Hornbeam Wood is considered to be the most stubborn of wand-woods.  Those who have the necessary will to master it will be rewarded with an extremely powerful wand.
Augurey Tail Feathers were once associated with powerful Dark wands, as their cries were thought to signify an upcoming death.  However, they were in reality never a strong Dark core, and were more accurately a powerful core for Divinations.  Misunderstood students may find themselves bonded to an Augurey wand, although these wands are altogether quite rare.
Phoenix Tail Feathers are popular wand cores due to its versatility and power.  Its main strength lies in Defense Against the Dark Arts, although its adaptability can wrench it to hexes and jinxes if need be.
Rigid Wands - are the most difficult to learn new spells with, but once mastered, it casts more powerful spells than any other.
Physical Description:

5'11'', weighing at 158 lbs.  Athletic build.  Straight black hair falling to his jaw, round auburn eyes (like Aurora), pasty/pale skin.  He wears black pea-coats, black slacks, black dress shoes and silky white dress shirts (he likes to look presentable).  He's quite handsome (and uses it to his advantage).  He also likes to carry around a wooden cane (just for looks).

Personality Description:

Baine, when a wizard, was a lighthearted and carefree individual.  Even as a young boy he was a real people-person and quite the charmer.  Because of this, he was quite popular in the village; even among the older kids.  Baine had a drive and spirit that could surpass anyone else.  He would always be seen outside getting into all sorts of trouble; such as gallivanting in the woods and pulling pranks on his neighbors (which added to his adoration amongst the kids).  As a result, his neighbors didn't much like him while his parents didn't seem to notice.  He never cared about his parents or the fact that they didn't care about him.  He was thick-skinned and took everything with stride.

Once he reached his teen years he started to become even more of a thrill seeker.  His athletic build and handsome qualities made every girl swoon and every boy seethe in jealousy.  (Though he wasn't much of a ladies’ man.)  On more than one occasion he would pull school-wide pranks and get multiple detentions.  This, however, changed once he fell in love with Anabelle his fourth year.  He became more cautious of the trouble that seemed to find him and spent the better part of his last years in school trying to woo her.  (Although he still caused raucous when she wasn't looking.)

All in all, Baine was a rambunctious, lighthearted and loving man before it all went down hill.  When turned into a vampire, the blood-lust altered his persona and left him a mere husk of the man he used to be.  When preying for blood, he taunts and has a bit of 'fun' (such as torture and humiliation) with his victims before he takes their life.  This stems from his lighthearted nature as a wizard, but turned for the worse as his vampirism turned him sadistic and twisted.  He also uses his good looks and natural allure to tempt innocents into his bloodthirsty clutches.  Baine sees every life as a game; a toy to play with without any consolation to the value of life whatsoever.

Baine is now a wicked, broken soul, under the dark spell that pumps his lust for blood... and he just doesn't care.
History:

Born and raised in Eyrarbakki, South Iceland, Baine was a muggle-born wizard who attended Beauxbatons.  His muggle parents were neglectful and was an only child, so he spent his childhood spending time with neighborhood kids and exploring.  His parents, Brynja and Úlfur didn’t know where he was most of the time, nor did they care.  They both owned a market in the village, so they were busy a lot of the time, making Baine fend for himself.  Baine was an unwanted pregnancy, so from the beginning they didn't want anything to do with him (which was fine by him: he didn't care anyway--he was thick-skinned.)

He was best friends with Anabelle since they were kids, along with a few other schoolmates.  He dated Anabelle Þórsadottir in Beauxbatons and got married once they graduated (1991 Alumni).  Once he settled down with Anabelle, Baine became a hard-working supporter by taking up a job as a fisherman for the village.  He was a loving husband those three years before things went awry one fateful evening.

It was a few months after their darling daughter Aurora was born when one of Baine's school-mates (Björn, had turned into a vampire by his crazy uncle a few years before) caught him unawares.  Baine was out fishing for dinner when his school-mate (in jealous rage--he loved Anabelle too) attacked him and turned him into a vampire, saying “She’ll never love you as the monster you have become!”.  He fled in malicious glee and left Baine to his own devices.  Baine went missing when he transformed: since he was jaded and unaware of what was going on, he ran and didn't stop until he came upon Reykjavík, a large town many miles away.

Anabelle was scared for Baine: not knowing where he was or what happened to him.  Not waiting another minute the next morning, she called the authorities, and off they went searching for Baine.  It wasn’t until later that night when Baine returned and Anabelle saw the change in him.  She told him she didn’t want him around their newborn, and that he should get help from the Ministry.  Refusing, Baine left in rage and killed his own parents (among some villagers) for their blood.  He escaped Iceland just before he could be caught.

With a broken heart, Anabelle told everyone that Baine had died from shock at his parent’s awful death, never revealing to anyone that he was a murderous vampire out for blood.  Once Baine fled Iceland, he swore to find Björn and kill him for revenge.  After eight years of searching all through Europe--along the way killing random innocents for blood--he found him.  Once he exacted his much waited-for revenge, the thrill gave him a new perspective: "Being a Vampire is awesome!"

Through those eight years of blood-lust and isolation, he was driven mad, and his persona was completely altered until he became a husk of the man he used to be.

With a new plan, he reentered Iceland to turn Anabelle and Aurora into vampires so that they can be a family.  Crazy plans aside, Anabelle refused, and in another bout of rage, Baine killed her with his vampire powers: leaving no marks, no blood or signs of struggle.  Leaving, he swore he would start building the army with or without them, so he left Iceland again, swearing to return and take Aurora if it was the last thing he did.  However, first, he needed to find others like him and learn to hone his new abilities (and have Aurora grow up to be at her maximum power capabilities).

Eight years later, Baine has more or less done the same thing: such as traveling abroad (in the shadows) and killing random innocents in blood-lust.  He’s encountered some other rogue vampires and learned what he could from them about his powers and weaknesses.  (He now can turn into a bat and transport by will, but has to stay away from the sun, fire and garlic.)  Though, ever since May of 2009, however, Baine has become antsy from his lack of progression and started killing innocents of the masses: in places around London and beyond.  This has drawn unwanted attention from the Ministry, but now he wants to find Aurora to turn her into the monster he is.

Whether or not he’ll achieve this goal is yet to be seen…
