Nikolas looks older than he actually is. Far taller than average for his age, he shows every sign of beating out his 6'2" father when he grows up. His skin is naturally tan and has many small scars from various injuries from when he was younger(the family's close proximity to muggles meant that his parents couldn't just fix him up with magic). His two most prominent scars were from a camping trip his family took with some of their muggle neighbors. Nikolas cut up his lower lip and chin as well as his left hand, and, like all of his other scars, his parents were forced to have the cuts heal naturally.
Previously his black brown hair was cut in a short shaggy style which allowed just a little of natural curl to show through. Over the winter he shaved his hair into a
Mohawk as part of a bet from his cousins (he won) much to his mother's horror. His hair is starting to grow back so he has buzz cut length hair on the sides making the ridge of hair stand out less. He only gelled it up in spikes once, for the bet, and has refused to do so since then, finding the stiffness of his hair impeding his nervous habit of running his fingers through his hair. His eyes are a bright cornflower blue and combined with his dark hair and skin they stand out significantly.
Because of his parents, he speaks some of the Alsatian dialect but only just enough for basic conversations and is far more competent at French which his parents still converse in at home.
Personality Description: An adrenaline junkie from a family of outdoorsy people, Nikolas' philosophy is live life to the extreme. He's the kind of person who finds bungee jumping and sky diving regular fun and loves the rush from being that close to danger. Minor injuries won't stop him (he considers them a badge of pride) but he wouldn't do anything that would cause major injuries on purpose. This is not because he dislikes doing things that would give him a broken bones or a concussion, but because being laid out for a long time while he heals is no fun (and his mother would make him heal naturally, that is if she didn't kill him first).
Given his nature, he enjoys being active but not regimented activity (i.e. he enjoys flying on a broom but dislikes playing Quidditch) and will attempt to create something to entertain himself if necessary. He's not naturally interested in pranks but will join up if there's adventure and sneakiness involved. He frequently takes trips out to the forbidden forest (after all with a name like that who could resist) and had gotten scolded and lost many points for Gryffindor over it which hasn't deterred him one bit (he's just gotten sneakier about it).
Nikolas takes after his father's mellow personality and free spirit, and prefers to take life as it comes. He is polite, friendly and warm with practically everyone but is only truly open with those that he is close with, such as his family, but those that fall in-between acquaintance and close friend get to see some of his playful personality and cheek. He can sometimes come off as overly familiar, as he will address anyone by their nickname, no matter how well he knows them, if this is the name that has become associated to them in his head. For example, Tulojow Nadge is Tulo to him instead of Madam Nadge because he overheard another student call her that and it became associated in his head as her name. Being informed of her real name changed nothing in this regard.
School wise, he's not stupid, but he won't pay more attention than necessary to get good grades (as mandated by his mother) unless it interests him. DADA and (surprisingly to most who know him) Ancient Runes are his favorite subjects. He's also starting to enjoy Astronomy more now, mostly because the added muggle science means that he doesn't have to study that on his own now.

History: Born the last child and only son of Thomas and Oriana Falkenrath. Thomas and Oriana had met when they were both in school at Beauxbatons Academy of Magic. Thomas is a Muggleborn from Strasbourg, France. Oriana is an Italian American half-blood who's family has always gone to Beauxbatons which is why she attended it instead of the Salem Witches Institute.
Just before his birth, his family had moved to Old Coulsdon, UK from Everett, Washington due to his mother being hired by St. Mungo's for their Spell Damage division . His father moved his business headquarters to the UK and began picking up a lot more international business. The muggle version of the Falkenrath furniture shop is in downtown Sutton and a wizard extension is in Diagon Alley.
The family has always lived with one foot in the wizarding world and one in the muggle world and both Thomas and Oriana make their children keep up schooling wise with their muggle peers. His childhood was one of adventure and sporting, his family going camping/backpacking regularly in the spring/summer and skiing/snowboarding in the winter; the family frequently vacationing in the Cascades with his grandparents. When he got older he picked up rock climbing and dirt biking for fun.
It was around this time that his parents decided to send his oldest sister Camilla to Hogwarts instead of their alma matter of Beauxbatons, primarily because both preferred the current curriculum at Hogwarts, Juliana would join her sister a year later and Nikolas four years after that.
While Nikolas has a close bond with both his parents and sisters, he is closer to his father than his mother in general, Thomas sharing his son's enjoyment of some of the more extreme sports. Oriana is the much more stern and emotional parent to her husband's easy going attitude to parenting. Nikolas gets along well with his sisters but both of them can find his exuberance and thrill seeking attitude exhausting, especially Julianna.
