4. You must write your own answer for Part Four. It only has to be a sentence or two (but it can be longer if you wish). For a high grade, the description should be similar to but not exactly the same as the example answer. Again, it can be more detailed if you wish.

5. Post your exam sheet below, optionally accompanied by an excerpt of your character writing the exam and brewing the potion. If you wish to PM the completed exam instead of posting it here, you may do so.

6. PM me with the grade you wish for your character to receive. If you do not, we will assume your character passed, unless it is obvious he or she did not (i.e. you have put effort into purposely failing your character).

The potion is a funny looking purple, thick, and bubbling. It smells like a foot and I'm pretty sure it's going to explode here in a second. Sorry about the mess will clean up whatever later, I promise.

Erik's cauldron continued to boil suspiciously, but the Gryffindor himself was nowhere in sight. Eventually, the brew exploded.

THE POTION IS COLD AND SMELLS LIKE BLEACHED DEAD FISH. IT IS GREEN LIKE KELP AND TINGLES MY HAND WHEN I PUT IT IN. IT IS THICK LIKE KELPIE SNOT.

It took Heliotrope a moment to get started. Weren't the words and instructions supposed to be on the board? She stared at it for a few minutes, almost seeing the words that had been written there before. She copied what she could remember then proceeded to mix the potion. With stiff movements Heliotrope added and mixed ingredients with amazing internal measurement, not needing to use a scale or clock to keep the potion routine. When she was done she corked the green phlegm of her potion into a vial.

6. Reduce the heat and let the potion simmer for three minutes.
7. Add four horned slugs to the potion.
8. Add two porcupine quills to the cauldron.
9. Give the potion five clockwise stirs.
10. Wave the wand anti-clockwise over the cauldron again.

The potion is quite thick and consistent, a bit like broth if it was smooth rather than lumpy. It's a medium sort of shade of green, like an apple or a leaf. It smells very strongly, and the smell is a bit like vinegar mixed with mold. It came out of the cauldron quite hot, but it cooled down very quickly.

Potions was, thankfully, one of the few exams Pax was actually confident about. He glanced down at the exam parchment, and smiled a little when he recognised the potion they were to brew. He could definitely remember revising this one. After a few minutes thought, he started jotting down his answers, making sure he had all the steps and ingredients correct before moving on to brewing the potion.

In addition to being a class that Pax truly enjoyed, Potions was also one in which his wand, for a change, didn't let him down. He supposed maybe it liked the class just as much as he did. So when he was mixing the carefully ground fangs, and the slugs and the quills, he was pleased but not overly surprised to see the potion turning the correct procession of colours with each new ingredient and wave of his wand, until it finally arrived at the nice green colour he remembered being described in the textbook.

After carefully pouring a sample into the vial provided, which he then labeled, he wrote down his results, then, after checking the clock for how much time he had left, set about refining some of his answers about brewing the potion. Every so often, Pax glanced at his vial, partly pleased, partly wistful. If only he could feel as hopeful in all of his other exams!
