[Mar. 5] Boredom can kill (Arielle)

    Outfit

Demitria lounged out on the steps in front of the Great Hall, twirling her wand in her hands. She wasn’t in the best mood, but it was mostly because she was bored. Dead bored. It was well after all of her classes had finished, but she still had a few hours until dinner. It was positively dismal outside, even for the Russian who loved snow and cold. She had no homework to do. It was in the middle of the afternoon, so there was no way she could get from the Great Hall to the Room of Requirement to play her piano without being noticed.

She sighed deeply. The blood red wood kept spinning faster and faster while Mimi became more and more spaced out. Before she knew it, her wand went clattering down the stairs. Feeling her wand slip out of her hands was like being dumped in cold water. Forgetting she was wearing heels, the usually suave Slytherin recoiled so drastically she slipped down a few steps. What had once been a slight frown was now a full blown scowl. She picked herself up, her eyes smoldering, and walked down the rest of the stairs to grab the wand that was, by then, on the floor.

She sat back down on the first step and rubbed the bridge of her nose. She needed to do something before she went mad.

Boredom had not only struck Demitria, it had also struck Arielle Snark. Now, Miss. Snark did not take kindly too boredom, but then what self-respecting soul would. Arielle grumbled at the very idea of doing homework. Maybe, just maybe, studying for her OWLs was a good idea, but not her idea of fun. Perhaps she could sneak off with a comic or two, but by now there were many others in the Gryffindor common room, how was one supposed to sneak comics from her trunk and out of the common room. Heaven forbid if someone saw her with those geeky articles.

Arielle had decided she would do a quick surveillance of the grounds, be a good prefect or something like that. She had pulled her sweater on wrapping herself up for the frigid air outside. She had her house scarf on so that at least would keep her neck warm, but she really wasn’t ready for the weather. With wand in hand she was about to head to the doors when she saw Demitria on the steps. Now that seemed like a better use of time.

“Demitria,” she said as she sat down next to her. “I fear we are both suffering from boredom. I actually thought about going and being a good prefect and patrol the grounds and corridors when it was not my time.” Arielle laughed and looked at her friend. “I say we go find something to do.”

When Demitria heard Arielle’s voice, she nearly breathed an audible sigh of relief. When did that girl not come and save her? She sat up straight and scooted over slightly on the steps as the Gryffindor sat down.

“I fear we are both suffering from boredom. I actually thought about going and being a good prefect and patrol the grounds and corridors when it was not my time. I say we go find something to do.”

Mimi beamed at her friend. “Why, darling, I was thinking the very same thing.” She paused for a moment. “But what could we do? It’s positively horrific outside.” Her pure jade eyes lit up like bonfires as her mind whirled. “I have an idea…” She said, a small smirk crossing her features.

She stood up extremely quickly, despite the fact she was wearing four-inch heels. She extended her hand to the still seated Gryffindor and said “Have you ever been to the kitchens, darling?”

Mimi had a point, it was positively horrific outside and that meant what they could do was rather limited. Arielle wasn’t really sure what they could do; if she knew they probably they would not be in the bored situation to begin with. Arielle just shrugged her shoulders as she looked down at the entrance hall.

Mimi’s sudden rise she was a little startled, it was like she had a full body epiphany. Arielle couldn’t help but let a chuckle slip from her lips. The chuckle quickly ended as she mentioned the kitchens and held out her hand. “No, I don’t usually go to the kitchens.” One it was one of the places the students shouldn’t go, two it was the kitchen. “Why would we go to the kitchens?” Arielle looked at her friend rather confused.

Demitria watched Arielle's face with intrest. The Gryffindor's expression gave away her immense suprise at Strellie's question. The Slytherin was well aware that the kitchens were off limits, but would she truly be a Slytherin if she didn't... bend the rules now and then?

A smirk appeared on her face, "The real question, darling, is why not?" Demitria's green eyes glittered. She began walking and said behind her, "Have you ever made cookies without magic?"

“No, I haven’t made cookies without magic.” Arielle said quietly as she got to her feet. She was not really concerned about the baking at the moment, more concerned about being a prefect in the kitchens. She supposed if she didn’t get caught or questioned about it would be okay. Arielle preferred to remain within the school rules, but now and then she did stretch them. Today would be one of those occasions. “You know it is against the rules, and as a prefect I should even let you. But today I shall make an exception I suppose.” Arielle flashed a bit of a smile.

She was ready to take the leap to break the rules, more like stretch them really, but was she ready to get her hands dirty? She wasn’t so sure she was keen on the idea of actually participating in the actual baking without magic.

Mimi took Arielle's arm and they sauntered down the hall. She flashed the taller girl a bright smile. "Well, then, I'll just have to teach you." Her mind wandered back to the small home she had shared with just her mother and their cats. She didn't think anyone at the entire school knew how simple a life she and her mother lived while they were at home. Well, simple was relative... It was lavish simplicity. Even the couches in their living room were a few hundred galleons.

Neither Strellie nor Darya were normal purebloods. They may have been, when Taras had been controlling their every breath, but not anymore. Now, they were free to live how they wished.

Strellie suddenly felt a quick pang of guilt. What if they got caught and Arielle got her position stripped? It would be completley her fault! The tiny Russian stopped suddenly and pulled her arm out of Arielle's. "Ummm... Darling. If you don't want to, just tell me. If it's too risky, we don't have to."

Strellie had also suddenly felt embarrased about her favorite pastime (other than piano, of course). She realized that she was hardly a "normal pure-blood", but had hidden the fact well over the years. If she hadn't she could have barely been one of Kitty's Monarchy.
