Dear Professor Bombay,

Sorry about using Professor even though you're not anymore. It just feels strange using anything else to address you since for 7 years that's what I always used. And I guess, regardless of your leaving, and regardless of how things seemed to end between us (with you taking my special project AND plot away), you'll always be Professor Bombay to me.

It's odd. As nice as the new Herbology professor is, it's still hard for me to walk into the greenhouses and not be surprised that you're not the one who is there. Even if you never greeted us as enthusiastically as she does. It's just hard to get used to change, I suppose, and it never occurred to me that you wouldn't be here until the end of my schooling.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that I kinda miss you being here, especially with the end of the year being so close. I find myself wondering how you are doing and I hope you're doing alright.

I hope this letter finds you well,
Grace Eddy

Miss Eddy,

Thank you.

I'm glad you like your new Herbology professor, even though she probably isn't teaching you anything worthwhile.  I'm very well.  I enjoy the additional time to spend tending to my own gardens, which are vastly superior on par with Hogwarts own greenhouses. I hope they are doing well and that the new professor hasn't killed everything.  Are the hybrids still growing? Are they being cared for properly?  If they look poorly, I can send your professor instructions.

How are your other classes?  You're taking Arithmancy, correct? I hope my colleagues are in good health.

Good luck with your exams,
Prof Bombay

Dear Bombay,

Just because I like the new professor, doesn't mean that I like her better than I liked you. I don't think anyone can replace you because you've been there from the beginning since I started Hogwarts.  It's just a little odd to not have you here for this last leg. I just thought you'd be here until the end.

And no, I am not in Arithmancy. I haven't taken that class since OWLS even though I passed with flying colors. I don't need it for becoming a healer so I stopped taking it. Of course, I don't exactly need Astronomy either but somehow I managed to get yanked along to that class still. Depending on how stressed I feel or if I think it's worth it, I may or may not sit the NEWTS for it.

But to answer your question, the professors all seem to be in good health, even when the first years are intent on giving them trouble. But don't worry; no one else has tried to burn down the green houses.

I was wondering if  you might be up for visitors at some point. Or rather, just me visiting. Obviously with school ending, I will have a lot of time to fill and it would be nice to get to talk to you, especially about Herbology matters.

Thank you for your well wishes; I hope to do you proud!

Regards,
Grace

Miss Eddy,

Thank you.  It's nice to knThough it's very kind of you, I'm sure sentiment is not shared by many others particularly among my colleagues.  I doubt any even seemed remotely troubled after my departure.  However, I am glad to hear the greenhouse still stands.  I can only imagine the terror the first-years of your house are wreaking upon the castle.  I hope your Head of House remains steadfast, despite their incorrigible ways.

It's good to keep your options open.  If you can, sit whichever NEWTS you feel capable of.  Despite Gryff your attitude our troubles, you're a very accomplished witch.  Don't slack off now. You're better than that.

As for a visit    I suppose you could come round for tea one afternoon.  There are a few specimens within my garden that you may be interested, and I suppose I could test any gaps in your knowledge that my replacement may not have addressed.

Regards,
Graham Bombay

Dear Professor Bombay,
Since exams are over on the 12th and the Hogwarts Express goes back to London the next day, I shall plan to visit you in Horsham before heading back to west to Cornwall to see my family. That is, if this is alright with you.

I am currently planning on taking 7 NEWTS. The bulk of my studies have been focused on the courses that I need to become a Healer, but at this juncture I am starting to wonder if I have done all there is to do to ensure my success. But we shall soon see.

I will owl you as soon as I finish my last exam (which happens to be the Herbology practical) to confirm my plans for a visit.

Fingers and toes crossed,
Grace

Miss Eddy,

I shall expect to see you then.  If I were you, I would not expect a meal of any sort.

Good luck with your NEWTS.  Pending any specialized pre-healer coursework suddenly instituted by a St. Mungo's--Hogwarts joint venture, I doubt you could be any more prepared for your path.  I only hope it is all that you desire.  Few things ever are.

I expect you'll be triumphant.

Til then,
Graham Bombay
