[April 27] Phase #1: Great Hall [Arielle & Gavin Snark] on March 11, 2009, 05:17:56 PM Classes were almost over. Brennan, about to be in his seventh year, really needed to bare down on the books. However, he had everything else but books on his brain. The day before he had had a perfect broom ride with Waker Nolan, a very pretty Ravenclaw girl. Now, he was focusing on something else: quidditch and food. Even though he would like to say he wanted to study, he could say he wanted to eat more, so he chose the latter of the two.Sitting at the Gryffindor table, it was lunch time, and the elves below had done quite a number on the meals provided. Brennan was wearing light clothes, like the day before, form-fitting orange tee shirt, khaki shorts, and sneakers. It was the one thing he loved about the weekend - no uniform. Finally, more food appeared before him and he grabbed as much as possible. Not many people were eating lunch that day, probably studying their arses off in their rooms or the library. He knew Waker would be, and could see by the fact that she was noticeably absent from the Ravenclaw table. Looking around, he saw that he was one of the few who were still enjoying their free meals. Deciding to take the eating slower, he wanted to see if someone would join him. Arielle had much the same plan. Her goal for the afternoon was to seek out a snack, find Gabbie and avoid studying for the rest of the afternoon. Perhaps get up on a broom and fly about. Whatever she can do to drag on the daylight and avoid her responsibility as a quality student was fine with her. Slouching about, Arielle wore an outfit suited to her style. It was something her aunt would despise. Red and black, a favored combo of hers. Decked out in a pair of jeans, red shoes, red earrings, and a hooded sweater. Arielle wandered into the Great Hall. She had hoped to grab a sandwich and be off when she noticed someone sitting at the house table. Making her way towards Brennan she grinned. "Oi, what are you up to? Other than stuffing your face...." That was something she planned on doing. The rumble in her stomach told Arielle she put it off long enough. "Mind if I join you?" Not waiting for an okay she took a seat across from him and the plate in front of her formed with food. She filled her glass and proceeded to pick at the food before her. "They still put a lot of effort in the meals don't they?" Even though no one was about the sandwiches were plentiful and still tasty. Whether that growing meant in height or width, food was a source of many different needs for boys, mostly including boredom. But some people, like Brennan, loved food for taste and protein and helping build muscle. Many wouldn't see that from him, that it helps him with his exercising, by the way he ate. He tended to just chow down on his food, like any typical boy."Oi, what are you up to? Other than stuffing your face...."Looking up, Brennan saw a fellow Gryffindor and teammate, Arielle Snark. "I'm very proud of my ability to stuff things into my mouth at alarming rates." He paused and shrugged his head. A few stares were thrown his way from those that heard him, while some girls snickered down the table. "Anyways... I'm just eating, as you've pointed out. Otherwise, my brain is pretty numb."He patted the seat next to him, but saw she was already in front of him. Arielle wasn't his best of friends, but she wasn't the worst. He commended the fact that out of all the Snarks, she was chosen to be in Gryffindor. Brennan absolutely loathed her cousin, Alexander, but even worse than him, he couldn't stand and was practically on arch-enemy status with her uncle, Gavin. Granted, both her relatives were exceptionally attractive men, but absolute prats.Taking a small break from his food, he looked up at his eating companion. "So, what are you up to today? I'd figure someone like you would be studying your arse off in the dormitories." Since Arielle was constantly out with her friends, she rarely found herself eating too much or spending an over abundant amount of time in the Great Hall. It just wasn't her style she much preferred grab and go. Which was why it was bizarre for her to sit down, especially on the weekend, for a meal. Her family was what kept her afloat. Though she knew some people didn't care about her or which way was up, but her family did. In fact her cousin and her uncle were extremely protective of her. Not only that, they were the ones she grew up with. They were more than just titles, they were like her older brothers. So when women hit on them, or men didn't care for them she was fiercely loyal to her them and tended to follow her family through the gates of hell. Drinking a healthy swig of pumpkin juice when he mentioned what else he could stuff his mouth with caused the juice to almost come out her nose. Grabbing a napkin Arielle started to chuckle. "So you are a man of many talents it seems. On the field and off," Arielle tried her hardest not to burst out with laughter before taking a nibble on a slice of sandwich. "Me? Study? You obviously have no idea who I am. I don't apply myself," much to the displeasure of her Aunt Ana. But that was not the topic. "Just grabbing a quick bite before I avoid studying. I have every intention on grabbing Gabie by the hand and dragging her down to the lake for a bit. Or maybe lounging about the Pitch. But books and studying not on the schedule for the day." Looking at her, his eyes curved into a sly slope and his lips curled into a smirk. "Trust me. There are many things people don't know about me... or my talents." He winked at the younger girl, and then laughed. Watching her as she spoke of her normal, daily routine, Brennan started stuffing his face again, this time with pumpkin pasties and downing that with pumpkin juice. Not really his flavor, but something the house elves did to them made them way better than any dessert he'd ever had before. Hogwarts was, afterall, more of a home to him than his own house, and the meals were half the reason.Getting back to the conversation, Brennan took a bite of a sandwich, and then chimed in. "Well, we all know I'm not the master of the study. But I do, however, like to keep my grades acceptable, at least. I hope this non-studying isn't affecting your ability to keep your grades up." He blinked, wondering why he just gave her a lesson on studying. "Nevermind. Ignore that." He laughed. She was babbling on about something that Gavin had no interest. He much rather watch his niece, and that little boy flirting it up right in front of Gavin's face. Did the both of them no know that Gavin was eying them from the Slytherin table? Gavin decided to lay low and watch the two of them from the corner of his eye, it was easy enough to do so. Not a lot of people were in the great hall -- they were studying. With the grades Gavin had, many had thought Gavin studied all the time. The compliment flattered Gavin, but it wasn't true. In fact Gavin never studied what he had to know. He just read what interested him. So today, like every other day, was a relaxing day. He couldn't deny the fact that he had to look up the dates for the History of Magic final, but that was about it. It would only take what, five minutes? Besides, he had better things to do… like watching his niece and Girard. "I'm very proud of my ability to stuff things into my mouth at alarming rates."Gavin's eyebrow raised, well was that so? He chuckled under his breath, and then suddenly stopped. The image that he received was disturbing and he quickly shoved it away. Well maybe Gavin shouldn't be so overprotective of Arielle with this guy around."Trust me. There are many things people don't know about me... or my talents."The line that Gavin was waiting for finally came out. He wouldn't stand for this any longer. He hated that Brennan character, not more than Gibson but pretty close, and if that boy was going to try to pull and fast one on Gavin's niece, then he had another thing coming. Girard knew that Arielle was off limits, to any boy in the universe. And if Alex and Gavin didn't make that clear, then it was time to do so.Rising from his seat, the girl next to him started to question his actions but Gavin ignored her, once again, and started to make way for the Gryffindor table. Many heads rose, because why would Gavin Snark walk to the Gryffindor table? Everyone knew that Gavin hated to associate with people who did not have the same interests as Gavin, but they also knew that his niece Arielle was Gryffindor and they seemed to understand fully when they saw Gavin's gaze locked on Arielle and Brennan. Walking up the Gryffindor row, Gavin suddenly stopped short and sat next to Arielle with one arm around her shoulders. "Whatcha two up to?" Gavin asked with a smirk. She knew their tendency to read into her interactions with people, no not people, boys. Any boys. There was little hope of her falling for anyone without them being hexed into oblivion in the process. Boys rarely dared bat an eye at her, and the only one who peeked any interest in her was Devlin. That was mostly because Dev was older and seemed to have his act together. Not in a way some might find suitable but his smooth smile and style caused her to go weak in the knees. He was of course out of the question, being best mates with her two older protectors. Brennan was just a boy on her Quidditch team. Not anyone special but she had no real qualms with him. They were teammates, and being from the same house made things easy to at least find some common ground. Arielle chuckled when he tried to tell her how to study for class. "My grades aren't terrible, I mean I know if I put some effort into them I could do much better but class isn't exactly something I feel like excelling in. I have other aspirations, not that my Aunt likes them...." No Ana was constantly trying to keep Arielle on the right track. It didn't work all that well but she had to give her credit for trying. Threatening to take away Quidditch had kept her above average at the very least. So if anything she was doing a smashing job keeping Arielle in school. Feeling the arm slide over her shoulders, Arielle's eyes grew huge as she froze in place. "Uhhh" was all she got out until she noticed her Uncle on her side like a bludger and a club. "Um 'ello" she said cocking a brow confused, "Just the usual... sandwiches and small talk nothing too outlandish. What about you?" Her mouth twisted with an inkling inside that something was up. He wasn't the studying type, and he did have aspirations that equalled to grades coming to maybe acceptable only. He wanted to be a professional quidditch player. But if that didn't work, he wanted to try his hand at being an auror. However, to be an auror, one muct have exceptional grades, and he was not one of those people. "Maybe I should study more. I mean, my first choice of career isn't exactly high quality grades, but my fall-back, well, I sort of need those Outstandings to outshine my Acceptables." He laughed quickly, for something stingy was approaching."Whatcha two up to?"It was true that Brennan hated Slytherins. Even truer that he hated their ring master, Gavin Snark. Sadly, though, he was related to Arielle, whom he considered a friend. So when Mister Snark decides to invade upon Arielle and his conversation, Brennan's hand, unbeknownst to the Snark relatives, shifts to his pocket and the handle of his wand. Brennan looked him over, giving a quick snarl, slow enough for Gavin to catch it, but fast enough for Arielle to not notice. "Just the usual... sandwiches and small talk nothing too outlandish. What about you?"Brennan didn't give him a chance to answer. "Snarlk. Shouldn't you be slithering two tables over? If I recall, only crimson and gold allowed to this table. I don't think your troops are too happy to see their ring master leaving the show." He shifted his weight, appropriating himself to get up. He was watching, waiting, gaging Gavin's reaction to his nasty comment. Didn't the boy know that it was Arielle's time to speak, than Gavin, THAN GIRARD? Rolling his eyes, Gavin laughed. Did anyone know that Gavin wasn't affect by words? He was the exact opposite, the more remarks that were thrown his way, the more amusing the fight became to him. Brennan than grabbed his wand, and Gavin did the same in a flash. "Snarlk. Shouldn't you be slithering two tables over? If I recall, only crimson and gold allowed to this table. I don't think your troops are too happy to see their ring master leaving the show.""Ahh about that, I give them a bit of breathing room. You know how it is, hn yeahh you don’t..." Gavin winked at Brennan. If this was the type of people Arielle was hanging around then Gavin was going to lock her in a closet and throw away the key. "It's not wise to try to pick a fight when a lady is eating, unless you plan to start a food fight Girard, I was simply coming over to have a little chat with the two of you. I feel depressed that no one wants to talk to me." Which was a total lie, Gavin had every attention to fight that Girard character. He was a joke and he knew that whoever talked to Arielle would have to go through Gavin and Alex. That was how things were. Challenging Gavin wasn't a smart idea. He was rather advanced in Dark Magic, and even if he was defeated Girard would have to go through Alex and Devlin. I have no idea what I will do if I don't get my first career choice. Maybe that's why my Aunt tells me repeatedly to put in the slightest bit of effort?" Arielle joked. It was definitely the reason but to admit her Aunt Analiza was right would only mean she thought there was slightest chance she wouldn't be a famous Quidditch player someday. Arielle refused to let that be the case. In her eyes it was a fate worse than death to not follow in her father's footsteps. Well in that way, other things he did were all his own. Hearing Girard mess up her last name made Arielle screw up her eyes a bit to look at him perplexed. "That's not how..." That was when she was cut off by the rest of the sentence. 'Oh bloody great', Was all she could think in her head. This was going to be a war of words, a stupid tiff over who's broom was bigger, if that was the case she was so out of there. If she was confused by her Uncle's presence it ended soon after the pair stuck their hands in their pockets. Which could only signal a small number of things, ruling out most of them Arielle fell on the reason most likely and rolled her eyes, "Are you ruddy serious," she muttered under her breathe. Taking another bite of sandwich she looked at the two boys and raised a brow. Maybe she missed the memo on male's showing off and having a pissing match. Either way she didn't feel like shoveling up the pieces and bringing them to the hospital wing after wards. Scooting over a bit she made sure to have Gavin release his grasp on her shoulder. "So much for lunch," she said with a deep sigh putting down her sandwich and turning her attention back onto the action at hand. Suddenly she wished Gabbie was there to make things at least a little less tense on her end. Skip to next post

Re: [April 27] Phase #1: Great Hall [Arielle & Gavin Snark] Reply #9 on March 15, 2009, 08:37:57 AM "Study more? For what reason...
