March 11, 2009 - Evening Edition

During daylight hours today, werewolves were reported to attack across Great Britain.  At least three attacks of this nature are confirmed - two in Diagon Ally and one in the forests surrounding Hogwarts School.  The Daily Prophet has very little information at this time but we can report that these creatures appear in all ways like werewolves.  There are no known instances of werewolves transforming during the day, so all bets are off as to what's going on. 

"It's not possible, frankly," told us Maya Irene-Strangely, werewolf expert, "but there's no other way to explain it."

The Werewolf Capture Unit is urging everyone to stay in their homes and fortify their domiciles with whatever protective enchantments you can muster.  Stay there throughout tonight's full moon, and be advised that until the WCU can learn more, even daytime excursions tomorrow are not recommended.

There are reports of death and serious injury, but at this time the Daily Prophet cannot reveal any details.
