone rather well, being the first day of actually going steady with Aurora. Cytherea certainly was ecstatic over the whole thing, and spent a lot of time loudly talking about it. Vulpes mildly wondered what the other students thought. Would it even be a surprise to them? He didn't really think so.

Gently he leaned back into his chair and began humming "Rainbow Veins" quietly. Vulpes was much too excited. During the tours today he slipped a short not into Aurora's hand. No explanation on what it was, and Vulpes noted she didn't ask either; although he could have sworn he caught her giving him a look every now and again.

Curious, now thinking on it, to where she was, he cast a glance over his shoulder, hoping for a glimpse of Aurora.

Aurora had an amazing day.  When she awoke she had vaguely forgotten that the night before actually happened, but once she remembered, she practically jumped in place as she readied for the day.  Still keeping her mouth shut until she saw Cytherea, Eric kept bugging her relentlessly.  Though by the time she met up with Vulpes's sister, the look on Aurora's beaming face must have given her away, considering the moment she saw her she started squealing and hugging the life out of her.  Needless to say, Cytherea was excited that they were finally together.  Aurora was, too.

That being said, the note Vulpes had surreptitiously slipped in her hand that day made her blush madly.  Is this what girls my age experience?  Is this why they're usually so nauseatingly chipper? she wondered, realizing how silly she must be acting.  Aurora spent several minutes looking for something nice to wear in the wardrobe she brought.  Finally settling on her simple black dress with a bit of ruffles and matching heels, she fiddled with her curly hair nervously in front of the mirror.  Finally satisfied with the side braid, Eric burst into giggles when he saw her, making Aurora blush.  Eric was ecstatic she was going on her first date, saying things like 'oh, how they grow up so fast' and 'she's finally becoming a woman', making Aurora roll her eyes.

Finishing putting on a pink bracelet and oval earrings, she looked at her face sheepishly.  She never wore makeup, so applying her pink lip-stain and eyeshadow was a bit weird for her.  Even more so was the black eyeliner and mascara, making her flinch in anticipation as if she was going to poke her eyes out.  Is this what girls go through everyday just to feel presentable? she idly wondered before taking a deep breath in satisfaction.  She had to admit, she looked very pretty.

Once prettied up, Aurora made her way up to the balcony, trying to calm her nerves as she did so.  It's just Vulpes.  You don't have to prove anything to him.  He knows everything about you already, so just relax. she told herself upon reaching the top.  Taking a deep breath, she rounded the corner and stepped into the scene to see Vulpes waiting for her.  Smiling sheepishly, she swallowed the lump in her throat as she admired his outfit.  He really looks handsome tonight, she thought with a blush.  Realizing that he, too, wore pink, she gave a small chuckle.

Vulpes beamed at the sight of her. Aurora had never looked so... so... "Beautiful," he whispered answering his own thoughts. With a smile he stepped forward and took her hands, softly kissing her cheek. "Good evening, Aurora," he said happily, gently leading her to the table he had saved. It was rather small, probably just enough room for to set two separate dishes on, but he doubted she would mind any. After all, the positioning of it was spectacular.

Without even thinking about it, Vulpes pulled Aurora's chair out for her when the reached the table, before then taking a seat himself. Still wearing a smile, he rest his hands on the table, and sat up as straight as he could. "You look lovely tonight,"Vulpes said, smile widening as he words passed his lips.

Aurora beamed at Vulpes's compliment and blushed as he pulled the chair out for her.  Such a gentleman. she noted with a chuckle.  Blushing again at his comment of her looking lovely, she looked down into her lap and chuckled lightly.  "Thank you," she said lightly and looked up at him with a soft smile, "You look very handsome, yourself." she added thoughtfully and looked out at the horizon.  "You sure know how to pick a good spot," she commented and studied the picture, sighing in admiration.

Looking back at Vulpes sheepishly, she couldn't help being speechless for how amazing he looked.  Aurora always thought Vulpes was good-looking.  He had an adorable dimpled chin and a breathtaking smile that lit up his already beautiful eyes.  Maybe it's the atmosphere? she wondered as to why she was enraptured in Vulpes tonight.  It was like that earlier the day before when they were grappling on the beach, where there was a moment she was stunned by him, so maybe Egypt had that effect on people.

Either way, Aurora was on her first date ever, and it was with Vulpes.  Her best friend turned boyfriend.  Oh, how the world worked.  "So, here we are..." she said lamely, mentally kicking herself as she bit her bottom lip slightly.  What do people do on dates?

"Yep," Vulpes happily agreed. "And aside from eating dinner, I have no idea how dates work." He shrugged slightly. It was true, really. Never having dated a girl before, and never really ever paying attention to how romance and such worked, his best guess probably wasn't very accurate. But really, what did people do on dates? They had dinner and... talked? That was all he could think of for a date, really.

"How are you enjoying the trip thus far?" Vulpes asked lightly. He was fairly certain he knew the answer, but that didn't mean he shouldn't be polite and ask about it, right?

Aurora grinned and scooted closer to the table (really wanting to be closer to Vulpes) and rested her hands comfortably together on the tabletop.  She found it amusing he was resorting to small-talk on their date when they were well past that point to begin with.  Still, humoring him, she 'hmmed' a moment before taking a deep breath and answering.  "It's okay so far.  No lacerations or crisis's on my part, but, then again, it's only day two." she said playfully and gazed at him thoughtfully.

"I imagine dating ones best friend is essentially the same concept we've been doing already.  We don't have to go through twenty questions to get to know each other." she said easily with a shrug.  "Though it is a bit odd to say it out loud." she added with a soft chuckle and looked down at her yin-yang thumb ring.  There was something she had been meaning to ask him, but with the whole incident on the train-ride home, she felt it wasn't the best time.  Now, however, seemed like an opportune moment.

"Would you... ever wear a ring?" she asked, biting her bottom lip as she looked up at him sheepishly.  "I mean, you wouldn't have to wear it of course.  You could just... have it..." she trailed off awkwardly and nervously fingered the ring in question.

Vulpes let out a laugh. "No I suppose we don't," he agreed. It just so happened that he was worried how this date would go, which was probably why he was so wound up. With a small sigh he relaxed slightly, posture slouching. That actually felt better. Sitting up straight was oddly uncomfortable.

He blinked at the question. "A ring...?" That was something he had never thought about before. Curious, Vulpes lifted hsi hands and extended his fingers. They were awfully thin, now that he thought about it. Fairly dainty. Vulpes supposed a ring would look strange on them.

"Maybe," Vulpes said carefully, worried he'd hurt her feelings if he outright said no. "I'm not really sure. Though I bet if I got used to wearing one, it'd be a yes," he smiled sweetly at her.

"Why do you ask?"

Aurora took a shallow breath and pulled off her Yin-Yang thumb ring.  "Well, since I have a necklace from you, I wanted to give you something that's special to me." she said lightly and held the ring up between them.  Twisting it with her slender fingers, it split in two, one Yin and one Yang.  "And, since you're ljós mitt[1]; the Yang to my Yin, I thought this was rather fitting," she sighed and held out the Yang ring to him, smiling softly.

The Yang ring was white gold with a black pearl in the center, whereas the Yin ring was black onyx with a white pearl in the center.  Both rings were curved just so so it fit together perfectly with its partner like puzzle pieces.  Aurora wanted him to have it because he was the light in her life.  They were polar opposites like light and dark; life and death.

"You balance me out." she said sheepishly and shrugged slightly.

Vulpes smiled and gently took the Yang part of the ring. Carefully he turned it over in his fingers, debating which one it would fit best on. Finally he slipped it onto his right ring finger; it was a rather snug fit. Happily, he turned the back of his hand to show Aurora.

"How's it look?" Vulpes asked. He had never worn a ring before. It felt slightly intrusive, slightly unnatural. Ah well, best get used to it. "It's quite pretty, thank you," he added, realizing he hadn't said it yet.

Aurora beamed at Vulpes, ultimately pleased with herself for asking him to have it.  "It looks... a little odd, but nice." she said sincerely with a chuckle.  Now to get on with the date.  So, do we eat or something?

"Okay, so, what do you have planned this evening?" she asked a little playfully, adjusting the Yin ring on her thumb, finding it sparse without the other half.

Aurora and Vulpes's date went on wonderfully.  They ate, laughed, admired the view, danced to beautiful music and enjoyed each other's company.  Although there were a couple awkward moments, like Aurora spilling her drink on Vulpes and Vulpes stepping on Aurora's foot; it was a perfect first date.  At the end he walked her to her room like a gentleman and gave her a sweet kiss good night.

Aurora couldn't sleep that night with replays of the date flooding her mind: also the constant smile made it difficult to relax her body for a deep sleep.

Ah, young love.
