[June 20th; 9PM] I want to push the button! (Open) on October 05, 2011, 02:40:00 AM Winifred had her shower just after dinner, put on her pajamas, and then began to explore the hotel during their free time. It was her first time in a real muggle environment, and she was excited to have a look around. Her father had said to stay inside, and she had obeyed him. When they had arrived and worked on getting settled in they had taken the elevators- which had been a lot of fun. Winifred had watched a muggle family when she had been on the elevator the second time with her father, and watched as a little boy had pushed every button. It had stopped on every floor and had made people groan. A lot.She had just stepped off the elevator on the top floor, pressing every single button so that it would stop every floor on the way down. This was her third time doing such a thing, and she waited on the elevator to close and for it to start going down- one floor at a time- before she pressed the up button. Winifred was surprised at how much fun muggle technology had been. The moving picture box in her room had been fascinating for all of fifteen minutes. She had lost interest when she couldn't find anything in a language which she could understand. What Winnie really wanted to do was go stand out on the beach at night- but not the first night. She wasn't allowed, but she would coax her dad into it the next night. She really wanted to see the ocean at night and take pretty pictures to show to her mom and her Uncle Archer- who surely would love to hear all about her Egypt exploits. (Uncle Archer who was currently probably having lots of fun with her Dax- whom she missed desperately whenever she remembered that he existed.) Winifred stood on one foot, pulling at the bottom of her footie pajamas, grinning when the elevator finally opened at the top floor again. She got back in, and pushed every button for the ride down. It opened on the next floor down- and one of her tour group was standing there! "Hello!" she greeted brightly. "Aren't these elevators just the neatest?" she asked. "And have you seen those tellyvisions in the room? We learned about those in Muggle Studies!" she announced proudly- because she had remembered. Winifred had actually gotten an Exceeds Expectations in that class! Skip to next post Re: [June 20th; 9PM] I want to push the button! (Open) Reply #1 on October 05, 2011, 03:24:47 AM Ananke had just finished a nice small meal on the restaurant balcony, and ordered a drink to take with her room. It was a carrot and orange fruit juice strained with sugar water and ice. It was sweet, thirst-quenching, and enjoyable enough to sit on her balcony with. However, she could not take the muggle contraption of an elevator back down to her floor because it seemed to be taking an eternity to get back up to the rooftop. The large witch stood in her simple and clean tunic with a decorated collar, pants with fine-pressed cargo pockets, and sandals for a little over five minutes before she decided to use the stairs. Upon arriving on the floor below her the elevators opened and she saw the source of the elevator's issues. She took a sip of her drink and studied Winifred's pajamas as the little witch greeted her and splurged about the fascination of all the muggle things she had found. Ananke fished out her camera from her pocket as she stepped into the elevator, "Yes, I've heard muggles can sit in front of them for a whole day or more, even fall asleep in front of them, cute pajamas dear," her voice was calm and complimentary, because while she wouldn't wear such a loud outfit, she did find something endearing about someone like Oliver wearing it. Then Ananke stepped back and snapped a picture of Winifred and all the lit up floors, smiling at the thought of staring at the picture of this event rather than reliving it."I haven't bothered with it yet though," she put her camera back in her pocket as she stood away from the opening and closing doors, changing the subject back to the 'tellyvisions,' "Found anything interesting on it?" she took a conservative sip of her fruity drink. (Open) Reply #2 on October 05, 2011, 12:26:54 PM It seemed that the elevator was taking exceptionally long this evening, as Isaac waited for the doors to open. He had a towel in hand with every intention of going down to the beach for a bit of star gazing before turning in for the night. That was, of course, if he could ever get down to the ground floor. The elevator finally dinged and the doors slid open. He gave a soft chuckle understanding now what had happened to cause the delay. It seemed one of his former students had gotten a bit curious. In her pink pajamas she was like the little kid one hopes doesn’t get on the elevator when you’re in a hurry. She had obviously decided to stop on every floor.“Good evening ladies,” he said, stepping on before the doors closed again and giving a nod to Ananke. He was in no hurry. It was still early enough and he simply wanted a few moments of fresh air before turning in for the night. After all, it was his first night abroad, always exciting in his mind. It felt like forever since his last adventure in the Amazon.“I see you’re discovering how the elevator works, Miss Oliver,” he commented with a smile. “I think this trip might give you students a better understanding of Muggle technology then my class ever did.” Skip to next post Re: [June 20th; 9PM] I want to push the button! She was not looking particularly forward to seeing her roommate later in the evening, even if only for the sake of her ears. Now she was at leisure to escape that fortune however, and perhaps settle down somewhere with a good story. Death on the Nile... it set the atmosphere, at any rate. Something about being here made her want to drop a few decades back into the 1920s, when knee-length skirts were all the rage and Chanel no.5 didn't smell quite so old. As she waited for the elevator though, the idea of lounging about the balcony restaurant became less attractive. This was taking forever! What kind of insensible parent had let their toddler get away with such-- DING, the elevator arrived and the doors drew open to reveal an odd collection of people from the Hogwarts party. Professor Fraiser was just finishing a sentence, "... understanding of Muggle technology then my class ever did.”Raine stepped in, nodding politely to the teachers: "Good evening," she murmured in a pleasant tone before giving Oliver a look that, if seen by a more observant person, might have conveyed the extent to which that outfit had offended the Gryffindor's eyes. Merlin knew how she dared leave the room in something so very... pink. Raine glanced up at the elevator buttons just then and sighed. Governess McGregor would have given her a good ear-tug for something like this. Skip to next post Re: [June 20th; 9PM] I want to push the button! "But every..." she paused for a minute, "every channel was in some weird language that I couldn't understand. It was just people or drawings who were talking and I didn't know what they were saying so it wasn't very interesting. But I have a feeling if it was in a language I could understand it would have been really cool!""I turned on their wireless, though," Winifred added. "Their music sounds funny, but I like it!" The music sounded a lot different from what she was used to hearing, and not just because it was in a different language. The instruments and everything just sounded different- but at least that made it interesting. And the next person to come into the elevator was Professor Fraiser. "Good evening, Professor Fraiser!" she said with a smile. "And yes- the ellyvator is very fun! It's so much fun to see muggle technology! I can't wait to see more. And to ride in a real live automobile! Do we get to do that?" she asked. "I sure hope so! I bet it will be the most fun. Much better than flying." Not that Winnie knew a whole lot about flying. Even as a soon-to-be-fourth year she had still not passed flying- she just wasn't any good on a broom!Winifred didn't know the name of the other student who came onto the elevator just after she had responded to her Muggle Studies professor. But that wasn't going to stop her from being friendly when she was in such a good mood. "Hello!" she greeted with a broad smile. "Isn't this ellyvator just the neatest?" asked. The Divination professor was mostly just thinking out loud. Winifred wasn't a fantastic student, but her endless enthusiasm and hyperactive nature could easily be employed elsewhere, preferably other than pressing buttons on an elevator, "Having a few languages under your belt can be very handy, even if it's just a hobby."Then Winifred proposed from nonsense about cars and the red-headed witch couldn't help but hopelessly breathe an, "Oh goodness..." She wondered if some students should really be handed muggle technology of any sort, much less be allowed to touch it. Skip to next post Re: [June 20th; 9PM] I want to push the button! (Open) Reply #6 on October 12, 2011, 06:59:59 PM "Isn't this ellyvator just the neatest?"Raine realized that this was being directed towards her and looked down at the Hufflepuff with a vacant expression. Well of course, she supposed, some of the wizarding world weren't quite used to elevators but wasn't there one in the Ministry? Perhaps not everyone visited-- or had a desire to. Not a cheerful place. There would be no putting down Oliver right now anyway, not with the professors about. Raine nodded her head slowly: "Oh, yes... the neatest. Winifred, isn't it?" An ingrained sense of courtesy prompted her to extend a handshake: "Raine."For all she knew, they really might have dropped a few decades back if people were still using words like 'neat'. She smiled very faintly to herself and added, as she gestured towards the buttons: "It's very convenient. Or it would be if we weren't stopping on every floor..." just as she trailed off, the elevator made another chime and opened its doors to an empty hotel corridor. Raine glanced at Cosmos and Fraiser, wondering if they found all of this irritating or amusing. Both, possibly. Their patience appeared to exceed hers. The doors closed and the whirring machinery set off again. The witch sighed, hugging her book to her chest as she leaned against the elevator wall. By the time they got down, she'd probably have to start the journey up again. Skip to next post
