[May 7] The Pressure's On [Morvin, PM] on August 15, 2011, 03:52:00 PM Jordyn was constantly studying these days. Well, she tried to be anyway. When she wasn’t in class, or eating, and occasionally getting some beauty rest – oh, with the odd bit of necessary gossip and friend time thrown in – Jordyn was with a book and doing what she had to do. Now, long after her friends had gone to bed – because they apparently did not care so much about passing their OWLs like she did, she was staked out in the common room by the fire. Her books were spread out in front of her, all of her notes from the year in a pile, and her hair pulled back in a ponytail, skillfully kept away from her face. She also pushed all the chairs back and away so her circle of studying could be free of bumps or obstacles. It was almost like one of those sacred spaces they learned about in History of Magic, you know, before people actually used wands – and when they lived out in the middle of nowhere. Jordyn’s sacred space, thankfully though, was not some homage to fertility or war victory, though. She just wanted to pass all of her OWLs and move up to sixth year without a problem. It was good to know, also that she retained something from History of Magic, outside of the goblin wars. She could go over them a thousand times – she would still never truly understand why they happened and what the goals were, except that goblins hated humans and had some serious issues with sharing. Whatever, she thought to herself as she grabbed for her potions book – which seemed to be far less interesting than the actual goings on of the potions professor, but Jordyn had to remind herself that she did not really care what Professor Vaillancourt was doing with her life outside of being fabulous, and opened to the seventh chapter. She was lucky only the sound of crackling fire was accompanying her studying, she thought as she looked at the book, anything else would be terribly distracting. First of all he didn't give a toads knobbly back if he passed or failed his N.E.W.T.S; no one needed qualification to become a criminal. Morvin had never dwelled on the fact that most criminals ended up in their predicament without any planning. They never wanted to be a criminal but Morvin did. He didn't want to be some small time crook either but a truly powerful Dark Wizard; the type Voldemort would of had by his side. It helped that he had a traditionally Slytherin attitude to most things. Muggles were worse than dirt and getting to the top was more important than who had to be pushed to the bottom to get there. And secondly he only did well in classes he thought were useful in a fight. Morvin entered the Slytherin Common Room after being out of bed after hours. He had been bored so he had went for a walk around the castle. The room was deserted except for one Slytherin. A fifth year that he recongised as a prefect. He wondered if she would tell him off for being out of bed? He wouldn't care of course. He didn't care about much to do with Hogwarts these days, he was positively sick of the place and couldn't wait to leave.Ignoring the girl he sat down on a plump, and obviously green, chair infront of the fire. He liked Fire. It was the element he most used in a fight due to it's sheer ferocity. Plus a ten feet wall of solid fire usually caused your opponent to crap himself and drop his wand. Morvin knew where he got his reputation from. People considered him a bully and a brute. Both of these were true of course but he did have another side. He was more than capable of being a cunning little git. Able to plan ahead and wait for as long as it took to get what he wanted. He had always thought he would of made a perfect general. Or even better. A Death Eater. He saw the girls notes and he sniggered. Who needed to take notes? Only idiots couldn't remember things that were important. And only teacher's pets kept their notes so that they would form into a pile that was at least 12 months old. An idea popped into his devious little brain and he pulled his wand out and pointed it at the pile of papers before "Luteusfors," the spell turned things into dirt and sure enough the paper piles was replaced by a mound of mud. The spell was one of his own creations, and had a simple counter spell. She didn’t pay much mind when Morvin Sharp, a bully in the classic sense, came down into the common room. She figured it might be best to just ignore him. The fact that he thought he was some kind of dark wizard, capable of destroying all things was simply too much for Jordyn to deal with in one day. Honestly, she couldn’t imagine anyone she went to school with truly becoming evil – except for, perhaps, Kitty Li, and her type of evil was definitely not the type that Sharp strove for. Additionally, Jordyn heard rumors that he had a dark mark tattooed on his arm, just to pay tribute to Voldemort and his followers. She had never been able to confirm the rumor, but strangely, it was not one she was skeptical of. She couldn’t imagine why anyone would want such a thing – if anything, there was this new WBA business that was all over the newspapers, but the Death Eaters? Didn’t he pay attention in history class? They lost. Trying not to spare a glance – though she found it hard, particularly as he was not seated far from her, and seemed to be in a mood, or maybe it was just his consistent expression – Jordyn just flipped the pages of her book, idling over potions and their directions, seeing her own notations in the margins. The simple word that came out of Morvin’s mouth made Jordyn practically jump in her seat and then, when she saw the effects, gasped quite loudly. “What on Earth?!” she squeaked, looking at what used to be her notes, now oozing and spreading out in a puddle near her. She had to scramble to save her books – and herself – from getting mud all over the bottoms. She grasped for her wand and levitated all of her things, swiftly placing them down away from the mess. “What do you think you’re doing, Sharp?” she sneered, her lip curling, “And what did you do to my notes?” Taking away points would be… pointless, it’d only be punishing her housemates. After all, everyone knew Sharp did not care about points or the house cup. It cost them a lot so far, and Jordyn wouldn’t contribute to it. “Turn them back.” Skip to next post Re: [May 7] The Pressure's On [Morvin, PM] Reply #3 on August 16, 2011, 07:40:44 AM “What do you think you’re doing, Sharp?”Morvin smiled at the girl. He had never been friendly with her but they had shared a common room for five years so they knew each other. It had always ammused him why anyone would become a prefect. He had put it down to one of two reasons. To gain some semblance of power and influence over one's class mates, he could respect why someone would want this, but most of them just wanted to be teacher's pet and add it to their CV. Most people, well most people he knew, ignored the prefects. Well at least Jordyn was not a Muggleborn. When the Mudbloods were awarded any form of influence and prestige above decent Wizarding folk it infuriated him. But everyone knew his view on Muggles and Muggleborns. Most people didn't share them, the wizarding world had changed greatly in the last twenty years. Morvin was well aware that most people doubted his ambition. Why wouldn't they? It was not a common future goal but it was one Morvin planned to pursue as much as someone who wanted to become an Auror; but they were all Ministry suck ups and blood traitors. "Or what Dimbleby? Will you and your little Prefect Pals go and tell on little old me?" He jested as he stood up and moved towards her. "Why not do it yourself? Or are you failing Professor Short-Arse's class?" There were not many things Morvin enjoyed. But toying with people was one and making fun of others was another. He only had a few months left at Hogwarts so he may as well enjoy himself while the other students fussed over N.E.W.T.S Skip to next post Re: [May 7] The Pressure's On [Morvin, PM] Reply #4 on August 16, 2011, 09:12:18 AM If there was one thing Jordyn hated, it was when people smiled at her when she was angry. Did she look like she was joking? Honeestly, it just ruffled every single one of her feathers and she did not find what he did to her papers to be anything even close to amusing. He obviously had no respect for anyone, including himself, which led Jordyn to wonder why he did not drop out as soon as possible and save them all the trouble of dealing with him? She narrowed her eyes as the taller boy got up and walked toward her. Jordyn might have been small, but she was not afraid of him. If he did anything to her, she could almost guarantee he’d be expelled. Physicality with anyone, especially a prefect (and a girl), was not looked highly upon, and she would be sure to bring it to the right people. For now, however, without the actual offense, she had nothing to go on except he ruined her notes. “No,” she hissed at him, “I’d prefer to deal with this here and now and not waste any more precious time on you or your juvenile antics than I have to,” she answered honestly, a distinct cut to her voice. It really was wasting time on him – and Jordyn didn’t even think he cared all that much, he just liked to make people annoyed and be mean. Honestly, if there wasn’t a higher intention behind someone’s malicious actions, why do them? It was just senseless.Jordyn supposed she could not be surprised that someone who idolized mass murderers and the agents of anarchy to really respect that, however. “I don’t fail,” she looked him up and down, “like some people – and will ask again, for you to turn my papers back and mind your own bloody business,” she got caught up and poked him in the chest, unafraid of what reaction she might get. Jordyn wasn’t getting pushed around by a bully at almost midnight. This was ridiculous. Skip to next post Re: [May 7] The Pressure's On [Morvin, PM] Reply #5 on August 16, 2011, 10:56:36 AM He knew he was being juvenile. Messing with a prefects notes was not exactly the magic of a Dark Wizard but he had nothing else to do and seeing people get annoyed was always quite fun. Also it proved that his latest spell worked; which was always good to know for sure. Morvin was not looking for a fight though, well not a fight in the traditional sense. He thought Jordyn was rather interesting really. It was just a shame she had become a prefect. Perhaps they could of even been friends?"I only fail because I couldn't care less about Herbology and Care of Magical Creatures. I pay attention in lessons that are important, lessons that improve wand work and allow me to extend my already considerable talents in dueling. And in the lessons that I decide are important I don't need to take notes to get Os." He smiled, he had noticed it seemed to annoy her when he did.As she poked him in the chest he looked downwards at her finger. "Really, are you done now? I mean, I understand that you want to touch me, afterall your only human, but maybe try something a little more subtle next time." Ignoring her demand to turn her papers back to their original form he moved closer to the fire. He pulled out his wand and started to move it about. The fire began to echo the movements of Morvin's wand, taking the form of animals and dragons. Morvin would turn the mud back into it's original form. But his boredum had been quelled for the past few minutes and he wanted to see how much longer he could annoy the prefect before she lost her temper; he wondered how long it would take. Morvin decided he would ignore her request and, still facing the fire, he said "So, Jordy, are you afraid of falling your O.W.L.S? When we took them a girl fainted in the examination room, another threw up and a third got so nervous she started balling her eyes out." She bristled on the inside, hating his attitude and snark about all of this. She just wanted to study. “Well aren’t you just the next Merlin then,” Jordyn rolled her eyes – not amused or impressed by his lack of care about even the things he deemed unimportant. He should have dropped them if he didn’t think they were important – he had that choice. Some people could just be so contrary to their own self-interest. He claimed to be so smart, but he was failing classes and ruining his record – for what? Nothing. Not that Jordyn cared. It wasn’t her life that was getting ruined – at least not yet, and only if he didn’t turn her notes back into paper. Laughing in his face, Jordyn shook her head. “I am very done, Sharp,” she shook her head, ponytail bouncing against the back of her neck as she watched him walk away – if there was one thing Jordyn hated more than being smiled at when she was angry, it was being walked away from. Particularly, if he was just going to be playing some silly games in the fire place. Putting her hands on her hips, she was about to demand he put her papers back and go – but he spoke and Jordyn felt her heart thump in her chest. She was worried about such things, terrified she’d fail – she’d heard all of the horror stories, and felt like one of them could potentially be her. But, Jordyn took a deep breath, through her nose, and realized that this was what he wanted and she shook her head – thankfully behind his back still. “I just like to be prepared,” she pointed out, “and I’m not nervous. I’m exceptional under pressure, regardless of whether I like the subject or not.” She flipped her hair and bit her thumb nail. “And right now, I don’t like this subject – and I’m going to ask, again, for you to turn my papers back.” Skip to next post Re: [May 7] The Pressure's On [Morvin, PM] Reply #7 on August 16, 2011, 02:07:35 PM Morvin never liked Merlin. He had to admit he was an exceptionally talented Wizard, perhaps the greatest ever, but he was far too muggle tolerant for Morvin's taste. He wanted Wizards and Muggles to live side by side with one another and he even worked for, or with, whatever, an ancient King. King Arthur or something. It was rather disgusting really. That a Wizard of such incredible power should bend knee to a Muggle monarch and serve his will; it made him sick to the very core. “I just like to be prepared,” she pointed out, “and I’m not nervous. I’m exceptional under pressure, regardless of whether I like the subject or not.”"Know look who is blowing their own trumpet. I can see right through you though Jordy. Your just like all the rest of them. And, like most of our fellow students, I bet you'll end up living a normal, white picket fence life. You'll live for decades, maybe have children and get married, maybe not in that order, and then die. You will have achieved nothing and will be remembered for nothing." Secretly that was Morvin's greatest fear. He wanted to be remembered long after he was dead. Talked about in a two hundred years as one of the greatest Dark Wizards since the Dark Lord. Of course he knew he was a LONG way off. But everyone started as students at one time. No one suspected Voldemort would do what he did, few suspected that Circe would become as evil as she was and how many people thought Herpo the Foul would create the first Horcrux- know that is something Morvin wanted to do. “And right now, I don’t like this subject – and I’m going to ask, again, for you to turn my papers back.” "You know, you didn't have to tell me you were going to ask me before asking me the question. You could of just asked me. And did your parents not teach you manners Dimbleby? You're supposed to say please when you ask for something." Skip to next post Re: [May 7] The Pressure's On [Morvin, PM] Reply #8 on August 16, 2011, 02:41:31 PM “You think that,” Jordyn rolled her eyes at him – always pretending to be so smart, like he knew just what was in the cards. “Until you’re sought out by the DoM for your seer abilities, I won’t have you tell me what I am – or aren’t going to do.” Honestly, Jordyn didn’t let anyone dictate her circumstances – she navigated much more difficult things than this. Some prick who thought he was going to push her around and shove whatever malfunction he had about leading a normal life onto her, that wasn’t happening.Jordyn had plans. She played by the rules now so she could make the rules later. She didn’t know what she wanted to do – perhaps follow in her father’s footsteps (though without the dubious financial decisions), or maybe even navigate the right social circles and find her way in diplomacy, or something of the like. Magical Education was also a possibility – the Board of Governors had a nice ring to it, in Jordyn’s mind. She was anything but normal, and held no fantasy of living the kind of boring life that Sharp pinned to her. Clearly, he did not know Jordyn that well. “I somehow doubt the inclusion of the word please would have influenced your decisions on my behalf,” Jordyn pointed out, tapping her wand against her hip. Though, perhaps the use of the word please would have made her seem humble to his gigantic ego, which Jordyn was happy to ignore. She did not feed those that did not deserve it, and she would not be considered one of the reasons Sharp was a bigger prat than he already was. He reveled in this sort of behavior, and folding to him, pleading to his more human emotions (as though he had any) was what he wanted. “Besides, we’ve obviously both taken lessons from the same etiquette coach – or else you’d have known not to spell my things without permission.” “If you wanted to study for Transfiguration, all you had to do was ask - you could have practiced becoming an animagi - let me guess? Probably a toad,” she said, dead pan. Two could play at that game, and Jordyn was a willing participant by this time. Perhaps she could ruffle his feathers in the same way he had ruffled hers. It would only be too wonderful if she could. Skip to next post

I’m exceptional under pressure, regardless of whether I like the subject or not.” She flipped her hair and bit her thumb nail. “And right now, I don’t like this subject – and I’m going to ask, again, for you to turn my papers back.” Skip to next post
Re: [May 7] The Pressure's On [Morvin, PM] Reply #7 on August 16, 2011, 02:07:35 PM Morvin never liked Merlin. You're supposed to say please when you ask for something." Skip to next post
Re: [May 7] The Pressure's On [Morvin, PM] Reply #8 on August 16, 2011, 02:41:31 PM “You think that,” Jordyn rolled her eyes at him – always pretending to be so smart, like he knew just what was in the cards.
