How did the idea of a ball begin?: SAWS started it, I think.
How much money do you hope to raise?: I dunno, as much as I can steal? Enough for a plaque, my brother says. And probably some new supplies for the clubs or something , he's being all vague.
Which school clubs are involved and what are their roles?: SAWS is being pretentious big nosed running the clubs at the event or something, the Art club is doing photos, someone's doing love stuff or something.
Which bands will be performing at the dance?: 3OS I think. Some others. No one will tell me. ;(
Which wizarding organisations or businesses will participate at the dance?: Spell punk (fuck hell ya)
How will this help bring students together?: Dancing, maybe alcohol and 3OS? Oh and something about a dead chick, I was kinda stuck on the beer + boobs combo. And a memorial for Ava Grosvenor because we all miss her. Except for Callum Knight who jumped on the Quidditch Cap position like me guys on a drunk cheerleader.
How did you, personally, help put this idea into action?: I told my brother I liked it.

How do you feel about Ava Grosvenor's death?: Sucked.
What will be done to commemorate Ava Grosvenor?: A plaque I think

Anything else?:

What is your age and house?: 17/Hufflepuff

Your Answers to Questions (Optional):

How did the idea of a ball begin?: S.A.W.S started the idea in mid-January, but with the unfortunate death of Ms. Gosvenor plans were adjusted to honor her memory and hopefully cheer the school up.
How much money do you hope to raise?: As much as we can, so we can distribute it to not only to the clubs for supplies and aid but also to afford a  dedication in Grosvenor's memory.
Which school clubs are involved and what are their roles?: S.A.W.S is currently spearheading the event and we are working with the bands. The art club with be managing a photo booth, the Hogwarts Choir and Band plan to perform, the Divination Club will be doing readings, and members of other clubs that don't have a direct event planned (such as the Dueling Club and the Astronomy club) are working as staff. We have teachers planning to help as well.
Which bands will be performing at the dance?:Currently Three Owl Standard and Mandrake Siren are signed on for sure; other bands have been contacted and are currently under negotiation.
Which wizarding organisations or businesses will participate at the dance?:Spellpunk's owner Meredith Renfield will be hosting the ball proper.
How will this help bring students together?: We hope that the cooperation, teamwork and fun will boost the school's sadly flagging spirit in light of Grosvenor's death and other various goings-on.
How did you, personally, help put this idea into action?: As a member of both S.A.W.S and the Dueling club and a school prefect I have been helping Ms. Blake with this event to best of my abilities.

How do you feel about Ava Grosvenor's death?: It was as sad as it was mysterious. We can only hope her murderers are brought to justice, that she is not forgotten, and this dreadful event does not see a repeat.
What will be done to commemorate Ava Grosvenor?: The proceeds of the event will be going towards a memorial. Since the final result will depend on our revenue, I cannot say what the final memorial will look like or be.

Anything else?: I apologize for my brother's letter. There was an unfortunate accident with the stairs and his head as a child. We do our best to cope.

What is your age and house?: 17/Hufflepuff.

Important! Do you prefer to be quoted anonymously or by name?: I have no preference; do as you see fit.

Thank you for your participation!

Your Answers to Questions (Optional):

How did the idea of a ball begin?: Well, it started in a SAWS meeting, we were talking about the next step to get our name out there, get people interested in our cause - and someone rather aptly pointed out that to most teenagers speakers - even good speakers and lectures are boring. Which got me thinking, in the rather offshoot way that I think, what is one thing that would get people talking? Music of course! So I sort of blurted it out in the middle of the meeting, the idea of a benefit concert, cause my Mum, who works in the Liaison office is always talking about how there is never enough money to go around to everyone. Anyway it soon became obvious that it was just too big to do alone, and we asked the other clubs to kind of join forces and it went from being a benefit concert for SAWS into what it is now.

How much money do you hope to raise?: Before I wasn’t really sure, I mean I knew it would be a lot of work but I had no idea how much it would entire. Now though, we have people making donations and we’re putting together more ideas every day to raise money…so I guess “a lot” would be the closest number I could give you!

Which school clubs are involved and what are their roles?: SAWS, of course, the Art Club, the Hogwarts Players and Choir, the Divination club, and a few others have thrown their weight behind it, especially since Ava’s death.

Which bands will be performing at the dance?: Mandrake Siren, 3 Owl Standard, our very own Choir, and I’m trying to talk a few students into getting up on stage too. There is lots of untapped talent in Hogwarts!

Which wizarding organizations or businesses will participate at the dance?: Spellpunk of course, Miss. Renfield has been really amazing about offering her time and event planning skills since we asked. Honeydukes has offered to do little candy baskets, and there are a couple of (as yet) anonymous benefactors who have donated money to the cause.

How will this help bring students together?: This year has been really hard on Hogwarts, I mean it’s been hard on everyone. There is so much worry weighing down on the student body - I really just hope that we can have one night to just be kids you know? To be silly and dance and laugh, a night to remember as really happy from a year that hasn’t been so far. I want this to be something we all look back on in ten years and remember that no matter how hard it was, no matter how many bad things happened, when push came to shove we all got together and made something magical happen

How did you, personally, help put this idea into action?: It was my idea! Well, sort of. I don’t think anyone can take total credit for what it’s become. I’m also a member of basically every club participating so I have my hands in kind of everything - which I like, it keeps me busy.

How do you feel about Ava Grosvenor's death?: It’s so sad! A loss of any life is tragic, but Ava was so young, I mean I know my Abuela says that there is a plan for all of us - but  I can’t understand what it could possibly be. We weren’t close or anything, but she was kind of a celebrity around Hogwarts. It all seems to tragic.

What will be done to commemorate Ava Grosvenor?: Well, a plaque doesn't seem like enough - but that’s the most solid idea we have right now. It really depends on how much money we bring in - which is why people should donate, donate, donate! She deserves to be remembered in an impressive and important way.

Anything else?: I think it’s really important that people see and understand that we as a generation have a voice, and it is a really powerful thing when we all pull together. So often people are quick to dismiss teenagers because we’re young and we “can’t possibly understand” the world around us. It’s not true, we understand so much more than people give us credit for - and that is why we’re trying to make a difference. Love and kindness will always triumph over hate and fear in the end. We know that, that’s why we’re trying to make a difference.

What is your age and house?: I’m a fifth year Gryffindor!

Important! Do you prefer to be quoted anonymously or by name?: By name.

Thank you, so much, for taking an interest in what we're trying to do.

Your Answers to Questions (Optional):

How did the idea of a ball begin?: The idea came about during a Students Against Werewolf Segregation (SAWS) meeting. With the recent tragedy of Ms. Grosvenor, it hardly surprising that our minds turned to something we could do for her.
How much money do you hope to raise?: Enough to cover the cost of the event and create a suitable memorial to Ms. Grosvenor.
Which school clubs are involved and what are their roles?: I cannot speak for all the clubs. Of course SAWS is involved, there is talk about the art and divination clubs assisting in the event as well, however as I am not a member of these clubs, I can hardly say for certain. As for the the dueling club, of which I am president, I will try and recruit members to assist with set up and clean up of the ball, but we will not have a special booth as our usual activities are quite unsuited to a ball.
Which bands will be performing at the dance?: There has been talk of Three Owl Standard performing, though whether this is just a pipe dream remains to be seen. Certainly one would hope that the members would recognize and appreciate the importance of a memorial ball. I have also heard of the school choir and band preforming, which I think at this point is an almost a certainty.
Which wizarding organisations or businesses will participate at the dance?: I have heard that the owner of a nightclub called Spellpunk is offering her assistance. Apparently it is popular amoung students. I wouldn't know - I don't usually deign to spend my time at nightclubs.
How will this help bring students together?: Any event outside of classes that will physically bring students together can only be a good thing. Ms. Grosvenor's death was the greatest of tragedies and the students have felt the weight of her death, even the ones that barely knew her. A celebration of life and a memorial such as the one we are planning will be therapeutic for everyone.
How did you, personally, help put this idea into action?: As a member of SAWS, I will be assisting them in planning and set up and extending my aid wherever it is needed.
How do you feel about Ava Grosvenor's death?: I can't say I knew Ms. Grosvenor well, but it doesn't change the horror that is a student death. I'm sure I'm not alone in my belief that this should never have happened and I for one feel the loss of life snuffed out before her time.
What will be done to commemorate Ava Grosvenor?: With any luck (and some hard work by students) this funraiser will allow us to create a memorial for her on campus.

Anything else?: Nothing else at this time.

What is your age and house?: 16, Fifth year Gryffindor.

Important! Do you prefer to be quoted anonymously or by name?: by name if you please.

How did the idea of a ball begin?: I admit, I'm not entirely sure.  I've heard rumors the werewolf club started planning some sort of Valentine's benefit a few weeks back.  Since werewolves aren't really something I associate with St. Valentine, I didn't think much about it.  I wouldn't have been going, either, except the focus has changed some.
How much money do you hope to raise?:  They are, apparently, planning a memorial for Ava.  I don't know the details, though.  They'll ideally raise enough money for that.  I don't know if we're able to contribute to one goal and not another.  I don't really agree with combining those two concepts; we really should be remembering a student's life without muddling it with controversial and questionable politics like werewolf rights.  I'd like to contribute to Ava's memorial but I have no interest in supporting SAWS.
Which school clubs are involved and what are their roles?:  I believe all are participating in one way or another.  I'm president of the Muggle Appreciation Club but members are being encouraged to contribute on their own.  I'm afraid I'm not in a place, yet, to be organizing their group efforts in this.
Which bands will be performing at the dance?: I'm not sure.  I haven't been following the details.
Which wizarding organisations or businesses will participate at the dance?:  Same as above.
How will this help bring students together?: I know that's what people are hoping.  Maybe it will.  It depends on how some key participants handle their fellow students.
How did you, personally, help put this idea into action?: I wasn't sure if my contributions would be welcome.  I don't really know what a lot of my classmates think.  So, other than requesting to contribute to the memorial, I've stayed out of this.
How do you feel about Ava Grosvenor's death?: You mean, how do I feel about Ava's murder?  I'm terrified and confused have lots of regrets.  I wish I'd known her longer as my sister.  I don't understand why she died.  I don't understand why someone would kill her.  I don't know if this was connected to my other sister's murder.  I don't know if my third sister is safe.  I just don't know what to feel but I'm terrified.
What will be done to commemorate Ava Grosvenor?:  There's talk of a plaque or something.  I wish ... plaques and memorials seem so stagnant and focused on the past.  I wish we could focus more on the future but - I don't really know.
Anything else?:
What is your age and house?:  15; Ravenclaw
Important! Do you prefer to be quoted anonymously or by name?:  The Daily Prophet hasn't cared about my anonymity before this.  Why would it start now?

Your Answers to Questions (Optional):

How did the idea of a ball begin?: It actually started as an idea for a benefit concert. Sophie brought it up during our SAWS meeting in late January. After Ava's death though, we sorta changed it to include all the clubs (that are interested), and us and the students made it into something that takes place at Hogwarts instead of in Hogsmeade. The dance is going to be in a big tent on the Hogwarts grounds.
How much money do you hope to raise?: As much as we can, I think. We are going to split up the profits between all the clubs (even those that didn't or couldn't participate much), and we're going to set aside a chunk of money for Ava.
Which school clubs are involved and what are their roles?: SAWS, I guess, is helping to organise and contact people. A lot of other clubs are involved that way too. The Art Club is doing a photo booth for couples and friends. Divination club is doing love readings, I think. Hogwarts Choir and Players are performing.
Which bands will be performing at the dance?: Three Owl Standard and Mandrake Siren for sure.
Which wizarding organisations or businesses will participate at the dance?: Meredith Renfield from Spellpunk will be hosting. Eleanor St. James will be taking photos. I think Tilly from Reducto Records will be there too.
How will this help bring students together?: This idea kinda started off as something done by one or two clubs, in January. But Ava's death.... well, this year hasn't been easy on anyone. But what happened to her really affected everyone. So we thought that if all the clubs could work together towards something good, and not even all the clubs but any interested students, that we could do something constructive. We could cheer people up and find a way to memorialise Ava in our own way. I think that some might think of a dance as being not serious enough, or even inappropriate. But to me, it's important that we all find something to be happy about and try to remember her at the same time. Because Ava wasn't really... a gloomy or serious person. She was responsible, and smart, but she also had this mischievous and fun streak to her. Anyway, it makes me feel better that we have this common goal we're working towards. It's not about one club, or one idea, but about all of us and how we can make things better.

How did you, personally, help put this idea into action?: I'm one of the more active members of SAWS, and I'm also president of the art club. I've mainly been contacting people, getting permission for things, and trying to help pull the clubs together. But it's a group effort. Some people had really great ideas, others are helping to organise, others are doing both.

How do you feel about Ava Grosvenor's death?: I'm not sure how to answer that. Upset? Shocked? Scared? Relieved it wasn't me? We weren't good friends, or exactly friends. We used to not get along, before our sixth year. I think anyone, no one deserves to die so young. It happened so suddenly and without warning. It wasn't fair.

What will be done to commemorate Ava Grosvenor?: Well, if we don't get a lot of money, I think we will make a plaque for her. But we're hoping to do something bigger than that. It depends on how much we can earn.

Anything else?: I don't think so!

What is your age and house?: I'm 17, in Hufflepuff.

Important! Do you prefer to be quoted anonymously or by name?: By name.

Daily Prophet:

Thanks for your letter.  Here is what I think.

First of all Valentimes has nothing to do with Ava getting killed or werewolfs.  Second of all I have no idea who is planning the party but it better be at Signature and it better have Creevey.  CREEVEY RULES!!!! 3OS is the best band ever so I hope they are playing at the dance.  Third of all I have a girlfriend or will have one very shortly so if its all boring with a fundraiser or a funeral I am going to be well bored.  Love Ava and really sorry for her family but a party is a party and it needs to be fun.  Ava would have wanted us to get crunked.

Your Answers to Questions (Optional):

How did the idea of a ball begin?: I think it started with the SAWS group. One of the head people, Fauna Blake is a brill artist, by the way. You should see some of her awesome doodles on the club posters.

How much money do you hope to raise?: Me or the clubs and stuff? Got be specific darling, 'cause that's two very different questions.

Which school clubs are involved and what are their roles?:Brace yourself, 'cause it's a list we have here.
SAWS- organizers/instigators
Divination Club- Looove readings
Art club- photo booth
Choir and band- performing

Which bands will be performing at the dance?: Heard that 3oS and/or Mandrake Siren. Which, can you say squealing fangirls? I'm pretty sure if they all collectively asked for the shirts off people's backs, the fangirls would do it and then explode from the fangirlnesss that their shirts got touched by whoever. Maybe the school choir's gonna perform, but with all props to 'em they won't be headliners by any stretch of the imagination.

Which wizarding organisations or businesses will participate at the dance?:
Spellpunk is one of the biggie's. Meredith Renfield is hosting the ball, crossing my fingers that the decor is more Spellpunk than hearts and flowers.

How will this help bring students together?: Other than the fact it's a ball and we'll be forced into the same room for something other than the end and beginning of the year announcements? It's a dance. Don't you know how teenagers work, darling? Nothing better for bringing us rowdy lot into happiness and joy. Well at least until you snog the wrong bloke's date. Know what I mean?

How did you, personally, help put this idea into action?:You mean besides giving out free makeovers from the goodness of my heart and being a shinning example of how real party people rock the house?

How do you feel about Ava Grosvenor's death?:Blunt of you, love. I'll be blunt back. It sucks. It sucks waking up in the morning and knowing that just a few doors away there's an empty bed that'll stay empty the rest of the year. It sucks that there's always gonna be one less seat filled in class. It sucks for her family and close friends. I wasn't a best mate, but I was in her house and her year. I knew the girl six and a half years and she's gone. And it sucks. It's not a question for parchment and owl post, love.

What will be done to commemorate Ava Grosvenor?:Honestly, I don't know. I'd like to think that her housemates and yearmates are keeping her in our thoughts. Really, any memorial or monument is going to be for her family when it gets down to it.

Anything else?:I think, in the interest of you writing a better article and getting better in touch with your sources I should send you a picture of me. I'll even autograph it for you.

What is your age and house?: 18, Slytherin

Important! Do you prefer to be quoted anonymously or by name?: Name hun. Don't you know I'll be famous some day? Better get used to spelling it right now. That's Fir like the tree, not like the animal hair.
