[March 1st] New In Town (Declan, then open to professors)

It was dark by the time Arsinoe arrived. Approaching the castle had sent a wave of déjŕ vu washing over her. It was surreal, being back here after all these years. Like it was her first year all over again. She wasn't much taller now than she had been at eleven, so it still held the same great, looming quality as it always had.

Why was she here?

No, seriously. What the hell was she doing? Why had she felt like this was a good idea? She had been doing well for herself in London, she'd been comfortable. Yes, things had become a little awkward at work since the break up, but she was sure that would have passed, eventually. Aside from helping train new unspeakables, Arsinoe never taught anyone before. What if she was bad at it? And she didn't have a lot of experience with children (at least, not ones who weren't related to her). Children were loud and opinionated and generally unruly. She was completely out of her comfort zone, and it was terrifying.

But she knew, from a logical standpoint, that this was for the best. It was a good career move, and a good step forward. It was offering her the change of scenery she'd desperately needed over the past few months. And, regardless, it was most certainly too late to change her mind now. This thought in mind, she squared her shoulders and tightly gripped the handle of her roll-along trunk. She pulled it along behind her as she made her way to the staff room, where she was scheduled to meet with the Deputy Head Master. Poking her head into the room, she looked around. "Hello?"

Declan tugged at his vest and ran his fingers through his hair as he waited on the new professor to arrive. Another new professor- nothing new about that this year. Hopefully the new staff would stick around, cycling through professors was hardly beneficial to the students. Declan just hoped this new woman would not be like the others. He could not handle another Tapendra Trishna.

But when he saw her peek into the staff room, she appeared very much the proper witch. Declan stood from his seat as she pulled her luggage in behind her, inspecting the woman closely. Her clothing was fitting, and as horrible as it sounded, she was petite- which Declan appreciated. It was bad enough most of the students were taller than he was, it would be nice to have another person on staff equally (or more so) dwarfed than he was. "Good evening, Miss Hallett," he greeted. She looked vaguely familiar, and Declan wondered if she had been at Hogwarts the same time as him.

"I see you've found your way. Welcome to Hogwarts! I apologize that the headmistress is not here to welcome you- she is away on business. I am Declan O Morain- deputy headmaster and professor of care of magical creatures. Did you have any trouble getting past the DMLE stationed outside?"
