Wand: Tom possesses a 12 inch Wand made of Canary wood with the core of a phoenix feather. It is springy with a spiral shaft and the handle carved delicately in the shape of a bear upper body.

Physical Description: Tom is about 5'9, with broad shoulders and a playful grin always on his face. He is a solid man, and though he doesn't work out as much as he should he is not weak by any means of the word.  He has dark blue eyes and when he lets the hair on his head grow longer then a stubble it's dark brown.

Personality Description: Tom is an adventurer through and through, driven by his inquisitive nature and his need to learn everything he can. He is most happy making a new discovery or setting eyes on a new land. he likes to joke and make other people laugh as much as he does. He is one to make a small number of close friends, and is fiercely loyal to them.

His sarcasm and bluntness can get him in trouble from time to time. He doesn't like blatant ignorance or someone looking down at him. If given attitude he can give it right back and when annoyed he will most likely verbalize it.

History: Thomas’s parents married on a whim, his mother, Janet, a muggle lawyer from America and his father, Frank, a Dragon keeper from Ireland. They divorced only a year after his birth citing incompatibility. Tom spent his early life bouncing back and forth between the two continents, always looking forward to the summers and school breaks with his dad wandering Europe. He always resented his mom for making him go to school in the states despite his dual citizenship.

Tom has known about his magical talents since very young, neither parents choosing to hide it. He experimented with it as much as he could get away with, and when in muggle schools it got him into a bit of trouble on a few occasions. His mother was never thrilled about the whole thing, and used the instances where he got in trouble at school to enforce a zero magic policy. He wouldn’t even allow him to read any fantasy novels or movies.

On his eleventh birthday his father came to him, something he had never done citing his hatred for the states, and gave him his acceptance letter to Hogwarts. His dad gave him the option to go; though his mother was not happy about it she was reminded of an agreement at the time of their divorce and was forced into letting Tom go with extreme hesitation. So he left for the magical school and never looked back.

His time at Hogwarts was a pure joy, relishing in everything magic and given a chance to excel in ways he never did before. While his dad encouraged him to follow in his footsteps and peruse Care of Magical Creatures he is more interested in studying both the history of the magical world and of all things charms. He is enamored with the idea of making enchanted items of great power like the Philosopher’s stone and the sword of Gryffindor.

At the end of his seventh year he scored the highest in Charms and History followed by potions, defense against the arts and Care of Magical Creatures. His abysmal scores in Divination and Herbology seem to reinforce his feelings of just how useless those subjects were. Upon graduation he joined his father for a year on a world wind tour of the rest of the world, diving into every magical corner they could find together. It was this trip that showed him he had much to learn, and when his father prepared to return to work Tom chose to remain out traveling, learning from anyone and anything he could.

It was in Italy that he met the amazing Artificer Jeremiah Fredricks. For the next five years he learned everything he could from the man, becoming his official apprentice. It took the older man’s death for Tom to stop learning from him, and even then he continues. He chose this time as the best to return home, his former masters notes and journals tucked away safely.

It is then, at twenty five years old, that he returns to London bent on continuing his perfection of the art of artificer and learning every secret of the wizarding world. He opens a small shop in Diagon alley to sell trinkets and deals in magical rarities and oddities while in the back room he studies and experiments. When he is not in his shop, he is out searching for the next ground shattering artifact from Magics past.

Describe your job duties and how you go about them: Tom runs a shop, Magicarium Apothicarium in Diagon alley, selling rare items he has found or traded for and in his spare time perfecting his own craft and learning as much as possible of those rare treasures scattered around the globe.

Elaborate on your expertise in your field: His inquisitive nature is his largest tool, followed by the five years spent under one of the modern ages greatest Artificer's and learning the art of exploration from his father himself.

Writing Sample: Tom looked up at the balcony above his head, annoyed as yet another glass goblet came crashing to the ground making him jump to the side to avoid getting hit in the head.

“Damn it Autumn, stop breaking those. I can only repair them so many times before they crumble into sand.”

As if mocking him his black and white cat shoved another glass arranged on the railing. Her tufts of gold scattered along her back shimmered in the candle light as her yellow eyes met his for a moment, then mockingly lifted her nose to the air and stepped up to the next, paw at the ready. He had to give her credit; she was always smarter than one would think. She had been his companion since embarking for Hogwarts so many years ago. While she should be old and slow in age she showed no signs of it, her impish face with the same glint of trouble they had held in that old castle.

“Listen, I know you’re mad at me, and I’m sorry. I really am. It’s just you can’t keep eating the mice that come out of that box. I have no clue where they are coming from or what kind of magic they are being conjured from and I just don’t want you getting sick. You understand don’t you?”

She paused a moment, seeming to be reflecting on his words. Yesterday a simple brown box had come his way with the odd ability that when opened a small white mouse would climb from within and scurry off to places unseen. Autumn, or Auttie as he called her at times, had been very intrigues by this and quickly learned how to open the box to summon a mouse, scoop one up in her mouth and hurriedly summon a second to pin as she finished the first. He had put the box in a locked cabinet when he discovered her in the middle of a midnight snack, unsure of just how much she had had. She had been bitter with him since, refusing to come to bed.

“That’s a good girl, you understand. Now come down here and let me feed you a proper treat. How about a bit of Blood sausage? You love yourself some sausage.”

She jumped from the railing, her feet pitter pattering quickly down the short stairs and propelling her to jump on the counter, a habit he had been trying to break her of to no avail. He cut a piece of the meat, his breakfast he had only been able to get half way through before the rain of glass has begun, and slid it to her. She happily ate it up, licking her face clean making sure she got every bit of it. it was only then she let him pat her, a loud vibrating purr emanating from her throat showing her gratitude he finally broke to her will.

“Sometimes I wonder who is master and who is beast you know.”
