Graham,

I hope this letter finds your new year going well. I know that mine has been fabulous--if only I had an endless supply of parchment to detail it all.

I won't. But I am sure you had the pleasure of seeing Aileen's face on Valentine's Day when she received that special delivery of flowers, compliments of my secretary. Since I could not be a fly on the wall for the occasion, I eagerly await your account of how delightful it must have been to watch.

In other matters, I wanted to remind you about our discussion from your mother's holiday dinner. I have those files that we spoke about and I wanted to know if you still wished me to send them your way. I trust that they will be of more use to you now than they were to me, seeing as you are content to deal with this burden and accept it into your life.

Regards,
Oz

Oscar,

Unfortunately, I was unable to attend the daily embarrassment of Aileen in the Great Hall, but I can easily imagine her toad-like face growing even more disgusting.  Bravo for sticking it to the old witch yet again.

Please send the files.  Things are...progressing, and I'd like to have a handle on the matter before it gets to that point.  I'd like to use Mother's ring, and you know she wouldn't give it up for anything less than pure. I'll be able to return the birth records after she sees them.

Thank you again for clearing this undesirable obstacle.  I hope to see you again once my future happiness is secured.

Thanks,
Graham

Graham,

Here are the files. Please let me know if there is anything else that I may do.

Your Friend,
Oscar

Along with the short letter, there is a bundle of papers written in Oz's own neat penmanship. A lot of it is lists but there is some dull narrative at times. There's nothing really negative about what is here, as it's mostly research notes and a compilation of information from various sources, but the beauty of it is in the eye of the beholder.

An excerpt includes:

Myrni's mother and aunt are the product of two notable (in some circles considered pure even) North American wizarding families.  Both the maternal and paternal sides trace back to Europe but both were persecuted by the Muggle communities they lived in due to anxious views towards magic.

One side consists of the Bradbury name (famously connected with the Salem Witch Trials). Seurr comes from the altered surname Suire. It is a family with French roots and they came to the US as displaced "Arcadian" refugees (the area that includes modern day Maine).

Followed by the following commentary:
So, with Bradbury and Seurr/Suire being seen as pure in the right circles in the states, if you can prove that her father's side of the family is pure, or even that her father is perhaps a squib of muggleborn wizards, she can be considered pure by technicality. These days, records can be skewed to make anyone look pure.

Oscar,

Everything should look good but let me know if I've missed something.  Of course, now her father is second cousin to Gertrude Steinert, who links back to the Saxon Steinerchs, through Dave the Decapitator in the 15th century.  I think he killed unicorns?  Something insane. It's archaic enough that the old bat will love it, and we can probably get some money from Mungo's for the insanity bit, once the children are tested. Gertrude's too daft in her old age to contest the link, and once someone 'reminds' her, she'll probably fight tooth and nail to defend it.

You're a pal.  Remind me and you can give a toast at the wedding.

Graham

The bundle of aged papers remains relatively unchanged, except on one.  Several letters have been adjusted to take on the shape of other names, the ink just dried but already appearing as if to have aged for several years.
