[May 15] Avoid Quidditch [OPEN] on August 06, 2011, 01:02:30 AM [Approximately near the end of quidditch match or just after it ends]All Effie could hear that morning was chatter about the upcoming quidditch game against Hufflepuff. She thought the entire thing was big waste of time, in her opinion. So many people wasting nervous breathe on something so pointless. The victor was of no consequence to Effie, she was not even interested in the final tally for the cup. The only cup offered at Hogwarts that was the least bit of interest to her, was the success of receiving the house cup. She was not exactly focused on that either, but there was a smidgen of house pride locked in Euphemia somewhere. Unfortunately the house pride did not peak its head out for things such as quidditch. At least there were lessons to keep herself busy, but the drone of the chatter continued in the halls. At least she could push past the people talking at length about the excitement of the game, rather than being surrounded as she had a breakfast. The only thing mildly interesting about the entire event was the whispers of why the match had been delayed. Honestly though Effie wasn’t even aware the match had been delayed, perhaps she might recall the mutter of annoyed tones, but then those were frequent in her presences. The afternoon could not come and go quick enough. She was hoping to ignore hearing the results of the quidditch game as best she could. Who cared who won? Her hope was she would be able to avoid people chatting about it at length, so her best bet was to avoid the Slytherin common room. She opted for a spot at the Entrance Courtyard. She was hoping to avoid people with enthusiastic quidditch interest. She wasn’t even sure if the game was done. Effie was looking for a spot to rest, at least until she deemed it safe to go indoors. Effie figured she would do some studying, if the weather permitted and of course if someone did not interrupt. She oddly felt that was not going to happen. But of course, things changed and she found herself leaving the team. Erin Dark filled her spot, and Evie had away with it. Her time was more spent sewing and creating, and more often away from the house of Slytherin. She’d been spending more time with friends from other houses, as well as making friends in other houses. Sophie had been the best help with that, and Evie was ever grateful. Most of the day had been spent inside, or wandering around the edges of the grounds on the opposite side from the quidditch pitch. Everyone in Slytherin had been talking about the match. Most everyone outside of Slytherin had been talking about it as well. Evie had even been focusing even more on her classes than usual. Granted she wasn’t normally that bad, but her schoolwork had definitely increased since stopping quidditch. Having brought her satchel with her, she’d been spending some time reading out on the grounds. But now she felt like heading somewhere else for different scenery. When Evie came back from the outside, she was coming up to the Entrance Courtyard, she was hoping the game was nearly over. Of course, if Slytherin won, it would be incredibly loud in the common room. The library might be a good place to go to if not the courtyard. But as she went through the courtyard, she noticed another Slytherin there already. It was a younger girl, and Evie recognized her as Euphemia Grissom-Dolohov, or otherwise known as Effie. Hopefully she wouldn’t mind if Evie were to converse.“Trying to stay away from quidditch as well? Seems rather difficult lately, doesn’t it?” Evie gave the girl a small smile as she approached her. “Luckily books are always good for distraction.” Skip to next post Re: [May 15] Avoid Quidditch [OPEN] Reply #2 on August 06, 2011, 05:03:46 PM Effie heard the approach and looked up to see a Slytherin girl, Pascal was her last name she was sure of it. Effie continued to think and quickly came to Evie Pascal. Yes, she was sure that was her name. Pascal was a pureblood name as well, if Effie’s attempt to keep track of them was correct, but then again she could not be sure of Evie’s situation and parents. She did not dwell on the thought process for long because now she was being spoken too and nothing looked worse than just staring at the person not answering them.“More than difficulty, nearly impossible.” Even in her avoidance someone had to bring up avoiding quidditch, which wasn’t really avoiding it was it. “I don’t think we will ever win this game of avoidance, considering no matter who wins the corridors will be filled with the chatter and the respective common rooms will be talking about it. It just depends whether it is moping or celebration. Honestly I almost desire moping for the Slytheirns, it is much quieter than celebration. She supposed that was probably not the best attitude for a Slytherin to possess when their house was playing. No Slytherin pride it seemed.“Yes, I thought I would read some. Since end of the year is fast approaching.” She could only imagine what it was going to be like for the fifth and seventh years with their standardized examinations at the end of the year. “What are you reading?” She inquired mainly to be polite. This will be a fun weekend to endure...” Evie thought about how if Slytherin won, they’d most likely shove it in everyone’s faces. But if they lost, most everyone else would be doing the same to Slytherin. Hopefully when they got back to classes, it would die down. It was nearing the end of the year and they had tests to take. But two days they would have to endure the celebrations of either team.“Studying a bit of History of Magic, and some Defense Against the Dark Arts. And then one of my clothing design books for fun. I need something to keep me awake when going through History.” That was the truth. There was just something about history that made Evie sleepy. “What about you? Anything interesting?”It was nice to run into someone of her own house who wasn’t quite interested in the match either. Despite the fact that Evie had been a fan of quidditch, and played, she quickly fell away from it. Times change and so do people. But she had also learned not to care what other people thought any more. Evie would do her sewing, attempt to make new friends, and often stay away from the Slytherin common room. And lately she had been taking more inspiration from the outdoors in her sewing, as she’d been out on the grounds more often. It was much more relaxing. Skip to next post
