Naomi’s bare nylon feet drummed against the arm of one of the couches in the Slytherin Common Room, as she laid on her stomach in her school dress (sans the button down shirt,) across the crouch, marking rows of handwriting in black ink through a slim pile of parchment as if she were writing a novel. However, it was to her mother about classes during the first week of school, as well as the new teachers, and less about what she learned and more about how lessons were going since nothing had actually happened. But Naomi was positive she’d get a rather strongly worded letter back about something she needed to do to improve her studies or make it more challenging, despite her efforts to make it seem like she didn’t.

It was rather easy too, she had the light of the fire and only the sounds of its popping in the fireplace, since her other classmates were in bed or had gone straight to bed after the rather laborious astronomy lessons. So the common room was quiet and she was alone to finish her stupid letter and get to bed as quickly as possible, without anyone causing any sort of drama or raucous.
