I’ve been here a while. If you have written other characters here, list them all: Akiva Katz, Margo Amherst, Archer Radley, Phineas Maele.Full Character Name: Jordyn “JD” Sage DimblebyCharacter Birthday & Age: September 5, 1992: 16City & Country of Birth: London, England Pureblood, Halfblood or Muggleborn: Half-blood. Though her grandparents are witches and wizards, they are not from pureblooded stock. House & Year: Slytherin: Fifth YearWand: Carved from Aspen wood with a Wenge wood handle, Jordyn’s wand was crafted carefully and relates to her eloquence and charm, as well as her thoughtful nature. At ten inches, it is not long or short, and the hippogriff talon center of the wand is not only good for charm work, but also a sigh of demand for respect. The wood has an inflexible sort of property when it is swished.Physical Description:Jordyn has a dark appearance about her. That is not to say she looks evil, but her features are heavy and her skin tone is comparable to most English-born people. She has light skin and pink lips, but her hair is dark and so are her eyes. One would have to get very close to her to see that they are indeed brown, not black, and she has a tendency to rim them with dark make-up. Her expression is frequently serious and one would imagine she is older than she is by looking at her expression. She does look like a fifteen year old girl in every other way, however, and when she chooses to smile can be very pretty. Fashion, for Jordyn, is something she enjoys at the proper time. She feels like whenever one is in public, one is displaying an image, and she likes hers to be stylish, forward, and commanding, much like herself. She follows the rules for school, but when she is not on the school’s clock, she likes to be as fashionable as possible and has a distinct love for fedora hats. Her build is slight and at only five feet and three inches, she seems bigger than she really is. She likes to wear high heeled shoes to make up for some of it and her natural confidence also makes her appear taller. She’s not exactly thin, but isn’t heavy either, and just takes advantage of what she has, enhancing herself as much physically as she does personally. Personality Description:Jordyn likes to portray herself as though she knows what she wants, though it could not be farther from the truth. She is completely lost in some respect as to what she wants to do with herself, and at fifteen, she’s decided that is okay, but at the same time – it makes her very nervous. She tends to focus on things far into the future, so much so that she loses track of what is going on in the here and now. It is helpful when being prepared for exams and class, but in her personal life, it often takes away from spending time doing fun things in place of doing “important” things. The things she deems important get done meticulously. Jordyn keeps records, makes list, and never overlooks a single detail. Analytic, she has a hard time with creative projects, often choosing cut and dry material that she can break down rather than expand upon. It makes her good at small picture subjects, like arithmancy, but she is horrendous at big picture studies, like history or divination. There is just not enough creativity in her academics for those to be her specialized subjects. Even still, Jordyn can be the jealous type and does not enjoy being out-performed, especially academically. There is a certain pride that Jordyn does everything with – she won’t hand in half-done work and certainly doesn’t go out of her dorm without being properly attired, even in the common room she upholds some level of decency beyond what others would. She’s got a lot of pride about her standing and though her family is not impoverished by any means, they are not nearly as wealthy as some of her friends and she finds that she often brags about what she does have to cover up what they do not have. It’s very embarrassing for a teenage girl obsessed with the fashionable and fabulous to know she cannot afford most of the robes in the designer magazines. She’s got her own very well defined set of opinions and a strict moral code she lives by, basically a guide to do what’s best for her and the greater institution. Often, she loses sight of the small picture, but her grandiose visions of justice and right/wrong are impressive. She has the typical personality of one who seeks to achieve and won’t hesitate (too much) to sell someone else out for it. However, that does not mean she doesn’t have another side to herself. Although outwardly she has a cold, mean demeanor, Jordyn can, at times, let go and exhibit the tendencies of a normal teenage girl. Underneath the lists and organization, she does enjoy being a teenager, even marginally. She’d rather spend her time indoors though and disregards things she sees as frivolous. If she is going to play a game, she’ll play wizarding chess, seeing as though it has an intellectual purpose. Quidditch, she sees as a dirty sport and ignores it for the most part, unless of course Slytherin house is playing and then she may be coerced to come out and support her team (if it isn’t too cold out). She enjoys a good novel once and a while and may, on occasion, even be nice, if it behooves her to be that way. When it comes to boys, though Jordyn has found it is beneficial to have a boyfriend (does wonders for one’s reputation, and keeps people talking – always better to be talked about than ignored, plus it is fun!), she does not seem to have much of an emotional connection to the idea. She likes them, to be sure, but has never been in love and doubts that it’s that important at sixteen years old. It’s all frivolous fun and games, meant for unwinding! To stress them too much would clearly be violating the purpose of a teenage-hood romance! History:Born to Helen France-Dimbleby and Gerard Dimbleby, Jordyn was your typical ministry employees’ child. She respects the rules of society and is extremely well mannered, just in case a superior should drop in. Her parents would always brag about the type of daughter they were raising, hoping that she would find her way into the ministry as well, starting her young and priming her for the position of future leader. Naturally, Jordyn listened to her parents and was the dutiful daughter. They made sure they read to her every evening, gave her only the most educational toys, and didn’t pollute her mind with any nonsense. She was going to be raised the proper, English way. This meant she had only the best and was treated like a very small adult from the time she was very young. It was traditional for the family to work that way, and for her young years she was even sent away to school, she wouldn’t start showing her magical powers until she was around nine anyhow, boarding school wouldn’t do much against her. At boarding school, she was amongst another kind of elite. The wizarding circles they intended to expose their daughter to would not tolerate mediocrity and it did help her learn the ways to behave and the things society expected. Plus, she was, from a young age, very aware of the realities of going away to school and this bred a sort of independence in the little girl. Considering she was barely six when she began, it was an immediate indoctrination into the world of organized education, dormitories, and uniforms. She didn’t have much of a childhood, in retrospect, but that hasn’t affected her too badly. In fact, it’s only contributed to her sincerity in her goals and the rigidness in which she applies herself. Her parents sacrificed quite a lot to send Jordyn to the prestigious witches’ school. Her father had a decent job, but it did not really support the keeping up with the Malfoys lifestyle they adopted over the time. With this in mind, they kept Jordyn very aware of what they were doing and placed high expectations on her achievement in primary school before her getting into Hogwarts, which would be another type of fortune entirely, between books, uniforms, and other assorted necessities for the school year. Jordyn was keenly aware of how much she was supposed to be doing, and it carried on through the years. The high expectations set for Jordyn also gave her the groundwork to have high expectations for everyone else. She only kept the highest caliber of friends, having a keen sense that she wasn’t going to get anywhere without getting the right associates. She saw the kids that got in trouble and she had a choice – she could go on a path to become a good student, it would pay off. She knew it would. And when it came time to abandon the witches’ primary school and go to Hogwarts, Jordyn wasn’t one of those timid first years, not by any means. She was raring to get into Hogwarts and knew it was where she belonged. She had been at boarding school before and knew the ins and outs of authority and independence for it. This kind of education was built into her and she was ready for school before it even opened and marched onto the train with confidence. At the sorting feast she was placed into the proud house of Slytherin and from what her parents told her, she was suited for it. She found friends that were just as driven as she was, and as the years went on, slowly dropped away from those that were getting in trouble and only surrounded herself with the elite. When Jordyn was in her third year, things seemed to change a little though. Her father, having been a loyal ministry employee, was let go in the process of restricting the office (and something about embezzling, which is never spoken of and has been swept under the carpet since. But, the money that they had would last a while, but not very long. Jordyn was not entirely aware of the situation when she was younger, just assuming her father was staying home more often, as they never even told her, but toward the end of her fourth year, they sprung it on her. She was informed of their financial situation, which was starting to drop lower and lower. Jordyn did not want to admit this and her parents did not either, choosing to try and keep up appearances so far as charms and protections against the secret leaking would allow them. They still talk about where they are going on vacation and how much they spend on robes, though, noticeably, the last two years have seen far less entering the house than they say is entering. It causes Jordyn quite a bit of discomfort, especially when she promises wonderful trips and things to her friends that she will most assuredly tell them about, some of the details having to be fabricated to cover up the fact that the five star hotel might actually have been a three and not all dinners were had at chef’s tables. Jordyn’s pride gets in the way of implicating herself in a less than prestigious socio-economic class, so she hides behind a lot of talk and some skillfully reused essential pieces she can play off as a host of new items. So, when she was entering her fifth year she got her prefect letter, which was her biggest goal as far as she had at that point. Things seemed to be going well, despite having to hide the fact that her family was quickly tumbling into a financial hole, things weren’t exactly horrible. She had her new badge, after all, and was still able to uphold her charade. She looks for ways to get out of talking about things – or exaggerating what she has or is going to get. With her friends and her attitude, it’s no doubt that though Jordyn strives to stay out of trouble, there will be no lack of drama in her life. She will be a safe observer in most things, and just try to keep it together. With very little in her mind about what to do after school, she focuses on the most pertinent things – OWLs and NEWTs. A real job and that sort of thing is FAR too far in the future, even for Jordyn. How Do You Fit Into Your House?:Jordyn is a noble Slytherin. She has aspirations of greatness and is willing to be a Machiavellian leader to achieve them. Her cool demeanor has helped her and she always thinks before she does things, planning out all of her strikes. She’s conscious of her decisions and all of the things that she does and is meticulous about her education and all of her affairs. She makes the connections she has to make and will respect those that she knows will get her ahead in life. Although she’s not as outwardly ruthless as some of the other members of her house, she certainly isn’t above making executive decisions for herself that may not always benefit people. She holds herself as an authority and demands respect much of the time, finding it incredibly irritating when she isn’t being respected.Sum up your character in one paragraph:Jordyn Sage Dimbleby is a girl who knows what she wants. She is fierce, dedicated, and tough, but also refined and respectful. There is a coldness that she gives off to others and it is finely crafted to preserve her dignity and reputation. She has an intense amount of pride, Everyone slips up sometimes though, and Jordyn is not an exception. She has normal, teenage tendencies and changes her mind frequently, prone to bouts of jealousy and some mood swings. Skip to next post Re: Jordyn S. Dimbleby: Fifth Year Slytherin, Prefect Reply #1 on August 16, 2009, 07:26:20 PM Accepted - Sarah[Character Name:] Jordyn Dimbleby [Title Applying For:] 5th year Prefect, Slytherin [Link to Accepted Biography:]Bio[How Has Your Past Prepared You For This Honor?:] Jordyn has always been raised to respect the rules and authority. She does not dream of breaking the rules herself and often hinders her action based upon her understanding and respect for the rules. She chooses her friends wisely (for the most part) and prefers intelligence and prestige rather than basing her decisions solely off of blood or position. Getting tangled with the wrong people can lead to ultimate humiliation in the public setting and she would never subject herself to that. She would never involve herself in anything that would detract from the ability to perform in school and wants to be the best student possible, in all regards. Her marks speak for themselves and she does not have a disciplinary record that would raise any red flags. Her interests are in preserving tradition and the honor of being a Slytherin student. She does not think getting ahead means being underhanded. In fact, Jordyn would prefer to use her brain and words to just throwing out a spell to get her way. When dealing with people, she attempts to be fair and just (as much as a fifteen year old can) and she would take it exceptionally seriously. She doesn’t believe there is a better person for the job as she is the most organized, smartest, and promising student in her year. [What Do You Think the Most Important Aspect of This Job Is:?Outside of the title and the badge, you mean? Jordyn would have to say the most important aspect of the job is upholding the rules and regulations of Hogwarts to maintain the integrity of the institution. Hogwarts was not built in a day and has survived for so long by maintaining a certain level of decorum. Hundreds of years of history and prestige can be torn down by a lax in vigilance. Now, Jordyn wouldn’t suggest to totally crack the whip, but really, people need to be made aware of the rules and follow them! They are obviously there for a reason and the long standing reputation of Hogwarts churning out grade A students is proof that they are good rules. [Tell a Story From Your Past That Has Proven Your Mettle:] “I think I could recount any normal day and that would be enough to let you know just how much I deserve this position, but if I have to pick one (for the sake of time), I think I would have to choose a day just earlier in the year. I was informed, by an unnamed source (it is never polite to name one’s associates), that certain members of our house – my beloved Slytherin – were sneaking out after hours to ‘research’ as it were.Well, upon this discovery, I knew that the last students who should do such a thing would be Slytherins. Really, we’re supposed to be examples of what wizards can be (with a few notable exceptions), so I was not going to let this sort of behavior ruin the reputation I am dedicated to keeping. We’re not some school full of hellions and rule breakers anymore, really! Leave that to Potter (as talented and important as he was) and his ilk. We need to return to the traditions of Hogwarts. But, anyway, back to the important part of the story – where I do something! Rather than just tattling on the encroachers of rules, as that would have been completely underhanded, I approached them myself that evening to inform them that, did they not cease to sneak out of the dungeon after hours, I would be forced to have to inform those that would actually take action about it. This might not have worked had I not mentioned the possibility of losing points and then furthering our inability to win the house cup. Clearly, that evening they did not leave the dungeons, nor any other evening, as I was not kidding and would have reported them quite quickly! Unfortunately, even though I was brave and smart enough to inform them of their behavior and correct it before any real points were at stake, we still did not win the house cup. But, you may be asking yourself why that incident in particular highlights my ability and merit as a prefect so I shall tell you! It took an incredible amount of bravery to confront two members of my house and correct their behavior even though they were older than I was. It shows that, because of my warning, a rule was not broken, meaning that I was able to effectively use my standing in the house and the respect I have garnered to uphold the integrity of Hogwarts. I’m also incredibly fair! I went to members of my own house and reprimanded them. I am not afraid to tell anyone what they are doing wrong and then doing something about it. I take things upon myself to fix and when my own actions do not work, would not hesitate to take it to someone else who someone would listen to. I have really just been made for this sort of leadership position. I am a stellar student (I anticipate all Os and Es on my exams), and come from a very respectable family with standing in society. They have raised me correctly and taught me the importance of rules and tradition. I wish to impart those feelings to the rest of the student body.” Skip to next post Re: Jordyn S. If not for an unfortunate bout of dragon pox in the winter months, she would have served as Slytherin Prefect for both years she was able to. While she was prefect, Jordyn was nothing but professional and willing to keep up with her responsibilities and her schoolwork - never shirking on either. She is an exceptional student and follows all of the rules (almost to a fault). On the occasions that she has been on the wrong side of a rule, it was purely by accident. She is far too concerned with her reputation and future to risk anything. Jordyn has also prepared for this merely by desiring it for so long. It has been her goal since she came to Hogwarts to be Head Girl and has done everything in her power to achieve that position. Her illness was not something she could have helped and threw a rather devastating wrench into her plans (and the trajectory) of her Hogwarts career. She spent the larger half of her sixth year repairing any damages to her reputation and growing as a student (and a person), which is also crucial to being Head Girl. Toward the end of her sixth year, she took it upon herself to seek extra academic help to not only improve her performance on exams, but also to build, repair, or otherwise strengthen more relationships with professors. What Do You Think the Most Important Aspect of This Job Is:? Jordyn feels that being Head Girl is for a student who has proven that they deserve it: excelling in academics and setting a good example for others. She has done this in droves (in her opinion), and wants to make sure that others are doing the same. Legacy is important to her, and the idea that she can help others develop means that she will have impact on the future of the school even if she won't be there. She believes that some people have forgotten the true purpose of the position (to uphold the rules and be an example for others), which needs to be brought back to the ranks of prefect and Head Girl. A Head Girl must be organized and disciplined, since they are in charge of the prefects. In the past, Head Boys and Girls have organized events for prefects and helped them grow into their leadership positions (Waker Nolan provided this for Jordyn in her fifth year), and that is something Jordyn is very interested in making a more prominent role of Head Girl, less so than giving punishments or patrolling (not that those things would be forgotten or neglected). She wishes to represent Hogwarts at its best and be a force in making plans and decisions for students. At the heart of it, Jordyn really wants to be a positive model for other students and provide a quality group of prefects with a schedule that will accommodate academics with the social needs of students and the school. Tell a Story From Your Past That Has Proven Your Mettle: Jordyn served as prefect for a year and a half, during which time she upheld the rules and developed as a stronger leader. Example of this include when the Triwizard Tournament started and Jordyn served as an ambassador for the school with students, including Séraphin Olivier, whom she provided a tour and a line for information and questions in the school. Jordyn also managed issues like inappropriate activities (Figaro Sellaphix in the girl's bathroom) with dignity and speed. She is also a dedicated student, and despite not being a Prefect, still intervenes in situations where other students are not behaving in a dignified manner. Her character is strong and her convictions even stronger. She is thoughtful and makes choices that will benefit her – and others in the long run. Jordyn barely breaks rules, and when she does, it is usually out of the goodness of her heart (or by mistake). Jordyn does not let mistakes define her, however, and she seeks to mend relationships and prove her worth even after she has messed up. This is not only a testament to her character, but also to her dedication to her goal. She has wanted this honor for a very long time and hopes that it will be granted to her in the upcoming school year. Skip to next post

Skip to next post
Re: Jordyn S. I wish to impart those feelings to the rest of the student body.” Skip to next post

Title Request: Jordyn Dimbleby, Head Girl Reply #3 on December 26, 2014, 01:42:36 PM Special Title RequestApproved! - CuratorsCharacter Name: Jordyn DimblebyTitle Applying For: Head Girl Character Biography: http://absitomen.com/index.php?topic=609What Experience has Prepared You For This Honor?: Jordyn was a prefect for two and a half years.
