He is a lanky creature, making up in height what he lacks in muscle. His willowy form is always decked in a quirky mesh of clothing that gives the boy the appearance of having just stumbled out of a muggle music video (only slightly lazier). His face is equally trim, comprising mostly of icy, feminine features that make him look slightly meaner than he is-- which is comical, for anyone who knows him.Fair skin, honey-colored hair, and washed-out eyes immediately betray the boy's mother's northern-European roots. Miles' stare, which mirrors his mum's, has a wolfish quality about it; his cheeks and heavy eyebrows are equally scathing. Even before puberty, Miles never possessed those plump, pleasantly boyish cheeks that so many of his playground peers donned. The only bits of Miles' face which are not inherently knifelike or strongly chiseled are his lips, which happen to also be the only feature inherited from his father Oran.Miles could personally do without his nose, which he feels is neither well-defined nor overly prominent. It's sort of just there, obstructing the rest of his features. He also believes that his dimpled chin could stand to be a little more masculine, to balance out his otherwise androgynous features, but on the whole, he is pleased with his appearance and doesn't worry about it much outside of how he dresses himself. He doesn't seem to notice those pesky under-eye circles that other students always attempt to cover around exam time, nor his slightly big ears.Personality Description:Miles rarely ever shows genuine outrage, despite being reasonably passionate about many things. He is quiet and peaceful on the surface, preferring to take his time when explaining himself or when soaking up the words of others. The boy may come off as sort of spacey, and even flaky at times, but he is generally a wise decision-maker because he doesn't rush and doesn't fight his own intuition. Miles collects knowledge at his own pace and uses it at crucial moments.Miles' laid-back pace and less-than-discernible delivery might be well-suited to him, but some people find it grating or confusing. The world in Miles' head is a lot more logical than the actual world-- to Miles. While he can separate reality from fiction just fine, he tends to prefer a life based on ideology rather than stark fact. Many of his ideas or desires are either unattainable or simply not compatible with his environment. It is unsurprising that Miles prefers the sort of friendships he can count on one hand and keep for life. For those who know him well, he is a pleasant (if sometimes sluggish) conversationalist who sincerely enjoys listening to what his friends have to bring to the table. He will stick with his comrades through thick and thin, and would never dream of treading over their toes to seek an advantage. His streak of loyalty is also apparent when he speaks of his hometown, his mother, or his siblings.Miles likes to experiment with his lifestyle as often as he likes to change his pants: while he is a creature habit about certain things, he generally loves to adopt new hobbies, trends, heroes, and points of view, particularly if they are slightly obscure to his peers. He has a heart that's in the right place, but it's sometimes much easier for the boy to say things than it is to get around to actually doing them. He can get a little bit ahead of himself at times. Like most people his age, he's better at talking the talk than walking the walk. But once Miles actually does commit to something, he puts his all into it, in true hardworking Hufflepuff style. Even a laid-back persona and a few extraordinarily lazy habits don't stop Miles from putting friends before himself. He takes pleasure in providing a helping hand, whether he's preventing a potential fight or cheering up a weeping second year.Miles is pretty good at attending all of his classes and arriving in the nick of time, but he will take any spare moment between lessons to lay back and close his eyes. He walks a thin line between being one of those annoying last-minute-homework-scribblers who somehow manages to pass with mostly decent marks, and being someone who is eager to dive into an essay. It really depends on the subject matter and assignment. Miles likes to read, especially things that are new and "exotic", but he tends to work more enthusiastically in a pair, bouncing facts, ideas, and analysis off of friends, than he does while sitting by his lonesome in the library. His textbooks and folders are a little less organized than he would like be able to claim, and he is better at decorating them with inky games of tic-tac-toe than keeping all of the pages pressed together.Despite coming from a family of Irish Pureblood wizards, Miles is extremely adamant about supporting and accepting people of all backgrounds. He is very interested in muggle culture, thanks to his dear friend Lola. In the summers, he has been known to haunt muggle hangouts, observing the typical Dublin teenagers in all of their glory. His other quirky habits include laughing at things which aren't remotely funny, speaking slowly, tell people to "calm down" in any number of phrases, and leaving secret messages on slips of parchment in random locations around his home or school-- like fortune cookies. Miles is not fond of Pureblood elitists, school uniforms, professors who never break the rules, or large bodies of water (he cannot swim).History:Miles was born in Dublin on February third, the baby of the family and the only boy. His first and only home was a very comfortable and expansive apartment in the center of Ireland's capital, and while his family is by no means the wealthiest Pureblood family in the land, the Faradays have rarely wanted for anything. Their magically enhanced flat has allowed Miles and his sisters to each have the privacy of their own bedroom from the start.Miles quickly became the target of his mother Glenna's doting. By age two, when the boy could finally legitimately sink his tiny teeth into just about anything, most of ma's time in the kitchen was devoted to her son. In his early years, the boy was rarely seen without homemade sweets clutched in his tiny fists or peeking out from his trouser pockets. And in addition to Mrs. Faraday's abundance of attention, not one, but two proud and generous grandmothers also bestowed their love.By age five, Miles becomes a tag-along to his older sister Trine. The girl taught him the ropes of city life and became a confidant for her younger brother. They spent their free time exploring the depths of Dublin and becoming miniature city-slickers, for lack of a better word. This provided perhaps a dire lesson in living among muggles, and fearing people who were not inherently like himself never became a problem for Miles. In fact, with Trine's encouragement, the child became very interested in anything or anyone exceedingly different from what he knew as "normal".By age seven, it was not uncommon for Miles to go several days without a glimpse of his father. Oran, a longtime workaholic, tended to subscribe to the school of "there's no such thing as too much success". Unlike the other wizarding boys in his neighborhood, whose fathers encouraged them to play Quidditch, Miles did not learn to fly before his time at Hogwarts, and had very little male coaching in general. He has thus never really appreciated "leaving the solid ground"-- although the offbeat idea of flying carpets sounds sort of fun in a psychedelic way. Miles is actually much more wary of lakes, rivers, and oceans than the open sky. While there are fleeting moments during which the boy wishes he were able to spend more time with his father, he does not regret how his childhood played out. The overwhelming level of estrogen in his early life has helped Miles to stay out of trouble with his female classmates at Hogwarts. While girls don't fail to baffle him on a regular basis, they usually don't try to attack him with their talons, either... which is more than many a teenage boy can say. Thanks to Ma and sisters, Miles is a touch more thoughtful and sensitive than the average bear, if also a bit quieter and decidedly stoner-esque.Trine left for Hogwarts with their older sister Elva when Miles was nine. During this stretch of time without his favorite sibling around to entertain him and confide in him, Miles learned instead to seek companionship in things like books and nature. By the time he reunited with Trine, he had become much more mellow and independent, but still exceptionally loyal. In his first year at Hogwarts , Miles met fellow Hufflepuff Lola Ingberg. The two have since become best friends, with similar interests and outlooks. Miles credits Lola for sparking his interest in and compassion for certain social movements which he might otherwise have overlooked (...accidentally, of course.). Miles' academic experience has been decidedly positive, too. From first year until present, he has always passed most of his subject without struggle, despite bouts of laziness and sidetracking. Miles has always genuinely enjoyed history lessons and other writing-intensive or interpretive lessons. He is also skilled in Transfiguration and Arithmancy. However, his potions work has proved consistently dismal, and his grasp of darker subject matter has been mediocre at best. Since discovering a group of prejudice wizard personalities in his neighborhood at a very young age, Miles has avoided what he calls "shady" branches magic. The wounds of the Battle of Hogwarts was still a bit too fresh, and Miles has the (sometimes too hasty) habit of associating dark magic with anit-muggle or anti-muggleborn magic. He has enthusiastically joined all of Lola's extracurricular efforts for further social change. How Do You Fit Into Your House?:Despite several lazy habits, Miles is very passionate when it comes to doing the right thing and doing it well. He works hard at things which are important to him (though they are not usually of the academic persuasion), and he is rigidly loyal to the people he loves. He tends to value honesty and integrity over intelligence and ambition, even though he also admires people who are exceedingly smart.Writing Sample:Miles could barely understand what Lola was saying with her glorious faux-vampire teeth (they were probably even environmentally and muggle friendly, because the girl was simply that amazing), but it hardly mattered. He was just happy to see her again. Though sleep was always a favorite activity for the boy, he seemed to do much more of it than was healthy during his summer and winter holidays, when he wasn't spending everyday with his best friend. Occasionally Miles felt a little bit useless and almost like a hibernating bear. But Lola had come to his rescue now."Adopt you because you are an adorable vampire who eats sugar and not blood," he explained, after pausing to interpret her mangled question. The next bit of speech was completely lost on him. Miles blinked and rubbed a sleepy eye. At that moment, he looked sort of unintentionally like one of those harmless stoners in the park. His smile was still calm and friendly, but there was also a little uncertainty in his expression and his answer came lethargically. "What? I can't understand you with those things." He mirrored her chomping with his own fangless teeth and winked. "I ruv," he corrected, mimicking the bit he'd understood. Being alone in his room with Lola should have made Miles nervous, but instead he was relieved. Mostly because his mother couldn't spy on them, his sisters couldn't giggle, and he had Lola all to himself. "My natural habitat is not nearly as interesting as I am," he lamented without much real sadness in his tone. He spread his hands to gestured vaguely around the room. "My humble abode. Isn't that what they call it?" He rather did like his space, though. In addition to the small, haphazard piles of belongings and collected treasures, there was a collage of newspaper clippings, wizarding photographs, and saved doodles (mostly bits of parchment Miles had scribbled on discreetly with Lola between classes or at lunchtime) stuck to the wall above a handsome desk that his grandfather had made (and which Miles' sister had abstractly painted in random places with hues of charcoal much to their father's dismay). He crawled closer to the bed to accept the gift, laughing as Lola accidentally gave him her own pair of teeth. "Better than blood brothers. We're saliva soulmates." He wiped his hands nonchalantly on his trousers and popped the dry pair of toy vampire fangs into his mouth. "Do you fink they will off-uh us bloody-marys if we find some real ones late-uh?" He pulled out the teeth and proceeded to make them chomp, up, down, up, down, up, down with his fingers. They were really quite glorious. How did Lola think of this stuff? It was part of why he adored her. She was never boring or whiny like other girls. She thought vampires were interesting as opposed to frightening. "I would be honored to be a Deceased Vampire Miracle Cookie, especially if I tasted that good. What sort would you be? Maybe white chocolate macadamia Lolas with neon sprinkles because those are the best. But if you didn't burn to dust, I probably won't. We're too alike," he confided confidently. He lifted his own palm toward the window and shrugged in a 'no worries' sort of way.In front of the mirror, Miles pocketed the vampire teeth with the tape. "A gentleman and a Little Women. Woman," he corrected himself. It was a slip of the tongue. He had read about ten pages of a muggle book of the same name before deciding it was written exclusively for the female population of the world. The title even said so. Miles loved all of the women in his life-- Ma, Elva, Trine, and Lola among them-- but goodness, some of their literature was frightening. Progressive and 'different' as Miles expressed himself to be, he was still a typical boy where it counted. "Let's get out of here before she shaves any of us," he decided, laughing with the girl. He peeked out of the bedroom to make sure that the coast was clear, and then tugged Lola back through the hallway and out of the apartment.Once downstairs, Miles stretched properly for the first time that day and smiled down at Lola. He really hadn't stopped smiling since her arrival. "Where to and what can I carry?"Sum up your character in one paragraph:Miles is a boy who means well, but whose idealistic way of thinking and lackadaisical delivery occasionally leave him lost in translation. Even so, he is quite harmless-- he is a calm person who is easy to get along with, and easy enough to understand for those who spend enough time in his presence. Despite a sleepiness to his personality, Miles is a genuine Hufflepuff. He is a hundred percent devoted to helping people, and to working earnestly for causes in which he believes. The boy prefers to learn things that can't simply be pulled from a standard textbook, and absolutely adores discovering new and hidden sources of talent or entertainment. Fixed, air, yang - planetary rulers: Saturn and Uranus. Keywords: "I KNOW" Aquarius is the eleventh house of the Zodiac and rules the circulatory system, shins, and ankles. Positive traits include brilliance, innovation, individuality, openness, social consciousness, inventiveness, practical skill, and self assertion; negative traits are eccentricity, lack of attachment to people and the "real world," over-intellectualizing of the emotions, a crotchety temper, rigidity, intellectual arrogance, and stubbornness.HufflepuffAquarians who are sorted into House Hufflepuff are introverted, but not shy; march to the beat of a different drummer, but don't wear their weirdness like a flag; socially minded, but highly critical of society. Confused? So are the Hufflepuff Aquarians, but they tend to sort things out eventually. Their minds lean toward the practical side of things - they'd rather invent new and useful spells or gadgets than dwell for hours in hot air theory - and the solutions they find to common problems are brilliantly on target. They like people and want to get along well with everybody, but are uncomfortable with intimacy; so they have lots of acquaintances but few close friends. They have the ability to laugh at most any situation. __________________Aquarius About Your Sign...Aquarians basically possess strong and attractive personalities. They fall into two principle types: one shy, sensitive, gentle and patient; the other exuberant, lively and exhibitionist, sometimes hiding the considerable depths of their character under a cloak of frivolity. Both types are strong willed and forceful in their different ways and have strong convictions, though as they seek truth above all things, they are usually honest enough to change their opinions, however firmly held, if evidence comes to light which persuades them that they have been mistaken. They have a breadth of vision that brings diverse factors into a whole, and can see both sides of an argument without shilly-shallying as to which side to take. Consequently they are unprejudiced and tolerant of other points of view. This is because they can see the validity of the argument, even if they do not accept it themselves. They obey the Quaker exhortation to "Be open to truth, from whatever source it comes," and are prepared to learn from everyone. Both types are humane, frank, serious minded, genial, refined, sometimes ethereal, and idealistic, though this last quality is tempered with a sensible practicality. They are quick, active and persevering without being self-assertive, and express themselves with reason, moderation and sometimes, a dry humor. They are nearly always intelligent, concise, clear and logical. Many are strongly imaginative and psychically intuitive, so that the Age of Aquarius, which is about to begin, is much anticipated by psychic circles as an age in which mankind will experience a great spiritual awakening. The Aquarian philosophical and spiritual bent may be dangerous in that it can drive the subjects into an ivory-tower existence where they meditate on abstractions that bear little relevance to life. On the other hand it can help the many who have scientific leanings to combine these with the Aquarian yearning for the universal recognition of the brotherhood of man, and to embark on scientific research to fulfill their philanthropic ideals of benefiting mankind. When some cause or work of this nature inspires them, they are capable of such devotion to it that they may drive themselves to the point of exhaustion and even risk injuring their health. Both types need to retire from the world at times and to become temporary loners. They appreciate opportunities for meditation or, if they are religious, of retreats. Even in company they are fiercely independent, refusing to follow the crowd. They dislike interference by others, however helpfully intended, and will accept it only on their own terms. Normally they have good taste in drama, music and art, and are also gifted in the arts, especially drama. In spite of the often intensely magnetic, forthcoming and open personality of the more extrovert kind of Aquarian, and of their desire to help humanity, neither type makes friends easily. They sometimes appear to condescend to others and take too little trouble to cultivate the acquaintance of people who do not particularly appeal to them. They do not give themselves easily - perhaps their judgment of human nature is too good for that - and are sometimes accounted cold. But once they decide that someone is worthy of their friendship or love, they can exert an almost hypnotic and irresistible mental attraction on them and will themselves become tenacious friends or lovers, ready to sacrifice everything for their partners and be faithful to them for life. However, they are sometimes disappointed emotionally because their own high personal ideals cause them to demand more of others than is reasonable. And if they are deceived their anger is terrible. If disillusioned, they do not forgive.Aquarians work best in group projects, provided that they are recognized as having a leading part in them. They have a feeling of unity with nature and a desire for knowledge and truth that makes them admirable scientists, especially astronomers and natural historians. They may excel in photography, radiography, electronics - anything connected with the electrical and radio industries - aviation and everything technical. On the arts and humanities side their progressive tendencies can be expressed in writing, especially poetry, and broadcasting, or as welfare workers and teachers. Some have gifts as entertainers and make good character actors (having an ability to mimic) and musicians. The more psychic among them possess healing gifts, especially in curing the mentally sick.Among the faults to which they are liable are fanatical eccentricity, wayward egotism, excessive detachment and an inclination to retreat from life and society, and a tendency to be extremely dogmatic in their opinions. Aquarians can be a threat to all they survey or a great boon for humanity in general. Circumstances - for example, continuous opposition to a cause they hold dear - may cause the atrophy of the openness of mind that is one of the Aquarian's most attractive traits. They may express a lack of integrity in broken promises, secretiveness or cunning. Simmering anger and resentment, rudeness or, worse, a tense, threatening silence which may suddenly burst out in eruptions of extreme temper, these are all part of the negative side of the Aquarian. This can also reveal itself in a sustained hatred for enemies that is capable of enlarging itself into a misanthropy toward the whole of mankind. Skip to next post

Re: Miles Faraday: Sixth Year Hufflepuff Reply #6 on July 01, 2009, 02:06:08 AM zodiac, astrology, & birth charts__________________AQUARIUS(January 20 - February 18)the Water Bearer.
