[May 8th] These Five Words In My Head (Veronique)

Cillian nodded in appreciation to the barkeep as another sweating pint was placed in front of him. He had already downed three and had enough coins jingling in his pocket to keep him going all night. He had stopped in at the Leaky Cauldron after work to unwind, or so he kept telling himself. He wasn't a regular by any means. His regular haunt was actually the Three Broomsticks considering it was only a few feet away from his flat above the Inner Eye. He didn't want to admit why he had stopped here instead. He easily would have gotten a warmer welcome at the Three Broomsticks (Only because they knew him there) and it would have been much easier to stumble home when he had gotten too drunk but the proximity to his own place was actually why he had decided against it.

Cillian had spent his life being passed over and ignored by almost everyone he knew. He had always had friends but they were few and sometimes far between. As an adult he had plenty attention from women that liked the strong silent type, that found it endearing how small and shy he was but he had never gotten into any sort of serious relationship. Mostly because he didn't trust the women he had met as an adult. Most of them had known him through his shop, or the classes he used to teach and they all seemed to want something out of him. Where he had found seeing the future to be a terrible burden others had seen it as a means of getting great fortune or romantic pursuits. More than he liked to admit he had women hitting on him just to get a glimpse of what their future husbands might be like. It was pathetic really.

Then there was Penelope. The perfect catch from days at Hogwarts that was finally giving him the time of day. It was a whirlwind romance that had turned into a serious commitment before Cillian could blink. It seemed like only yesterday he had woken up to her in his bed and now they were living together and the perfect woman had turned into a perfect nightmare. Cillian supposed the real and true reason he was swallowing down a pint at the Leaky Cauldron instead of the Three Broomstick was because he just didn't want to go home to his gorgeous and completely smothering and controlling girlfriend.
