Physical Description:
Ananke is large and robust, with plenty of curves to spare, but is perfectly comfortable with her body, despite being larger than most people, and carries herself well and with complete confidence. She has strong jaw and dark blue oval eyes set in a long face, framed by long ginger locks. She also has a quirky and toothy smile with thin lips, and stands at an average height of 5’7”.
She usually wears more casual clothing, boots and long coats in a conservative dress or top that accentuate her bust and hips, but smoothes around her waist.
Personality Description:
Loud, cantankerous, and assertive, Ananke Cosmos hardly goes unnoticed in a room full of people, and refuses to be a doormat. However, despite her somewhat uncontrolled behavior, she understands and accepts who she is, and knows how to handle other people. This doesn’t make her manipulative, just worldly-wise, to the point she could predict what a person’s favorite breakfast is simply by listening to them talk about sports.
She has a great memory for detail in general, she's good at considering the ramifications of events, giving her a great intuition at social functions, however she does not care to apply it at a more personal level, and can come off as very objective or indifferent.
Despite having a rather laid-back personality, Ananke carries herself with respect and prides herself on organization and self-discipline, and she has a low tolerance for others who may lack it.
History:
Ananke Cosmos was born to a muggleborn mother and a halfblood father and was raised in a middle class lifestyle, with a mellow and dull enough lifestyle to foster her curiosity in the simple things: she loved the weather, nature, and being socially involved with the people around her.
At a young age she showed an aptitude for manipulating the adults around her through a series of little details and games that took her parents a while to catch onto, and by the time they did, she had discovered new methods to get her way; it was the typical mentality of a child, but Ananke seemed to be quicker about it than other children her age. She did this mostly for fun, rather than to get her way, and the skill gradually faded, with maturity, into her simply finding someplace she fit and, and finding friends and classmates she got along with, leading to a rather simple life up until she attended Hogwarts.
Once she began studying the magical subjects, Ananke had shown a natural aptitude for Herbology, Divination, and History of Magic, but worked hard at applying herself to other subjects, as well, and her interest in people and the world around her grew as she thought that magic had a curious effect on others and how they acted, directly and indirectly. She even found the first Wizarding War interesting, for that same purpose, but due to home-schooling and schisms of blood purity beliefs, she found herself alienated from the wizarding world, and more interested in doing her own thing. Once she returned to school, Astronomy wasn’t a course she had chosen to study at Hogwarts, but took tutoring during the summer and was able to sit through that NEWT as well as many others. But, due to still feeling a sense of tension in the wizarding world of Europe, focused her post-Hogwarts life on traveling and understanding the world, as a whole.
During her travels, she was mentored by a infamous elder wizard who was skilled with natal divination, and birthcharts, but also was well-verse with mundane aspects of divination, from time he spent with centaurs. However, when he saw how Ananke chose to apply her skill in the field, and how her interest wandered beyond that of divination, he realized that she needed to learn more about Mundane Divination and needed another type of tutor. They eventually traveled with a wizard who studied the earth and meteorology, and the elder wizard believed her to have a much more balanced education.
As her travels progressed, worked on the road as a magi-meteorologist for her own joy and for scholarly purposes, and got by with the support of her mentor. For twenty or so years, she managed to travel, research, and find work, but when the Second Wizarding War came about, her mentor died during one of his stays in the UK, and she had to hide her family and took her parents with her on her travels.
After the war ended, she suddenly came into possession of her mentor’s network of people and creatures, with a strong interest in divination, who felt the need to seek her out and contact her for similar reasons they contacted her mentor for: debates, discussions, help, etc. As strange as she found it to be, however, she found the correspondences refreshing and she grew accustomed to them.
However, as a few more years went by, she didn’t have the monetary support she use to have while traveling on the road, and needed a much more steady income. After asking around, and searching, she was encouraged and advised to take up the Divination position at Hogwarts, due to her natural skills and ability at Divination. But Ananke was wary; the only children she ever dealt with were in a purely social setting and not that of a classroom, but others seemed confident enough in her field to let her take up the position, so she took the position with pride and respect. If anything she thought she would have more time for her own studies, while still being able to handle a school curriculum of divination.
Describe your job duties and how you go about them:
There are two types of Divination, Mundane Divination, and the more personal Natal Divination; Firenze, the centaur, taught the former, and Trelawney taught the latter. Firenze's style, Mundane Divination, focuses on the more worldly application of divination such as politics, history, groups of people, etc, while Trelawney's style focuses more on a single person, being, or instance.
Focuses on both mundane and personal divination; she is biased towards the former style, however, because she believes students should require a balance of both practices, but believes that a mundane approach might be better-suited for a majority of students. This is because she believes students should take away skills they can apply to other classes or to their own lifestyle, but it also makes her class more difficult and critical than her predecessors who may have focused on more personal divination.
Elaborate on your expertise in your field:
Ananke has gone through interdisciplinary studies, stemming off from her studies in Divination, that made her accomplished in earth studies and meteorolog , which help her understand the world and the people who live in it. She has used these skills to study the weather and oceans to predict an upcoming meteorological event or crisis, how it could affect people and populations (including muggles,) and then propose the most beneficial reaction to it. Her skills are most often used for wizards but there have been a few instances where a group would manage to get her assistance, but due to the secrecy laws, it’s always been a very limited assistance. She is currently devoting herself to mastering the study of the earth through the profession, so she may add it to her current repertoire of knowledge to better understand the world.

She puts her research first, but takes her job seriously and dutifully carries it out to the best of her abilities. She can understand and analyze people with relative ease and has a natural knack for prediction based on observation leading her to a skillful use of guesswork. She knows her research and study relates mostly to Divination, but she is so relaxed about her work she doesn’t feel official enough to take on the title of “Diviner.
