[March 14th] Photographs & Pianos [Percy]

on March 01, 2011, 02:45:14 PM

Ivory had been hoping to teach Percy how to take photographs with a Muggle camera at the next Hogsmeade Weekend that came up. Regrettably that wasn't meant to be as when the security at the school had increased it meant that no more trips to the little village. It was sad for the little artist that Ivie was but even more sad as she was sure that she wouldn't get to really hang out with Percy given the difference in their years. Oh if only they could only be a year apart instead of two years. Alas she was sure that the lesson would never get off the ground when she remembered the room of requirement. That was the answer to the little monkey wrench life had thrown at Ivory.

Ivie gathered her camera, sketch pad and a few of her art supplies and headed out to where it was rumored the room of requirement was located. Standing in front of the wall where the door would hopefully appear, if she did this right. Holding her back to her side, Ivory stared at the bricks and with a clear voice, told the room what she was looking for. “I need an art studio with canvases, two easels, a table set up with professional grade paints and paintbrushes on one side. On the second half a studio for taking photographs with lights and tables for still life objects likes bowls of fruit and flowers in vases. Toward the back of the room I'd like a dark room for the development of both Muggle camera taken photographs and photographs from a wizard camera.” Ivory waited for a bit of time before a door suddenly appeared before her. Smiling she then added. “Only I can Percy Derish can see the door to this room” She would have to send a note to Percy so he would know to show up.

Opening the door, the third year stepped into the room and looked around. It was perfect it even had a divan and some pillows set up beside a table with snacks and drinks. Oh this was beyond perfect. She just hoped Percy would like the environment she had created for their first twin lesson. Setting her things on the floor, Ivory took out a piece of parchment and began to write down a note to Percy.

'Hi Percy, I know I promised to teach you about photograph and painting. Sadly with the new security at the school I can't do it at Hogsmeade. So I thought we could do it in the room of requirement. If you could come to the area it's in you should be able to see a door. If not knock on the stones and I'll make sure you can get in. Hope to see you soon....um you know for the lesson. Anyway see you soon. Ivory.'

Looking down at the note, she wondered if the 'Hope to see you soon' would seem to … well would he think she was some desperate female? Sighing she cast a drying spell on the ink, and then folded the paper up. Using another charm she spoke Percy's name to the paper and then sent it out the door to find Percy. Now all Ivie had to do was wait for the gentleman to show up. While she waited she sat down at the piano and began to play the only thing she knew how to play on the piano... Silent Night. And while it was the wrong season for it Ivory began to sing along as she played. Ivory didn't think she had a very good voice and yet when she sung songs like Silent Night she had a real talent.

It wasn't long before Percy received Ivory's own twist on an OWL.  He retrieved the floating letter and began to read it.  The bookworm Ravenclaw couldn't help but smile that the word "um" was contained in said note.  Nevertheless...Percy ventured through Hogwart's to locate the elusive Room of Requirement.  When he reached the area...he saw a door that looked peculiar...as if he didn't recall having seen it before.  It seemed to stand out from the other doors, even though he had by no means entered all of the myriad rooms within the massive castle.  Could this be it?

Percy cautiously approached the door...and twisted the doorknob in a hesitant fashion.  Percy heard something from within and peered inside warily...A loud voice screamed "MOVE!" just as a volley of flaming arrows struck the wall beside him.  Apparently some very advanced wizards were misdirecting these fiery objects of death...which made him rather vulnerable.  Percy shrieked and quickly dove back outside and into the hallway, covering his head while closing his eyes.  The door swung back to a resilient slam, which caused Dervish to jump with a startle.  After this...he carefully peeked one eye open...and noticed another door he hadn't noticed before.  This one had a peculiar stone knocker on it and Percy hesitantly reached up and grasped the stone...before clacking it against the backing attached to the door.  However...with no attempt to open the door, it creaked open.  Percy braced himself...and eased inside ever so slowly...only to find an entirely different scene altogether!  And there was Ivory!

"Ivie!"

Perhaps the near fatal experience had caused his emotions to be stirred a bit higher than usual, but it certainly was a relief to see her as opposed to burning instruments of execution.  Percy allowed his brown eyes to wander around the ever changing Room of Requirement.  It was breathtaking.

"Wow...Did you do all this?"

Percy eventually wound up walking toward Ivory at the piano, before examining the beautiful instrument itself.

Ivory jumped at the sound of Percy's voice. Turnig on the bench of the piano, the 3rd year Ravenclaw looked at her housemate, a bit of concern for the way his voice had hiked up in it's normal pitch. Was he going through puberty? Surely he had already gone through it she puzzled given his age. Maybe he was a late bloomer.

Gently pushing the bench back, wincing a bit at the scrapping sound of wood on wood flooring, Ivory smiled at Percy's question about the room. Nodding she held her hands in front of her as a smile spread across her face. “Yes, I thought it might be nice to have an room that could help cover the lessons we wish to offer each other. I also wrote down what I asked for so any time we have more lessons either you or I can recreate the room. Do... Do you like it?” Her cheeks were dusted a faint rosy red as she was a bit shy about the work well the request she had put in to the room.

“If there is something I got wrong I'm sure you can fix it. Is the piano okay? I didn't know what kind you normally use so I requested a baby grand.” She turned to the instrument and ran her hand over the smooth shiny black wood the piano had been crafted out of. It was clear from how she was adverting her eyes from Percy's and the chewing upon her lip that Ivie was nervous about Percy's liking or disliking her efforts for their lessons together.

Perhaps Ivory was not accustomed to Percy after nearly being arrowed to death.  Such things had a way of making anyone appear more nervous than they actually were and Percy was rather...nervous without such additives involved.  Percy looked from Ivory's smiling response to allow his eyes to wander the room yet again.  He smiled and nodded enthusiastically.

"It's brilliant!"

Percy shook his head and waved both hands with a negative response.

"No no!  By all means, this is perfect.  All of it is really."

Percy smiled and made a move to lower down to the piano bench to sit with her, though he did leave a tiny space between them.  Even that closeness made heat rise up his collar as he slid his fingers along some of the ivory keys before him.

"And perfectly tuned too!"
