Remembering Day Arrives
by Niobe Thursby
27 April 2009

In less then a week, Wizarding folk all across Britain and Ireland will be observing the 11th anniversary of the Battle of Hogwarts and the downfall of Lord Voldemort and his followers.  Reports from magical communities from all over the Isles are of celebrations planned for the 2nd of May in the last decade's tradition.

However, the Wizarding public must feel that the air of excitement over Remembering Day is significantly less than last year's stupendous and ominous tenth anniversary.   Not only is the murderer of Auror Benjamin Timmins and Wizengamot Elder Leon Monroe still at large, but Hogwarts School's doors have not been flung wide to the public as in years past.

"Hogwarts will not be open to the public this year," stated a representative of the School Governors, "In full cooperation with the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, security will remain high.  However a limited number of tours will run on the 2nd of May to special guests and VIPs.  Hogwarts wishes everyone a very happy Remembering Day!"

The largest planned events this year will be at the Leaky Cauldron in Diagon Alley, and in the streets of Hogsmeade.  Fireworks, beer gardens, story tellings and memorial ceremonies should be expected all across the countryside.

The Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes has published this warning.
As usual, NO MAGIC is to be used in the presence of MUGGLES.
Large FIREWORKS displays shall be held only in REMOTE AREAS.
Do NOT attempt to OBLIVIATE on your own - report all breaches to the Ministry
Have a SAFE and PLEASANT Remembering Day.
