Brett wasn't used to showing up and people leaving. "Wow- looks like I ruined the party, don't it?" she laughed. "Usually the part won't start 'til I show up!" But she wasn't too worried. There was a lot going on that day, and her presence could be a little... intense at times anyway. Besides, she knew if anyone was the party pooper it was definitely Dion.

"We better see Grace after we graduate, no matter what she decides to do," Brett said- peering at the other Gryffindor. "Friends don't just drop off the face of the planet after you graduate. Not all the time, anyway." But the talk was soon changed back to school- and naturally Dion was worried about whether or not the expectations had changed on him as far as his classes were concerned.

"I bet I'll get all O's on my NEWTs," Brett announced with confidence. "Been doing a lot of studying and I'm good with a wand. And I already know I can kick Dax's ass- so I can kick Dion's by proxy. And much as I love Fauna, she wouldn't know how to go about kicking one!" The Gryffindor shot her Hufflepuff friend a bright smile. "It'll be right fun teaching her how to fight and duel. Guess she's got those different strengths you need, then. Like a level head and not firing off at the mouth and the wand every time someone says a cross word. She's kept me from gettin' into lots of fights I'd probably have lost... or gotten expelled for. Bet they'd have broken my wand in half by now if it weren't for Fauna."

Despite himself, Jonas couldn't help but laugh.  The girl's enthusiasm was contagious.  It was nice to see someone, however crude her manners, who was obviously so excited about joining the Corps.  Despite the tension with Eddie, he could feel himself relaxing slightly.  If these soon-to-be graduates really went through with their intentions and became trainees, it was going to be a nice jolt of energy to the department.

"Well, have to hope that you make it through another couple of months before anyone gets around to snapping it then, yeah?" he asked cheerfully, glancing at his watch without thinking.  As predicted, it didn't work at Hogwarts.  Jonas sighed, glancing around the lunch room in search of another clock.  Most of the other tables seemed to be emptying out, students and visitors alike bussing their plates so that they could return to the Career Fair.

"Looks like you lot ought to head on to the demonstration," he urged them, setting his silverware down on his plate.  "And I ought to get back to the booth.  Nice meeting you all, though," he added cheerfully, as he rose to stand.  "And we'll see you all in just a few short months then, won't we?"

End.
