Physical Description: Archie is fairly average in height, even on the tall side, but he has a tendency to slouch. He has short-cropped mousey-brown hair and an unassuming, friendly face. His gray eyes are often framed by crow's feet due to a constant grin playing across his face beneath his high-set cheekbones. His arms are toned but are by no means full of bulging muscles. Any muscle he has is clearly the result of cardio exercise (namely running) as opposed to weight training. Wiry would probably be a better word. He dresses very casually and managed to make even a suit and tie look pretty casual, which is a feat. Scattered across his body are various scars from injuries owing to animals he works with.

Personality Description: Archie has a long history of slacking off. He gets easily (and willingly)  sidetracked from what he perceives to be boring things in favor of things he finds to be exciting, like sports or, luckily for him, anything animal related. At times he has a terrible penchant for gossip, and enjoys talking trash. He has a temper, and has been known to hit the bottle every now and again. People seem to have two main complaints about him- number one, he is flippant, and number two, he is a bit of a playboy.

In terms of his better nature, Archie is generally regarded to be very charming, though his pick-up lines usually get shot down because people can see through his schemes. He has a great sense of humor, and is generous in the way that he never really considers his possessions to be his own, anyway. In 99% of cases, giving someone something of his grants him far more satisfaction that owning the item ever did.  He prefers to solve his problems by joking around and using his winning smile to slip unnoticed out of conflict.

He is also a slight chauvinist- not that he thinks he is smarter or more capable than a woman- he just subscribes to old-fashioned views on gender roles. He would feel the need to protect a woman, for example, believing somewhat that she would be incapable of doing it for herself. In terms of the workplace he has no such reservations about women, however.

He loves animals and spent all his free time at school devoting himself to the study of anything related to animals- werewolves, animagi, care of magical creatures- it was all totally intriguing to him. He is an avid supporter of werewolf rights.

History: Archie Friar was born on an absolutely torrid day in one of the poorer counties of Arizona. It was a vastly Native American area, and the non-reservation school he attended was sparse at best. His father, Freddy Friar, was a muggle who owned a longhorn steer ranch where Archie grew up. His mother, Angie, was a witch who met Freddy through mutual friends Yas and Shiloh (wizards, unbeknownst to Freddy). He has one younger sister, Haley. She does not have any magical ability.

Archie attended Red Rocks Academy in Sedona, and lived in Kananeski-Anayeni house, where he was often confined due to disciplinary issues. Despite attending the school, he also played on the public high school's football team, as "homeschooled" students were allowed to do. He was a Beater for the house Quidditch team, and got good-to-moderate grades in most subjects, and exemplary grades in Care of Magical Creatures, Herbology, and Flying. As a result, he was able to stay on an extra year there and become an intern for a Magizoologist working on the staff.

The internship was a dream come true for Archie, and he demonstrated a genuine passion for caring for magical creatures. ("I respect anything that could rip my head off.") Following his internship he took a position at a large preserve for magical creatures located smack in the middle of the desert. It mainly worked with Hippogriffs, who were in danger of being wiped out in North America.

Archie was tipped off about a job at the British Ministry of Magic by an old girlfriend- and by girlfriend he means a girl he banged and never called back- and moved to London to take the job. The climate change was super annoying to him, and getting used to a non-desert setting was incredibly difficult. He had never really BEEN to another state, much less lived in a different biome altogether.

He doesn't get paid much at all, and lives in a cramped one-bedroom apartment where he lives a sad little bachelor life eating canned spaghetti and watching trashy talk shows. He has yet to meet a girl he finds cool enough to enter into a serious relationship with (or is it the other way around?)

Describe your job duties and how you go about them: Archie is a Magizoologist. He is well-versed on many varieties of magical creature, and travels around lending his expertise to situations that get out of hand when animals are involved. He answers to a lot of people and generally there isn't a lot of call for a Magizoologist, except to occasionally birth a baby kelpie or some such garbage. Occasionally he has to harm an animal in order to protect people, and those days make him wish he was dead. If it wasn't his job, he would probably knock the people down to make it easier for the animal. No, he doesn't mean that.

When he isn't actually doing work, he sits at his desk and flicks paper footballs at pictures of his boss.

Elaborate on your expertise in your field: He has served in several internships and positions related to the subject, and has lived around animals his whole life.

    Writing Sample:

Sum up your character in one paragraph: Archie is a young, charming American Magizoologist working for the Ministry in London. He gets along well with most creatures- human or otherwise- and would give his shirt off his back to keep an anthill dry. On the flipside, he has a small drinking problem and tends towards chauvinism.
