[May 29th] Stop Doodling! (Lucas)

Ancient Runes, roughly 2:05PM, 29th of May

Runes review  could be such a tedious thing; especially when one considered Liviana had spent the majority of the previous evening going over the same material all on her own. Like most of her classes Liviana didn't struggle so much as drive herself to do well. She expected without much more effort she could get an E easily on the O.W.L.; and with a Hogsmeade weekend looming before her she found it increasingly difficult to actually focus on what the pretty blonde Professor had to say.

Letting her doe eyes roam from her notes to the faces of her classmates' either frantic scribbling or alternately already gazing at the professor in a glassy-eyed stupor. Dracon was paying rapt attention to Reid, how dull. It was then she noticed that Lucas was, as usual, hunched over his parchment; but his quill moved not in manic scribbles paced to the professor's voice but rather longer strokes as though he were working on a new design. With interest piqued, the Slytherine carefully tore the corner of her parchment and wrote:
Narwhal,
Reid will be only slightly more impressed with your doodles than Austerlitz. If you paid attention you wouldn't need to keep making study "dates". Pitiful excuse to try and spend time with me; just so you can talk about how fabulous my brother is.
before balling it up on the sly and flicking it at his head.

It been a pretty long week filled with repetitive reviews while all the professors switched into exam mode.  So far, Luc not heard any unrecognizable material and he'd let his notes turn into doodles.  With Quidditch done for the year, much of scribbling turned from plays and defense points to modifying his broom design.  There was a small chance he'd be getting to meet Dominik Wiedman over the weekend, and he wanted it to look like something more then chicken scratch and lines.  Someone decided that this would not do at all.  The ball of paper bounced off his head and onto his desk.  Blue eyes swept over the room for the culprit before unfurling the parchment to read.  It wasn't Sophie's scattered script, but instead neat and clean and could only belong to one girl.  Luc's mouth curved into an unintentional smile as he ripped a piece off his sheet to jot on before passing tossing it over.

Wiedman-
If you have a better excuse, I'd be happy to use it.  Anything to please her highness.
P.S. I like the boots better

She was not sure what she had expected; but found herself having to bite back a giggle and quickly look away. She could not get caught passing notes, least of all to Lucas Norwood. She hadn't paused to give much thought to what her friends might think of him; though she was sure she'd hear all about it if she actually introduced him to Dominik. She hadn't done that before with any boy - if they knew him it was because they were old family friends.

So presenting Luc presented a problem in so much as it brought added scrutiny during the symbolic changing-of-the-guard-passing-of-the-crown to whomever Maeve chose as new Queen Bee. It wasn't that Livi particularly coveted the title - in fact she couldn't have cared less about the survival of the "monarchy" except that Kitty wanted her claws in the crown so badly she was out for blood and dirt on all of them.

Still, there was a glimmer of an almost unstoppable smile that twitched on her lips as she unfolded the paper that landed on her desk. She bit her lip to kill the grin and jotted back:
Come up with your own better excuse! I'm a very busy important person after all, Royalty nearly! I'm glad you appreciate stylish footwear; but rest assured they were not for your benefit.
I just happen to like looking tall.

One, you're smarter then me so you'd come up with way better excuses.  Two, you're so busy you have to fit me in during class?  Wow, I don't know if I can keep up with royalty.

I'm glad you can admit and are not threatened by the fact I am, indeed, smarter than you. However, being as such, I believe it would be a henderance to you personal growth as an intelectual if I were to take over your excuse making duties. I expect fifty fresh excuses on my desk by Monday Narwhal.

When else would I squeeze you in? It's not like you're paying attention to Reid anyway; though you really should. What would people say if you trolled out of something as easy as Ancient Runes? You really should think more about your academic reputation; it's a matter of house pride isn't it? If it's not it should be - what else have the Claws got going for it? After all, all the pretty girls live in Slytherin.

Sadly you probably can't keep up with Royalty. It's ok, I'm used to it.

What an outrageous flirt, the cheeky bastard; of course it didn't keep her from flirting back. It was a fairly enjoyable way to kill the reminder of a review class. Just because Livi was driven most of the time didn't mean she didn't need a break every not and again; that's all this was - a distraction. As far as distractions went Lucas wasn't a bad looking one, it was just important to remember that was all it was. After it was all said and done she was spending the summer with her family and maybe traveling (if her sister and Dolly could be trusted to plan anything); he was going to do whatever it was Norwoods did when they weren't modifying brooms.
