Huck smirked at Strellie and returned her very sweet hug with an equal helping of saccharine. "No. I know. Y'know it's always been an issue for me, like. Being an overprotective arsehole. Y'know. But I think it's been kinda... way, way worse? ...Since the train? With Connor an' that?"

He didn't want to go into all the details again, but having Vulpes actually verbally attack his younger sisters- who were undoubtedly the only creatures he held more dear to himself than his friends- made him somehow feel vindicated on all his previous paranoia.

As a result, now, he felt that at any moment he might be asked to spring into action to deck somebody across his big fat mouth for saying something unforgivable about people who seemed above scrutiny to Huck.

He followed Strellie's face with his own, his smile broadening. "Y'alreet?" he asked, his eyes twinkling a little. "You need me to burp you?"

Demitria laughed brightly when Huxley called himself an overprotective asshole. Her ringing voice cut off suddenly the moment that the other Slytherin mentioned Conner, though. The Conners were all trouble and Vulpes kept trying to get her to give up the location of her Sanctuary. She dearly hoped that Church, who had caught her leaving the Room of Requirement with Leon on their last rendezvous, hadn’t told his brother anything. Then her thoughts turned to Leon and her face fell slightly. She had gone to Hogsmeade the day after Hogwarts ended to follow through with her promise to help him set up his new store. He hadn’t been there. He hadn’t been there the other three times she checked.
Her magical spring in the Room of Requirement had ended just as abruptly as it had begun. In its place was the promise of a drunken revel of a summer. She had been distraught for days and had accepted this night out without a single hesitation. She needed to get out of the emotional slump she’d been in.

Her face lit up again in an attempt to not let the others see her internal turmoil. “Forget about Conner, Huxley Ward. Don’t let him ruin our night.” Then he asked if she needed to be burped. She glared evilly, channeling her inner Kitty Li. It had been dormant for the past few weeks, but it was oh so easy to bring back. “I can handle my vodka, Ward. I’d like to see you do as well when not drinking bitch beer or whatever the hell that is.” True, she could feel herself getting tipsy, but she was far from completely inebriated.

The Russian’s attention was drawn to the dance floor where she noticed Xavier get closer to Jordyn. She wasn’t prepared for the small twist in her stomach. Why should she even care who Xavier danced with? She pushed the feeling aside and lounged back, letting the sparkles on her dress shimmer in the low light.

Jordyn was having fun.  At least she thought she was having fun.  She couldn’t stop smiling, that meant that someone was having fun, right?  Plus, the laughing.  She felt it coming up out of her chest even if she didn’t have anything to laugh at and she teetered on her feet a little bit.  She wondered why she hadn’t done this before!  Why she had been so against it!  It was so fun!

Even dancing with someone like Tawse wasn’t half so terrible as she could have thought it to be, at least not after two of those pink drinks.  She was feeling quite confident in that and as he spun her, she giggled and tried to keep hold of herself, though she was warm – the whole dance floor was packed and she was bumping against people left and right.  Rubbing against other sweaty witches and wizards was unbecoming.

Her hair fell messily over her shoulders and face and she grinned as it was evident another song was going to start.  “Let’s go back,” she glanced over to Huxley and Demitria, now notably apart, “It’s hot,” she informed him without blinking and turned, grabbing his hand to pull him along, not much caring for whether he liked it or not.  Apparently she had had enough and made the decision for the both of them.  “Dance with Demitria for a bit,” she added as they pushed through the crowd, though it would have been a miracle if he heard her.

At least she thought so - she couldn't even fathom that she had been yelling to be heard over her the music and the talking - the whole atmosphere.  It seemed she knew very little about her behavior, or she definitely would have been embarrassed.

Xavier chuckled alongside Jordyn. If there was any proof that the girl was getting drunk, it was definitely this. She was a stumbling, bumbling, giggling dancing queen and he was enjoying every single moment of it. Even if he was only holding onto it to look back on the next time she reamed him out for doing something stupid. Which, to be honest, was just inevitable.

His eyes glistened and darkened at the sight of her, flushed cheeks and a slight shimmer of sweat. He had no doubt he looked similar, sweating amoungst the motion and heat of the dozen of people around them, but seeing her like this, hair disheveled, laughing without a care, he had never seen her look so attractive. He wondered if she had any clue about any of it. It may have taken a few cosmos to do it, but the drunken Jordyn was leagues above the uptight snarky one he was used to getting yelled at by.

As she took his hand he didn't object and let her lead him back to the bar. Even with the blaring music and cacophony of noise the other people in the bar were making Xavier only just made out what Jordyn said despite her yelling. An excited heat flashed through him at the thought of getting Strellie back out on the dance floor but he held off for now. He needed to catch his breath and cool down some, perhaps even go out for another smoke. As he approached the bar he ordered another pint then joined his friends, "Havin' fun yet?"
