[April 20] World Out There [Closed]

on March 25, 2009, 01:16:31 AM

When he’d finally been pulled from his essay (on various potion ingredients and their necessity for wizarding life—blah), he’d acted a bit irritated and hesitant. George had even feigned a whine—not that Arielle would be deterred. In the end, he’d been unable to keep the smirk from his lips, leaving his splotched parchment and still warm quill without a second glance. He could finish it later; he’d given enough excuses for others that it was easy to take the advice.

It hadn’t helped that he was all ready dressed for going out. If anything, it was his subconscious way of telling him he didn’t really want to be cooped up inside. He just wanted to get out and enjoy the weather, be it cool, warm, rainy sunny or cloudy. Anything with a bit of fresh air would be a welcome change. Clearly he’d been thinking that as he’d dressed after classes in a comfortable pair of pants, light shirt, and a faded hooded zipper jacket.

Classes had been a bit of torture that day as well. George wasn't sure if anyone else felt as if time could go backwards, but he was fairly certain that the more homework he seemed to accumulate, the slower the hands on the clock moved--as if they were too lazy to deal with the task at hand themselves. Then the time would fly by when Monday morning came... and he'd wonder how he wasn't able to finish this or that assignment. George had to keep up on it this year, though, as best as he could. One day off now and again, though, wasn't a bad thing, right?

Letting himself be led down to the ground floor, he moaned and groaned at any chance he could. The grin, however, was stuck on his face and he nearly skipped alongside the younger girl. In fact, he did slide the banister down one set of stairs, nearly landing unceremoniously against the ending (that would have hurt, he was sure of it). Not a moment too soon had he stepped off it had the stairs started to shift as well. So he jogged the rest of the way down normally, no matter his desire to take the silly and boyishly ridiculous routes down.

Once they were on the ground floor, he stopped her before scooping her up and spinning her around in a circle, laughing and nearly toppling over. He helped her onto his shoulders and started out of the courtyard towards the pitch. “So why did you have to drag me away from possibly the most important essay of my potion class career, Arielle?” He was a stocky short guy, and Arielle didn’t weigh as much as two knuts. Or how did that saying go? Probably wasn’t that important right then. “You know how important essays are to me.”

Arielle couldn't, wouldn't and shouldn't keep herself cooped up all day either. In fact she had decided that about ten minutes into one of her two essays that were due, both of them as usual put off until the last minute. Gabbie had been no where to be found, and when she was looking for adventure, she knew exactly who she could coerce into spending quality time with her.

Having seen one of her favorite people in plain sight, Arielle proceeded to drag George away from his ohhh so important classwork for a little high flying fun. Classes were only gaining importance for her since her loving Aunt Analiza started threatening her with owls if she didn't get her act together. If she didn't straighten up and fly right, for lack of a better term, she wouldn't be on the quidditch team the following year.

Her Aunt's threats were never empty. Arielle knew that, and so she did actually make extra effort here and there. Her grades were even doing better than average, which was where she hovered when she didn't make any attempts at studying or essays. Arielle was known better for having a broom in hand rather than a quill but that went without saying.

Arielle didn't seem to need much coaxing to get George to come along with her. In fact they were making great time as he slid down the banister she took the stairs two by two even hopping off three steps up and keeping herself on balance as she landed. They had always been the playful sort, the two went together well like rain drops mixing in a puddle after a hard rain. They blended both being energetic, and out going. Though he had recently been more book attentive than usual Arielle silently forgave him for that.

"Well if you must know," she chuckled from atop his shoulders, "You are being too stodgy in there all wrapped around quill and parchment. You can't honestly tell me you would rather do school work then be around me?" Her hands found his hair as she fiddled with it while he walked. Her black sneakers swayed as they walked on, her only hope was that her Uncle and Cousin wouldn't see her around a boy for once. It would be nice to spend an afternoon with a friend without defending them and keeping herself without another threat of being fitted for a chastity belt.

“Well if you must know-”

And he must. George liked to be in on the know, just because anything else would leave him dying of curiosity. Of course, he was selective in what he cared to listen to. Some gossip items weren’t his forte. Girls took the trophy for the world’s ‘most useless things to talk about’ sometimes; if it were about something important, though, George was all ears. It also went doubly more important when it was about him. Then again, he supposed most people felt that way.

Rolling his eyes as she dragged it out, he smirked and walked purposefully towards the Pitch. He didn’t worry about who might see them; in his mind, they were good friends and he was being his usual self. George did know the older male Snarks were a bit overprotective, which was cute… Though how they planned to protect her when they weren’t allowed in the Gryffindor Tower was beyond George. And frankly, not his concern. When he hung with Arielle, his cares were less important than usual (which was probably dangerous for the both of them).

“-You are being too stodgy in there all wrapped around quill and parchment. You can’t honestly tell me you would rather do school work then be around me?”

George loved his hair played with. Closing his eyes a moment, he let out a loud sigh. “I can’t?” Smirking and glancing up, his feet thankfully finding the next step without a hitch, he raised an eyebrow. “Well, maybe…” His gaze moved forward again, and his step had a little jump to it, which was somewhat awkward considering the bit of extra weight on his shoulders. Tapping above her knees, where he was holding her so she wouldn’t topple off, he bit his lip in thought.

“So what are we going to do besides break a few rules? Have any new maneuvers you want to try out?” His eyes lit up at that idea and he glanced upwards towards her again as if to show how much he liked that idea, his eyebrows raised eye on his forehead. “I have an idea for one…” It was dangerous and stupid, but sounded fun nonetheless. Sometimes being brash came with its fair share of consequences. He wouldn’t put her in danger, though, not intentionally. Practicing silly stunts just above ground level was always the first step; that way, when you went up higher, you knew when it felt like you were losing control, and when you had it.

It was easier to fall three or five meters than twenty or thirty… Reaching up, he poked her in the side playfully, laughing. “If you think you can keep up with me on the broom, that is.” He wasn’t on the team this year, but he was making himself work so hard now so he could be on it his final year at Hogwarts. One more year to spend with Arielle, and all their other friends; that was the way to look at it.

Many girls her year seemed to enjoy prattling on about rubbish, much of it being make-up and if a boy will like her in a certain hat. Nonsense Arielle couldn't find the time to make interesting for herself. Gossip wasn't even something she dabbled in, though she did like knowing who was up to no good that week.

In her head she would compare what they had done to things she has gotten away with. Always fun to see the faults and flaws in what she might do next. Arielle learned from those who went before her, if they did it and got caught she tried to figure a way to get around it. Like sneaking out to go flying or playing man hunt until the wee hours of the night. Sadly though it was not foolproof, Arielle landed in detention more than she or her family would like.

It was her attitude toward befriending people that irritated Alex and Gavin that got her in a bit of hot water. That and Merlin forbid they be boys. It's not that they could see her in her house, which was her one saving grace for having some freedom. They couldn't keep her away from every guy in the castle, they were good but not that good.

It was freeing just being outside with one of her friends. The breeze flowing through her hair, which she had left down. When they came up to the pitch she pulled a tie off her wrist and pulled her long brown hair into a ponytail, anything to keep it from getting in her eyes when they were flying. "No you can't!" Arielle replied matter-of-factly, "Lying is not your strong suit with me George Carter and I refuse to believe you would rather being learning that dribble over being around me." 'Especially with a broom involved', Arielle thought to herself with a growing smile.

“So what are we going to do besides break a few rules? Have any new maneuvers you want to try out?”

Arielle cocked a brow, "I have read a few in Quidditch Quarterly that the Magpies use. However I didn't bring it with me." If she was on the ground she might of very well stomped her foot in agitation. It was so simple, read the article and bring it with you don't leave the bloody thing on your night stand most likely sitting under a pool of water from your drinking glass. "Why what did you have in mind?" She was eager to get on a broom and fly around with him, he was a bloke she enjoyed goofing around with. Despite his constant studying habits that have crippled his adventurous side as of late.

“If you think you can keep up with me on the broom, that is.”

Poking her side, Arielle squirmed and laughed, "Ha you obviously forgot who you were talking to there Georgie. Flyings in my blood, it's what we Snarks do. Heck I bet even my grandmother could have beat you on a broom," she smirked before proceeding to chew on her lower lip. It was fun to just toss jokes back and forth with ease.

“No you can’t! Lying is not your strong suit with me George Carter and I refuse to believe you would rather being learning that dribble over being around me.”

Laughing, George shook his head and let out another sigh, as if he all ready knew this. He could lie to some people, though he rarely did. Honesty, for him, was a big thing. At home, though, if it kept him from getting in trouble… well, all kids told ‘little white lies’ to keep from some sort of punishment or another. It was just too bad he couldn’t blame any of his mishaps on the ‘younger kid’ or cousin that was running around, since his things were usually pretty ‘George-like.’

“Dribble? Dribble?! I’ll have you know, Miss Snark, that that dribble happens to be of the highest grade of dribble, and I won’t have you putting it down like that.” He had attempted a voice of smug snootyness, and ended with a laugh and relaxed his posture a bit. He put himself in the part when he changed his voice as well, and switched easily back to himself.

“I have read a few in Quidditch Quarterly that the Magpies use. However I didn’t bring it with me.”

Laughing again, trying to cover it with fake disbelief, he sighed heavily and shook his head. “Just like you to build it up and then nothing.” Giving her leg he was holding on to a light pat with his right hand, he rolled his eyes. “Magpies shmagpies, anyway… If they can think of it, we can think of it.” He had enough guts and too little intelligence to do some of the things that came up as ideas in his head. Sometimes it was the harebrain stunts that saved the last goal or made that winning point.

“Why what did you have in mind?”

“Besides getting back to my dribble?” Looking up to the sky, he smirked—the day he looked forward to essays would be the day… of some day. His ability to think up a good metaphor escaped him, but since he hadn’t said it outloud… he let it pass and continued on their way to the pitch. The broom cupboards would need to be accessed, of course… and if she wanted to wear pads, she’d need to drag them out. “I had a couple of ideas…”

“Ha you obviously forgot who you were talking to there Georgeie. Flyings in my blood, it’s what we Snarks do. Heck I bet even my grandmother could have beat you on a broom.”

He could always count on Arielle to make him laugh, and he did. “Well yeah Arielle… I would have to let her win. I can’t go around beating the elderly on a broom, my reputation would go out the window.” Smirking, he glanced around as they finally made it to the pitch. “You must have forgotten who you were talking to, Ari…” His uncle, Jamie, was a retired Quidditch player.

“Hey! What about trying this on the broom?” He wasn’t explaining himself very well, so he helped her down unceremoniously before grinning wide. “The whole sitting on my shoulders trick? We can practice it low.” George was one of those types that, when given a challenge, did all he could to overcome it. He had to, his personality demanded it.

Little white lies and denials were a way of the younger members of the Snark family. She could lie her butt off when she needed to. That and when it came right down to it her 'cute' factor did the trick. Ana could see right past it but her father fell for it now and then. When she wanted to get her way Arielle made sure  to turn on the charm and her father was putty in her hands.

“Dribble? Dribble?! I’ll have you know, Miss Snark, that that dribble happens to be of the highest grade of dribble, and I won’t have you putting it down like that.”

Arielle choked a bit with laughter, "Your highest grade work? Are you joshing me mate? Honestly, think about it. When we are old and hobbling around the old age home for wrinkly Witches and Wizards do you really think we are going to talk about that oooooh so interesting paper you once wrote about wolfsbane and it's properties? Um no lovey we are going to want to discuss the times we snuck out late at night and caused mischief or when we went flying without any regard for who wanted us to buckle down to our work."

“Just like you to build it up and then nothing.”

Her fingers were still twisted in his hair playing with the pieces of it. "Excuse me young man when have I ever built things up and didn't deliver." The words left her mouth quicker than she could catch them and she felt a redness running up her cheeks and making a home on her neck. It was dangerous and she could see herself getting into a spot of trouble if she kept playing with that line of thought.

"A few ideas are nothing if you can't make them worth the big talk there George. And I do know you but do you not know me. Because if you did you wouldn't challenge me when you know full well I could whip your sorry arse. Oh and what reputation are you talking about anyway, we all know my oldest family member could do the same." She had wrapped her arms around his neck right before he slipped her down onto the ground.

Losing her footing a bit Arielle toppled over and did a somersault to her feet. "Tadah always a reflection of grace and poise." Arielle bowed and gave him a playful wink. "Why would you want me to ride your back on your broom? I mean come on I understand that you want to be near me Georgie but that's just dangerous." Her eyes sparkled with mischief, "However I'm sure we could figure out a two person broom trick could really be fun."

“Your highest grade work? Are you joshing me mate? Honestly, think about it.-”

He paused a moment in his smirking to consider it. Honestly, George didn’t want to think about being ‘old and hobbling around.’ Getting old scared the dragon dung out of him, truly. He would much prefer a brave end to rotting away slowly in a creaky old rocking chair. She made a good point, however, and he laughed to show he had thought about it. “I have snuck out tons of time… I have to be able to say that I put forth effort on a paper at least once so that I can yell at… any kids I have to deal with when they don’t want to do coursework…”

Not that he thought that far in advance. He still wasn’t sure if kids in his future were probable. George didn’t think he’d much like the whole ‘family’ ideal… How could someone care about another that much to make themselves miserable with worry for the rest of forever? He wasn’t stupid (generally speaking anyway), though, and did realize ‘mistakes’ happened. Still… “They wouldn’t make rules unless they wanted them broken, though…” She always forced him to see the truth of the situation. At least, their truth.

“Excuse me young man when have I ever built things up and didn’t deliver?”

If she hadn’t been making his day with her fingers in his hair, he might have responded with more gusto. As it was, however, he merely let out a soft moan and closed his eyes, his step faltering just slightly before he blinked and started walking again. It was then her words hit him and he grinned, glancing up at her again. “I wouldn’t know, Snark. Should I ask Josh?”

“A few ideas are nothing if you can’t make them worth the big talk there George. And I do know you but do you not know me. Because if you did you wouldn’t challenge me when you know full well I could whip your sorry arse. Oh and what reputation are you talking about anyway, we all know my oldest family member could do the same.”

“Well, it sounds like someone is also a bit short on the ‘few ideas,’ miss I-Forgot-The-Article.” He merely let her threat slide by, grinning silly as she helped him set her down.

“Tadah always a reflection of grace and poise.”

With a pat on her back, he raised his eyebrows in disbelief. “Whatever you say, Arielle. Whatever. You. Say.” Winking, he stepped back put his hands up to show that he wasn’t looking for a fight—innocence should always work for George, in his opinion. Grace and poise to describe Miss Snark, here? That was rich. Whose eyes was she trying to pull the wizard brim over?

“Why would you want me to ride your back on your broom? I mean come on I understand that you want to be near me Georgie but that’s just dangerous… However I don’t know a two person broom trick could really be fun.”

Rolling his eyes at her, he gave her a look that said ‘pah-lease.’ A half smirk came to his lips as he shook his head. “And here I thought you craved stories to talk about… Danger only makes the heart grow… fonder…” Making a face, realizing he hadn’t made much sense, he waved his hand in the air as if to brush it off. “Danger is good, a fair bit of it. But since you can’t handle it… what broom trick do you have in mind?”

Arielle was still picturing George hobbling about with a broom that had a horn on it and wouldn't hover more than five feet above the ground. Snickering a little at the mental image Arielle tried her hardest to stay focused. This was no laughing matter, no it was and it was bloody hilarious. Being slightly younger than George, Arielle had the age thing on his easily. If he ever said anything all she had to mention was him hitting middle age or ask him if any of his joints were cracking at the moment.

Still pondering that, Ari wondered if she should buy him some suave for older folks at the apothecary this summer. It would be fun to send him that in an package just to see what sort of response she might get. That however was a little while off and they were now at the pitch to spend time together not for her to figure out how to embarrass him during the warmer months.

Family, she had a decent sized one. Being an only child herself she never thought much of having kids or siblings. What she did know was her uncle Gavin and cousin Alex were the brothers she never had. They looked after her like she was a piece of china when it came to boys and other wise rough housed with the best of them growing up. She never could picture herself having kids growing up because she was always focused on making it on a quidditch team some day not focusing on family but on a career. Maybe she was odd in that respect but she figured that unlike her mum she would wait until much later to start a brood of her own. Even if it was only one child.

“I wouldn’t know, Snark. Should I ask Josh?”

The question caught her off guard. "I'm sorry what in the name of Merlin's tie dyed socks are you talking about?" That's when she realized what he meant and she hauled off and punched him in the arm semi-hard and semi-joking. "Give me a break, unless you are interested in him I am pretty sure there is nothing going on there for either of us." Arielle just rolled her eyes, Josh was a house mate that was where that ended for her. Though if George fancied him, she would have one more thing to tease him about. So it was a start, even if she highly doubted it.

"I have a ton of ideas, they are just coming up a bit short at the moment." She stamped her foot and grinned in a goofy manner. They could probably go at this all day if they wanted to.

"Danger only makes the heart grow… fonder"

That was where she cocked her brow at him and thought he was looking at her with three heads. "Look, I am not afraid of anything." She walked towards him with confidence, "So if you wanna try some trick where we risk our lives, so be it but I'm not scared damn it!" Crossing her arms she looked at him as she stood looking at him curious to what he was going to suggest to her next. "Forget my broom trick, what sort of danger did you have in mind there Georgie?"

“I’m sorry what in the name of Merlin’s tie dyed socks are you talking about?”

He bit his lower lip and took in a deep breath through his nose to try and keep himself from laughing. The look on her face was priceless; he wished he had a camera to take a photo. At least then he could have watched her reaction switch between emotions forever and then some. Moving pictures said a thousand words, wasn’t that the saying? It also expressed the way the person was feeling at the time. They were nice that way.

Then she hit him, and his laugh exploded from his mouth with a mixture of a hard inhale and rub of his arm, acting all hurt. “Ow…”

“Give me a break, unless you are interested in him I am pretty sure there is nothing going on there for either of us.”

Laughing and dropping his hand, he shook his head and put an arm around Arielle’s shoulders. “Aw… did that not make you want to giggle at all, Ari? Lighten up, babe.” Winking at her, he leaned on her a moment before standing up straight again. “I thought I’d at least see how you were doing in the whole dating department. Have to keep an eye on you, you know… So if not Josh, who?”

“I have a ton of ideas, they are just coming up a bit short at the moment.”

An eyebrow rose as he smirked at her knowingly. “A bit short, like someone else I know.” Putting his hand out just above her head, he brought it back and grinned wide. “And someone else…” Putting his hand above his own head, he made a face before smiling and dropping his hand. He could joke about his height; George was much better at taking his own jokes than someone else’s in that department, though he knew in Arielle’s case it would be joking. “Ton of ideas, and yet you can’t state one, totally a girl.”

“Look, I am not afraid of anything… So if you wanna try some trick where we risk our lives, so be it but I’m not scared damn it!”

He always knew Arielle would rise to the occasion. It was part of the reason they got along so well. She should have known, though, that he wouldn’t put her in harms way intentionally, or out of spite. If anything, it would be very accidental. And he would attempt to do anything to prevent it. It was part of the reason he practiced new stunts close to the ground—falls hurt.

“Forget my broom trick, what sort of danger did you have in mind there Georgie?”

“I all ready told you… Now, tell me yours, Ari, so that I can decide if it’s more dangerous and worth our time.” He was generally a cuddly person, with his girl friends. Stepping next to her, he put an arm around her loosely and leaned against her from the back. It was completely friendly, and a bit lazy. “Unless you were just bluffing…” Smirking, he tilted his head and look at her from the side.

George was ruddy lucky that she was hopelessly goofy for him. Her emotions were a hot button, they could swing in an instant on a moments notice. It was something he could sure of because George knew her so well. Arielle Gale Snark was known for being hot tempered and spontaneous.

"Ow? Really you are such a big girl. If I wanted to spend time with a little woman I would have asked Gabby to come out here with me." Nudging him again she walked towards the Quidditch sheds.

There locked away was her spare broom, her older one had splintered. Arielle didn't know how that happened, it wasn't like she flew into a tree the other month and landed in the hospital wing for a couple days. No that didn't happen at all. In fact she was writing to her aunt to see if she could sway her father in investing in a new broom for her as soon as humanly possible. The rickety old comet she was flying didn't do well for her.

"Lighten up? I might very well  lighten you if you keep that up." The thought of her with anyone other than him made her stomach a little squishy. Sure there was her fleeting crush on Devlin but that was never going to happen, and she accepted it a long time ago. "You have to keep an eye on me? As if there is a gaggle of boys lining up to be my suitor? You must be off your nut. Oh and it's definitely not Josh who I fancy."

She wasn't going to let him know that easy. It would come off as silly. Besides she was considered young, she would be fifteen that year but she still hadn't had her first kiss or even a boyfriend. When you had the last name Snark and you were a girl you were lucky if you had a boy looking your direction without being made the target of two protective Slytherin males.

A height joke, she snickered. "I am not short! I just haven't grown into my age just yet. You on the other hand old man are done for."  They were the right height if you asked her and she didn't want to change that anytime soon.

"Don't you dare use my gender against me. I want to try things, new things I just can't think of anything other than you hanging upside down on the broom and me standing straight up on mine," she shook her head, "Okay mine is really dumb. What do you want to try?" He had always been semi-protective of her especially when they were flying together it was nice. She felt like she was wrapped in a security blanket when they went through the air.

“Ow? Really you are such a big girl. If I wanted to spend time with a little woman I would have asked Gabby to come out here with me.”

Laughing loudly at that, George glanced at her from the corner of his eyes. “I doubt she’d like to hear you say that. I’ll make sure she hears about it.” His grin almost hurt it was so big. He could imagine the other young hot headed Gryffindor’s reaction to that. In fact… George wanted them all to be in the same room at the same time so he could enjoy it. “Next time you shouldn’t stick me with those bony knuckles if you don’t want me to complain.” Pushing her shoulder playfully, he smiled.

“Lighten up? I might very well lighten you if you keep that up.”

“Sure you will, lass, sure you will.” He’d like to see her try! He merely smiled, though, and glanced around the pitch. Good day to have some fun… the winds were a little strong, but it was nothing they hadn’t handled before.

“You have to keep an eye on me? As if there is a gaggle of boys lining up to be my suitor? You must be off your nut. Oh and it’s definitely not Josh who I fancy.”

Rolling his eyes at that, George let out a deep sigh and put his hand on her shoulder, squeezing it to get her attention. “When your family leaves, you’ll see quite a difference I think.” Giving her a half smirk, he let his hand drift off her shoulder and rested back on his waist. “Definitely not, huh? So you have someone you fancy but it’s not him… older or younger or same age?” He was constantly curious, whether it was for his own good or not. This was a mystery, and he liked solving those.

“I am not short! I just haven’t grown into my age just yet. You on the other hand old man are done for.”

Grinning wide, he expected it from her. “I can’t get away with heels either! I’m completely done for. I’ll just have to do with shorter women.” Sighing as he leaned heavily against her shoulder, he shook his head in disbelief. “You haven’t grown into child size yet, how long do you expect it’ll take to finally get to fourteen?” Grinning again, he stepped back to get out of the way of any more physical abuse he might endure.

“Don’t you dare use my gender against me-”

Putting both hands up and shaking a little, he made an ‘oh’ look with his mouth and mouthed “ooh,” wanting to ask her what she was going to do about it. Then he reminded himself of how many times she had all ready hit him, and he dropped his hands.

“-I want to try things, new things I just can’t think of anything other than you hanging upside down on the broom and me standing straight up on mine… Okay mine is really dumb. What do you want to try?”

He tried to think of how that trick would work, and if one of them moved wrong the other could either slide off or topple off. Rubbing his hand against his jaw, he tried to think of how they could improve it so it wasn’t so risky. She brought him back as he realized she’d asked a question. Blinking, he refocused on her and grinned, shrugging. “Let’s get a couple of brooms out.” A few minutes later, he had a couple on the grass. Grabbing one, he helped Arielle onto it before swinging his legs over the front of it, facing her.

Holding the broom shaft with one hand, he balanced himself slightly before nodding at her. “I’m not really sure what we can do with this, but…” Calling the other broom up to his hand, he held it and grinned. “Maybe we can swing from one to the other.” He really didn’t mind what they did.

"You knew what I meant!" She protested thinking how Gabby was going to harm her when she heard when Arielle had uttered.  That was fine though, if George wanted to say something to Gabs she would just make sure that people found his knickers hanging from the tower or something equally painful. A Snark never went out without a fight, and Arielle was every bit a Snark as the next one.

That's when she snapped, "BONY?! Are you kidding me?" She jabbed at him a few more times and rolled her eyes. Merlin did he ever frustrate her. Maybe it was a boy thing, but it didn't mean she had to like it right?

"I could" Arielle replied brows furrowing. If she wanted to she could. Alright she would make the attempt to knock him on his arse, but that didn't mean she would get very far. At least she would make good on her word by trying. That was better than just backing down in her book.

George was always convinced that once her family finally left the school she would have a freeing feeling of being able to live her life for her for once. He also seemed to think boys would notice her more, she was just hoping to be the Snark that people were whispering about for once instead of hearing girls giggle about her uncle and cousin making her stomach sick. They weren't good enough for them, and Arielle threatened a lot of the girls who tried to get to know them through her. Over her dead body.

"None of your bloody business if he is older or younger. Who I fancy is my own personal business and lets just say it's very personal," Arielle had enough chit chat about her and her love life. This mystery was not for him to solve and she wouldn't be giving up the ghost anytime soon. 'Nice try Georgie', she thought to herself before pursing her lips in aggravation.

"You haven’t grown into child size yet, how long do you expect it’ll take to finally get to fourteen?”

Gritting her teeth, Arielle tried to play nice. If she didn't haul off and kick him in the shin right there it was because she was happy to drag him out with her for once. He had been rather stuffy lately keeping himself locked in the tower like some pathetic damsel in distress. She half contemplated telling him to let down his hair so she might save the half wit from drowning in parchments.

Brushing past it she decided to drop that line and go with the course of action they had been planning on. Arielle, being light, had been easy to lift onto the same broom as him. Her thin frame and smaller features made her ideal for broom tricks. "So hope from broom to broom, In a swinging fashion?" Arielle kicked off the ground with George sitting before her. Keeping balance for them both had been second nature, "Suppose we will have to stay semi close to the ground in case the broom drops if no one is riding it..." Arielle wasn't thinking too much about the danger as she was thinking about the logic in it working. Arielle looked at him quizzically and curious to what his next move would be.

“You knew what I meant!”

Aw, Arielle was regretting what she said now. Grinning, he shrugged and played innocent. “Did I? Did I really? Because I thought it came out pretty obvious, Miss Snark.” Both young girls were firecrackers, that was for sure. As long as they weren’t both mad at him, it would all be fine. Besides... they were best friends and girls; they could figure out the drama and be buddy buddy again after their little disagreement. Girls had disagreements over the silliest things.

“BONY?! Are you kidding me?”

Laughing and groaning at each jab, he put a hand up and tried to bend away from her. He wasn’t kidding her, but Merlin knew he was going to keep his thoughts to himself, lest he get attacked by her prodding finger once more. Once he was assured that she was done attacking him, he stood normal and smiled. She seemed a little irritated... and when she said she could, he believed her. A bit too determined, now. What had he said? George figured she knew he was just teasing her like normal.

“None of your bloody business if he is older or younger. Who I fancy is my own personal business and lets just say it’s very personal.”

He let out a grunt and frowned a little. He huffed out under his breath, “Girls,” but merely shrugged and put his hands up. “Sure thing, Snark. Keep your personal business personal, consider it left untouched or questioned. Just trying to seem interested.” There, if that didn’t further entice her anger, he would probably figure out soon enough what would. Maybe it was just that time of the month? He wished that girls would wear a sign or something that let others know when to stay away based on mood.

“So hope from broom to broom, In a swinging fashion? Suppose we will have to stay semi close to the ground in case the broom drops if no one is riding it...”

Nodding at her question, he grinned. It could be helpful in a game, if the trick could be perfected. It would confuse the other team, at least, if they switched brooms with the ball. It would have to be pretty thought out, however, and less play and more strategic in the planning. For now, he was content with just having fun. “It could be bad news if you went to swing for the broom and it wasn’t there... so staying close to the ground isn’t a big deal.” George had enough scrapes and scars from accidents on the broom (or off the broom, since he usually got them while falling or somehow getting dislodged from the stick that kept him in the air).

With one hand holding the broom between them, the other holding the other broom, George balanced himself out as she rose into the air. Once they were high enough, he made sure she was holding on to her broom before holding the other out. Maybe a drop to stabilize the broom, if used in actual play, would be a good thing. It would allow a quick dive... Nevertheless, they were where they were, and a quick dive would send him right into the ground. The downside to playing around was with the lack of pads.

Staring at the broom, he nodded to himself. Slowly he rose to the broom, one knee against it, his foot now balancing on it as well. Balancing himself once again, he stood up on both feet, moving his arms to keep his balance. The issue here was Arielle holding herself stable while he jumped. Bending down, he pushed off quickly and launched into the air, attempting to grab the broom he had previously held out and attempted to keep in the air. He was able to grab on with his hands, swinging back and forth in the air.

Glancing back over his shoulder at her, he raised an eyebrow, smirking. “And that... was a lot of trouble...” Swinging himself a little more, he lifted a leg over the side, grunting as he hoisted himself up on it. Settling on his broom, he glanced to her again. “Here, your turn.”
