Lies & Deceit
Since the beginning of his magical education, much of Sasha's identities have been based in carefully laid out lies and fallacies.  Being conservative and religious, his parents didn't take kindly to the news that Sasha was a wizard.  Due to the strength of their negative reaction, the Ministry was forced to modify their memories and an intricate cover story was put in place to make it possible for Sasha to receive magical training.  While Sasha's parents believed he was attending an elite international boarding in Switzerland, most of Sasha's classmates, peers and professor's were equally oblivious to the fact that Sasha pretended to be a muggle outside of school.  For the first four years of school, Headmaster Greyfriar was the only one at school that was aware of the lies in place..  In his fifth year, Sasha finally confessed his magical abilities to his sister in a letter but it wasn't until his suspension in November that the rest of his family became aware that anything was amiss.

A Foot In Two Worlds - Bridging the Wizard and Muggle Worlds

Having maintained both muggle and magical academic pursuits, Sasha has learned to skirt the line between the muggle and magical world.  Until this year, the need to keep secrets alive and well forced Sasha to keep both the wizarding and muggle worlds at arm's length from each other.  Even now, as the need to keep the world's separate has diminished, Sasha continues to hold a feel as much of a sense of belonging to the muggle world as he does the wizarding world.  This year, Sasha organized the Muggle Appreciation Club at school - hoping it'd give muggleborns an opportunity to continue to explore their muggle heritage and might help those students who were raised in wizarding only families better understand muggle life and culture.  As Sasha gets older and starts seeing his association with both worlds as an advantage rather than a hinderance, his interest in exploring the line between muggle science and magic grows.  Though he wouldn't admit it in casual conversation, defining 'magic' from a scientific perspective is Sasha's career goals.

SAWS - A Bad Idea For A Movie, Worse Idea For A Club

On the whole, Sasha has managed to avoid inheriting the brunt of his family's intolerance and bigotry.  He does have a tendency to get uncomfortable with conversations that involve topics outside of his fairly narrow comfort zone.  Werewolves, however, have become the exception.  Sasha had the fairly typical 'as long as they don't live next door' response to werewolves at the start of the year.  Since then, he's been witness to and a victim of two separate werewolf attacks.  His growing fear of werewolves is heightening his growing intolerance towards them.

Wrong Place, Wrong Time - Criminal Witness and Victim

After reading of Sasha's situation in Rita Skeeter's articles in the Daily Prophet, crime boss Kronos Malvivicus developed an interest in Sasha.  Seeing a bit of himself in Sasha, Kronos made it his plan to mold Sasha into his own image and the son he never had.  When Sasha was suspended in November, one of Kronos' men abducted Sasha from Hogsmeade and brought him to one of Kronos' many residences.  Sasha had been, understandably, terrified, at first and convinced he was going to be killed.  Though his distrust in Kronos' men never faded, Kronos was able to manipulate Sasha and take advantage of his insecurities.  Sasha believed he'd found in Kronos what he'd never found at home: a sense of unconditional pride and approval.  A few days into Sasha's abduction, Kronos intercepted a bullying letter about Ferguson kissing Sasha in the boy's loo.  In an attempt to convince Sasha that such affections were normal and acceptable, Kronos confessed his own attraction to men. 

By the time Sasha left, he'd come to fully trust and believe that Kronos had his best interest in mind.  He still exhibits  a pretty profound case of stockholm syndrome.  Sasha pretty adamantly views Terry Katsaros and the other kronies as the abductors and bad guys; Sasha's perception that it was Kronos that kept him safe from these men only enhanced the stockholm syndrome.  Though Dreogan, Ferguson, his sister and others have all tried to convince him otherwise, Sasha still clings to the belief that Kronos does care for him.  He's careful to keep his continued associations with Kronos a secret. 

This association with a criminal seemed to have set the stage for Sasha to find himself witness to or, even, involved in a number of criminal proceedings.  From the witnessing the murder of his family on Christmas, 2008 and killing the intruder in self-defense to witnessing Ava Grosvenor's murder, bad luck seems to have shadowed Sasha since his abduction.

Academics, School Involvement and Career Development

Very much a classic example of a Ravenclaw, Sasha performs very well, academically, and possesses a strong and dedicated work ethic.  He excels at study material that requires and involves logic, reasoning or rote memorization.  In order to maintain the perception that he's attending a muggle school, Sasha has also been independently studying the four basic muggle subject areas since his first year: math, science, history, literature and a foreign language: French.  Having been paired with a wand that never chose him for the first four years of his magical education, Sasha always struggled some with the practical side of magic. 

Sasha's fifth year has been a challenging one.  After not winning any favors with the new Headmistress, Analiza Snark, during the End of Year Feast his fourth year, Sasha found himself without the usual administrative support as he negotiated school.  After a false accusation of cheating, sneaking out on a full moon and getting time away from school approved by only his Head of House and not the Headmistress, Sasha is suspended in mid-November for the remainder of the fall term.  He returns to school in January only to be dismissed by the Board of Governors in mid-February for the remainder of the spring term. 
 
At this time, Sasha is hoping to find a way to put both the muggle and magical sides of his education to practical use when he completes his education.  After finishing NEWTS, Sasha is planning to take a year or two to finish his muggle education and sit muggle A-Levels in mathematics and science.  He may continue onto a university at that point with the end goal of getting involved with comparative magic-science research.
