More Potions... [Mysti, then Open] on September 05, 2011, 01:40:12 AM Vulpes groaned loudly as he slumped in his chair. This was getting him no where. He glanced at the pile of notes he had for Potions alone. The stack was at least a foot high. With another groan he planted his face onto the desk. Why did potions have to be so hard for him. He could remember an absurd number of dates and events for History, and he was even able to remember things about plants. But potion ingridients, and what you mixed them to make? Nothing. He made a reach for his headphones, and came to the realization that Cytherea had taken them at breakfast thirty minutes ago. She was probably up in Gryffindor now, blasting the music. With a sigh Vulpes sat back up and leaned back, trying to think. 'Polyjuice potion -lacewing flies stewed 21 days, leeches, powdered, bicorn horn, knotgrass, fluxweed picked at full moon, shredded boomslang skin, and a bit of who one wants to turn into.' Vulpes glanced at the page of notes that contained the information. Much to his surprise he actually got one right.'Sopohorous - causes... deep sleep?' He glanced at the page. Close enough. 'Salamander blood - used in the strengthening potion?' Again he glanced at the page. "Incredible," Vulpes muttered to himself. "Three for three."With a smile, Vulpes went to reach for One Thousand Magical Herbs and Fungi, when he accidentally bumped his foot high stack of notes. It promptly fell off the desk and the papers scattered about the floor. "Really?" Vulpes muttered, looking up. With a sigh he slid out of his chair and onto his hands and knees to collect the pages. This would certainly gut some of his study time. Skip to next post Re: [May 31] Potions, potions, and oh look! More Potions... [Mysti, then Open] Reply #1 on September 05, 2011, 08:35:26 PM Mysti had been planning on studying alone. But as she walked into the library, she noticed Vulpes sitting at a table with his notes. She hadn’t spent as much time with her friend as she’d have liked (of course, Quidditch was to thank for that). And often studying with a friend could help her out. It was easier to have someone quiz you than to try and quiz yourself. Mysti walked towards the table as he knocked over a bunch of his notes. “Let me help!” She said, setting her own bag down on a chair. She then helped collect the papers (and there were quite a lot of them). After they’d all been gathered, she set them back on the table. It looked like potions, which she’d been planning on studying anyways.“Need someone to study with? Hadn’t we been trying to organize a time to study anyways? I was going to be studying potions as well if you don’t mind me joining.”But Mysti didn’t wait for an answer before sitting down in a seat next to her bag. She started pulling out her books and notes. Potions, ingredients, uses, directions, in (attempted) alphabetical order. She tried keeping them in order, but they did sometimes get misplaced. But what mattered was that she’d be able to find them with some ease.“What were you working on? We could test each other. Or have anything you needed help on? I think I’ve got most of the uses and ingredients down. There are a couple I could work on, but what about you?” She also had some notecards made up, but hadn’t put them to much use yet. It was Mysti. He smiled slightly, Mysti was always so friendly to him. A thought crossed his mind that that must make them friends, but he wasn't sure. They hadn't really spent much time together, and most of it seemed class related."Thanks, Mysti," he said still gathering papers. Finally once they had all been picked up Vulpes began shuffling them. 'I could have used magic...' he thought suddenly. With a sigh he opened his mouth to reply to Mysti, when she promptly sat down. He was, of course, going to say yes. But she seemed to answer that for herself."I was working on Potions," he said with a smile "Mostly the ingredients and the potions they're used for." Vulpes gave a slight shrug and sat back down, still rearranging the pages. "I'm pretty bad at remembering that stuff, but some how," he plopped the massive stack of notes back on the table and picked up the book he had originally reached for. "Somehow I actually have Polyjuice potion memorized." he let out a laugh and quickly recited it to Mysti."I could use someone to crosscheck answers for me though. Beats having to check on my own everytime. Vulpes gave another small smile. "So I figure it would be most efficient if we quizzed each other, yea?" Plan on masquerading as a classmate any time soon?”This would be good. Studying on her own could get boring, and Mysti didn’t want to be bored. She had been doing well so far, but also enjoyed helping others. Vulpes seemed like he could use some assistance as well, and again, she’d rather have someone to study with. “My best study tactic is having a piece of parchment and a quill with disappearing ink. Just keep writing things over and over and they’re bound to stick. Of course, that method has a tendency to come with hand cramps, but it’s worked well enough for me. Quizzing also works quite well.”She then grabbed some of the ingredients notecards and shuffled them up a little. “Billywig Sting. What main potion can you use that in?” The answer popped into her head, and she remained silent. It was funny how a couple years ago she hadn’t been as organized as she was now. Mysti realized she’d grown more into her studies, and hoped her parents would be proud by her grades this year. Of course, she hoped she’d be proud of them too with all the work she’d done, even with all her other duties this year.*Source using for Potions Ingredients Skip to next post Re: [May 31] Potions, potions, and oh look! Figured I'd learn it just in case."Vulpes thought for a moment on the idea of just writing out a repeated list of what he needed to learn. That probably would be a rather effective method. The constant reppetition would help engrain the information into his memory. Quickly, Vulpes pulled out a blank piece of parchment and jotted down the study theory. He'd start on it later tonight."Uh...." Vulpes said blankly as he stared at the card Mysti held up. Quickly he rapped his brain for the information he needed. It had something to do with poisons. "Antidote to Uncommon Poisons?" he asked, quite unsure of himself. It sounded right, but that didn't actually mean much.Figuring he should now as her a question, Vulpes pulled a piece of his notes on towards him. "What are common uses for an Ashwinder egg?" He asked, glancing over the top of the page. Skip to next post
