[February 3] The couch appointment [Arianna]

on November 11, 2010, 09:22:51 PM

Eirene stood just outside Arianna Wickwood's door, peeking in the small window every few moments. She'd signed up for an appointment, and they had one minute before it was her turn! Eirene did everything but literally tap her foot as she waited. When the door finally opened, she whirled around to frown disapprovingly at...

What looked to be a brother and sister, wiping tears from their eyes. Eirene stared after them in dismay. She didn't want to weep in front of an adult, even though she did it without meaning to more often than she liked. She'd just turned twelve after all, and she was supposed to be cool and sophisticated! Like Sasha or Evie. Or even Waker, the Head Girl!

So Eirene knocked very politely on the door, and then flounced inside, head tilted up. She would prove that she was smart and sensible and mature for her age!

"I'm Eirene Antonopoulos," she put an apple on the woman's desk and gave her a cheery smile.

"My mother said I needed to see you, Prof-  Madame Wickwood." Eirene informed her, as if the counselor could just read her mind and know exactly what she needed. Isn't that what counselors did? She was quite confused on the matter. Her mother was a Healer of physical injuries, maladies brought on by poisons or plants, and Eirene knew other Healers existed, of course, but they couldn't be nearly as important, or else her mother would have told her all about them!

Her sole experience with a counselor of any kind had been over the holiday break, when she'd gotten hysterical over her Troll in Flying. She still shuddered just thinking about it. But that had been one counseling session, and the Healer had been her mother's friend, and her mother had even sent the family house-elf in with her to hold her hand.

Eirene stood there with her hands clasped in front of her, an eager-to-please smile on her face, glancing around and wondering where the scrying tools were located. Her peers had told her that some counselors used Divination to delve into the mind and know a person's secrets. She'd also heard that counselors were supposed to have couches. Eirene didn't see one. What kind of healer was this? Where was the couch?
