Physical Description: Huxley (called Huck for short) is handsome in a striking and off-putting sort of way. People sometimes assume he is a hooligan because of the way his face is structured. He has intense eyes, a light blue color, and some slight dark circles already forming beneath them- the guess has been made more than once that the boy either never sleeps or he smokes pot constantly. The former is more true.

Huck's face is longish, and his nose is as well, though it tends towards a slight wideness rather than any kind of hook-shape, as long noses are predisposed to do. His lips are full and inviting, usually smirking or otherwise teasing.

In terms of his physique, he is an athletic young man. He has a broad and capable build and generally sticks to a very strict diet- and it shows.

Personality Description: Huxley tends toward vanity. He isn't opposed to getting dirty playing quidditch or just messing around, mainly because he is convinced that being sweaty and dirty actually makes him look more attractive. A certain degree of cockiness and self-absorption goes hand-in-hand with his obsession with his appearance.

He is prone to teasing others. He makes no attempt to single out weaker people or people of any race or background; he simply enjoys making snide comments. In his mind they are rather unremarkable and throwaway jokes but he has been known to hurt feelings. He rarely, if ever, has actual bad intentions behind his little quips. In fact, generally, he picks people he actually kind of likes as his targets.

He's got a very strong belief in the concept of "if you want something done right, do it yourself." Huck is obsessed with the concept of the self-made man, and, coming from a humble background, he has made it his business to fight towards success. This is not due to any dissatisfaction with his origins, but rather to the desire to take care of his aging, hardworking parents. As such he tends to work very hard on coursework, which isn't terribly difficult usually as he is fairly bright. 

Also due to his aspirations, his favorite book of all time is the muggle classic The Great Gatsby, a copy of which is almost always on his person. He has read it nearly twenty times.

Despite the fact that his demeanor can come off as surly and sarcastic at times, Huck has a soft side that comes across at strange times- for example, he loves art and spends copious amounts of time crafting delicate carvings and doing printmaking. He is fond of younger students and tries to step in when he feels they are being targeted by older kids, which comes from the fact that he has three younger sisters.  He is a supportive and sweet friend to boys and girls alike, and is generally overprotective of his female friends.

Huxley is a fairly normal teenage boy in terms of his horniness, but he makes very little effort to approach members of the opposite sex, instead preferring to let them come to him. In a relationship he is very committed, although he tends to maintain a slightly bipolar dichotomy between tenderness and aloofness that women find particularly maddening. It's not a conscious effort, but it tends to make his romantic partners more easily manipulated.

Huck doesn't talk about his home life. It's a perfectly happy and great home life that he adores but he never brings it up unless explicitly questioned. He is fiercely protective of his parents and sisters and has the capacity to have severely hurt feelings over a stray comment about his mother being a muggle or about any of his sisters for any reason. Since he doesn't believe in class as a limiting factor, he's likely to take issue with the snootier kids from richer families who make comments about his lower-class upbringing. And while he takes his studies seriously, he's not above losing some house points every once in a while if it's for a good cause.

History: Huxley's parents, Abel and Emma Ward, live in a rather nice house in Shlidon in Durham County that Abel's family has owned for generations. Despite the fact that their income was humble, they never had to make mortgage or rent payments and as such were able to maintain a nice home where each child had their own room and they had the luxury of three bathrooms, which meant that Huck, with three sisters, rarely had to fight for shower time.

He was the type of kid who had a "girlfriend" from age five, and had, weirdly enough, gotten to second base before he began attending Hogwarts.

His father was a Slytherin alumni himself, and was living proof to Huck that one can be ambitious and focused without being a total douche. His ambitions weren't toward monetary success, but rather to a different type of success- to rebuilding and running the pharmacy his grandfather had founded. High marks in potions and herbology made him a ringer for the job, even when applied to muggle medicines.

His mother, a muggle, was the daughter of a railroad engineer who died in a train derailment. She took a job at the pharmacy Daniel was running to make ends meet for her mother and herself, as well as her younger brother, and the two became a fast pair.

Huck has three younger sisters- Veronica, Penny, and Francesca (Frankie). All are witches and all are very like Huck in terms of their concern with appearance. Veronica is fourteen, Penny is twelve, and Frankie is nine. Veronica and Penny attend Hogwarts as well.

Huck's grades have been good overall, with a few blemishes here and there. He's had pretty good behavior too, and only mouths off to students, rarely to teachers.

Upon arrival at Hogwarts Huck did his best to curtail his ego and make friends. He noticed with some degree of confusion that most of the kids in his house seemed to be very concerned with the bloodlines of their classmates. He wondered what other peoples' families had to do with achieving success for oneself, but, to each his own. Students from other houses tended to have preconceived notions about Slytherin too, he  noticed. Everyone seemed mildly surprised when he didn't laugh at their failures or join his housemates in picking on other kids.

As he progressed beyond first year, he began to notice that some boys, especially boys in his house, took delight in picking on the firsties. He knew it was a normal thing to want to haze the new kids, but did his best to try and make them feel welcome, including an open invitation to let him know the names of kids who picked on them; he would take care of them himself.

In a fact that he chose not to share with older kids, he takes personal time to tutor kids struggling on classes he's already taken. He lends out his old school materials and does his best to break the subjects down for kids; he himself remembered finding the wording in the books pretty archaic and really dense.

He played a good deal of Quidditch, but not on the school team. He'd start a lot of pickup games out on the pitch with his friends. The school team seemed a little daunting to him, especially considering the repertoire of the Slytherin team, but it's a path he might take eventually.

In the summers, when Huck goes home, he works as a camp counselor at a muggle summer camp. Girl campers trail around after him like ducklings and squeal when he high-fives them.



How Do You Fit Into Your House?: He is very ambitious and driven, although he isn't sure exactly what career path he wants to pursue outside of the one he knows is silly and childish (professional quidditch player).

Sum up your character in one paragraph: Huxley (or Huck) is a sixteen year old Slytherin who is very concerned with his appearance. He likes to tease people, and can hurt people's feelings unintentionally. Though he might seem aloof at first meeting he is very sweet and supportive on the inside, especially to girls and younger kids. Any comment about his family will spark his temper, and he is more than likely going to try to do the Cruciatus Curse on the first bloke to try and date any of his sisters.

What Experience has Prepared You For This Honor?: Although Huck isn't widely known as the best student on campus, he has a very intense sense of protectiveness when it comes to younger students and girls. He will do everything in his power to prevent harm from coming to people for whom he feels responsible, which, as a prefect would be... everyone in Slytherin House. He is used to keeping kids in line during his time working at a summer camp, and has been looking out for his three younger sisters very doggedly for their entire lives.

He is also probably the 6th year Slytherin male least likely to get into trouble, ironically enough.
What Do You Think the Most Important Aspect of This Job Is:? The most important thing Huck will do will probably be stopping squabbles and promoting house unity. He will also take it upon himself to make sure the younger students adjust well to life at Hogwarts and will try his best to keep them out of too much trouble. He'll be around to hear their problems and help them sort things out.
