[June 20] Making a List, Checking it Twice [PM] on October 07, 2011, 03:18:16 AM Naomi hadn't really "unpacked" anything other than Kaz, who had gotten out of his cage on his own and was now making a show of catching his cage-turned-tennis ball being thrown against the wall. Instead, Naomi was sitting on her bed, having since shed her shirt and pants to reveal herself having been wearing a swimsuit the whole time. She rocked her legs back and forth in her black sarong tied around her waist as she studied the itinerary and leisurely marked it with a pen. Dancing, swimming, diving, and surfing were already and obviously marked, as anyone could decipher from her still soaking wet hair, "Eit'er you surfed before?" she asked looking up from the room's occupents: Veronica, her roommate; and Abby, who was just... Abby. Kaz had flapped back over to her and dropped the tennis ball on her paper and then casually perched on her shoulder. Naomi slid a frustrated gaze over the feathered creature before bouncing the ball off the wall again, "'Cus I 'aven't done it."Naomi then pursed her lips into thought before she added, "'Least not well..." Of course, Naomi's first concern about being in Egypt was learning how to surf. She had changed quickly, not savoring the feeling of salty goo over her clothing, and had availed herself quickly of a white sundress. Although she would never have admitted it to her friends, she wasn't aware that there were beaches in Egypt, and had assumed that they'd be stranded in a bleak desert and not on a gorgeous beach. "No, but I'd like to learn," she replied cautiously. She lived only about an hour from the beach, and had spent time there in the past with her back-home friends, but was oddly nowhere near coordinated enough to stand up on a surfboard. ...Nor did she have enough money to afford one. Huck had given her a good deal of his camp money to even go on this trip. "Do you think we'll have enough time?" She wore a sarong around her waist and a lightweight t-shirt with a smiley face on it. Just a few minutes ago, she'd shed her wet clothing in her hotel room, and scrambled around in her underwear attempting to unpack and find new clothes. Once dressed, she'd left with a grin and an invite that Raine could join them later, if she liked! For some reason, her roomie hadn't shown up yet."Nope!" Abby answered easily, unembarrassed by her lack of surfing skills. "I don't think many people here have surfed before. Unless that's what all of you do at the Hogwarts lake?" Abby giggled, not really expecting an answer to that. She leaned over to stare at the itinerary. "We have the whole day on the 22nd to learn, and the 23rd too! That's plenty of time. I'm sure it won't be too difficult. We just sort of... balance on the board, right?"She hopped up and stood on a stray piece of clothing on the floor, holding out her arms to the sides and miming movement on waves."We could knock on hotel room doors and ask if anyone knows how, so they can teach us," Abby added, sitting down again. She looked back at Abby and Naomi hopelessly hugged he shoulder to her chin. Then the younger Reid sister suggested going from door to door asking if anyone knew how, "Ch," Naomi clicked behind her white teeth, "Probably best off stalking th' beach an' seeing if anybaddy's surfing or lugging 'round a board." She wasn't really in the mood for door-to-door nonsense; she was sure someone would be driven mad about it. "'Dat way we get free boards all th' while," she turned her chin up over a raised shoulder and contently pursed her lips at the thought. "I'm sure some nice gentleman would be just thrilled to help a couple of nice ladies learn to surf." And then, she turned back to her bag and began fishing for her bathing suit. "Nice... attractive... gentleman," she finished, pulling her bikini top free. "Here we go. This should be justttt the ticket."Shaking her hair out with one hand, she glanced herself over in the mirror. "I will receive a free surfboard or my name isn't Veronica Danielle Ward." Her eyes squinted in determination. Skip to next post Re: [June 20] Making a List, Checking it Twice [PM] Reply #5 on October 09, 2011, 02:11:30 PM "I knew it!" Abby exclaimed jokingly after Naomi made the comment about the giant squid and cannonballs. When they suggested asking young men already at the beach, Abby had to agree that was a better idea, and couldn't help but stare at Veronica for a moment as the girl pulled out a bikini from her luggage. That just wasn't fair! Her protective and stick-in-the-mud older sister had insisted that if Abby wanted to go on the beach at all, that she pick out a more modest tankini, so that was what Abby had brought with her. Now she felt like the boring sixteen year-old among cooler fourteen year-olds, and there was something wrong with that picture!Abby shook her head and got over it quickly though, excited about the day ahead."Do we wanna go now?" She hopped up, clearly ready to run off. "We have time before lunch! I can change really fast," she added, as if it were a race. She wasn't one to fall over the opposite gender, or think much of them, but Naomi was fine with Veronica's often one-track mind, simply because she didn't cling to them and make them support her like a dead weight, "What if only 'di girls can surf, Ronni? What's yer plan 'den?" Green eyes were then half-shaded by her eyelids as her brows daringly rose. Then Abby was ready to jump up and do it that instant, "Oy," Naomi leaned up on the bed and bobbed a pen at the older girl, "you know you got a sister on your trip who likes to tell you 'no,' a lot, yeah?" her eyes fell back down to the itinerary, specifically on words like "tombs," "pyramids," and "temples," "I'd rather dodge 'dat all together.""Or conveniently get lost..." Naomi added with a winding growl, as she still eyed the schedule. Skip to next post
