CHALLENGE: Sh!t Happens!

on July 24, 2011, 01:22:47 PM

Sh!t Happens!
Submit a current or new thread and receive a twist from the Deus Ex Machina.
How will you respond?

The world is a crazy place and things don't always go as planned.  Deus Ex Machina delivers on that promise in threads all over AO.  Throw caution to the wind and let some chaos into your life.

Reply with a link to a thread and invite in a little craziness!

*This is meant to be fun.  If an intrusion really isn't welcome, just let a Curator know and no big deal!

This is an Absit Omen role-playing challenge! From time to time, we'll call upon you movers and shakers to direct your substantial imaginations towards some type of in-character challenge.  Take the prompting and incorporate it into plots or threads new or old.  Then, when you've accomplished this lofty task, respond to this thread with the fruits of your labors! A link, a quote, and a few words on how it went.  Naturally optional, no prizes - just grit and glory!

Unless anyone objects, I'd be up for something happening in the Ravenclaw party thread at some point.  There's a good sized group of people gathered so it could be fun to have something unexpected.  So, I'll toss that out as a potential unless, again, if anyone in that thread objects (don't hesitate to let me know if that's the case).

Nuri's all for something unexpected during Sissel and Vivienne's first date (I'm posting for her since she'll be busy tomorrow). Kinda asking for it when the title is "First Dates and Other Disasters."

I sent the DeM account a PM with a request for intervention in this thread; sorry! I first viewed this with an account not yet accepted and therefore thought I couldn't reply here. >_>

Trouble brews!

There must have been something out of whack about that coffee Mr Trishna prepared from himself, because just as Trishna stood from his chair his vision tunneled away rapidly, as if someone else had shut his blinds.

He might remark at how painless it was, how completely lacking in sensation the sudden loss of vision was.  But in the seconds that followed the simple lack of vision was followed with a shrill ringing in his ears that was significantly less hard to ignore!

If Sissel Jowd wanted excitement, that's precisely what he and his new lover would find this evening.

A clattering of dishes, the crash of three glasses breaking and a loud crack interrupted all the diners at Carluccio's.  People slid back their chairs to look around and murmuring filled the restaurant.

"Is there a doctor in the house?!" the voice nearly shrieked through the ruckus - it was the voice of the petittle woman who'd greeted them at the door.  She was crouched over a huddled form and it seemed Carluccio's had just added a sanguine new tint to its decor...

The cake, quite simply, exploded.

While both Aurors - masters of deduction, trained killing machines, highly coordinated magical operatives - puzzled like chimpanzees over a shiny new spoon, the screen suddenly flashed away from the text message.  The phone buzzed and bounced as before, but this time the ring was a jaunty pop tune.  A tinny version of Lady Gaga's 'Just Dance' chirpped with miniscule bass beats as the screen now flashed a new message:

Incoming call
from
PRIVATE NUMBER

Ed's thumb, in his jumble, found the enigmatically labeled 'Send' button and soon a voice was heard in the flat.

"Who's this!.... I know you're there! I can hear you breathing!  ... Coward! ... You carry on textin' my daughter and I'll shove this phone so far up your...!"

And so on.
