Physical Description:
Both Maximilian's parents were tall so it came to no surprise that he'd grow up to be 6,0. He's also a bit lanky, given to the fact that he has a poor diet and hardly eats when he has work to do.  His hair is a bland brown cut slightly short and wavy while his eyes (the only striking feature about him) are a rich grayish-blue. Despite being tall and rather thin, Max also has a 'soft face' meaning he has very little facial hair. His features are sharp however such as his high cheek bones and thin mouth that gives him an aloof appearance.

Personality Description:

Max is not the type of person that you'd like to trust easily. He is cunning, swift, and sometimes a backstabber if the situation cause for it. He would not hesitate to step on anyone's toes if it can get him a level up the corporate ladder. And he'd do almost anything to get that. Despite his easy going appearance Max is very power driven and a compulsive liar. He understands that the things he do sometimes causes others to shun him but he has always been more concerned with the possibility of having no contacts nor money that has driven him almost obsessed with coming ahead of everyone else. Despite his flaws, Max can actually be a decent person when around someone who matters to him, proving that he can be an excellent listener and even superb with helping others with their problems, but he would never admit to having problems himself.

Max is a hard worker, although he can be a bit 'over aggressive' at times and because of this many would describe him as a work-a-holic. He is in no way an outgoing person, and instead prefers to spend his weekends alone with a cub of tea. Despite his flaws Maximilian can be a very nice but just person who is a great speaker. Although his hard mannerisms are justified in his eyes, to others, it's almost impossible for him to make friends. In all, Max is someone you'd come to if your in need of Quidditch facts, but not someone you'd go to in order to tell your feelings. 

History:

Born as the only child to Christopher (Pureblood) and Diana (Muggleborn) Maximilian learned early on that values meant very little if you didn't have power to back it up. Growing up in the quint Bristol area, around Muggles, Max barely knew anything about magic with both his mother and his father working as doctors in normal hospitals. He would recall his mother and father using strange terms such as 'Hogwarts' 'Ministry of Magic' and sometimes if he listened particularly hard he could hear the word 'Voldemort' used in quiet whispers in his parents study. Indeed, Maximilian knew very little of the Wizarding World and it would remain that way until a very strange and thick envelope arrived by morning post on a particularly hot Tuesday.

Max showed the letter to his parents and was surprised to see that they weren't confused, in fact they seemed rather relieved. He later discovered that his parents had once thought that he would be a Squib; or someone with magical parents but no magical blood themselves. Since he showed no early signs of having magical abilities. It was then, at that moment, when Maximilian discovered that he was indeed a wizard that his ambitious thirst first came to be. He was particularly in a rush to receive his wand (an object he'd seen his parents carry around a few times and had thought was only a stick.) And he was excited by the prospect of taking magical classes and going to an ancient castle.

It wasn't long after he received his letter and going to the magnificent Diagon Alley that Max found himself inside Hogwarts after a rather boring trip on the Hogwarts Express. When it was finally his turn to step up to the dingy object, the hat instantly called 'SLYTHERIN' the moment the hat was on his head. It had seemed as if the sorting hat was correct because he found himself doing excellent in the house of snakes. His grades were always in the top ranks and he discovered his natural talent in Potions and Charms (though rather dismal in Transfiguration.)  The Hogwarts years passed by in this same fashion for Max. Every summer he'd return home to his parents before returning to the castle and maintaining impressive grades. In his fifth year he managed six O.W.L's and in his seventh year seven N.E.W.T's. It was then, during his final year at Hogwarts, that Maximilian decided what career he wanted to pursue; Quidditch.

 The sport had always intrigued him even though he never played for his house team, and he knew the plays and rules pretty well. In that field of the Ministry he wouldn't have everyone hovering over him, he'd be able to make moves and take advancing steps. After Max graduated he used some of his family modest funds to buy out a flat in Hogsmeade and began searching for the right positional job for him. He knew working in the Ministry was a pretty safe bet if you wanted a bit of 'power' and sway over the Wizarding World. Politics seemed easy enough but it wasn't a high enough position.  At last, after many years of searching and taking a job as a intern and then later a regular worker in the Sports department. Max discovered the opening as head of the department, something that he had never thought about but now believed was perfect.

It took another year or two, but finally after many moves and even a couple of backstabbing steps later he was at the top of the department; exactly where he wanted and felt he belonged. And that's where he found himself to this very day.

Describe your job duties and how you go about them:
Being Head of the Department of Magical Games and Sports is not an easy task. With the position Max has to oversee all Professional Quidditch matches including: what security is needed, what brooms are required to play for that upcoming season, and who will oversee that particular game and call the correct shots etc. Not only that, but Max must also collaborate with foreign sports departments during upcoming Quidditch Cup matches and during 'away' games.

Max normally schedule and plan everything ahead of time to avoid last minute surprises. He multi-task so that he's able to look upon a certain game and consider each teams chances for a win, while still making sure a foreign delegate is 'comfortable' during his/her stay for the game. When it comes to the workers in his department he keeps an open mind (by always reminding them that his office door is open for discussions.) But also making sure that he gains respect from them.

Elaborate on your expertise in your field:
Maximilian may not be an outgoing person but he is excellent with speeches and listening to others. This helps him greatly because he does a lot of business with foreign people. Max can also speak up to four primary different languages and has a knack for reading people through body language. He can see when someone is nerves, angry, happy or sad around him and can use these feelings to his advantage. Max also knows 'his stuff' involving Quidditch and can easily spot 'foul plays' or weak players on a team. His 'no nonsense' attitude towards his work is what make others respect him as a leader of the department. But because of his easy going nature they also feel comfortable enough to voice their opinions about opportunities to make the department better and more efficient with him as their official 'voice'.

Writing Sample:

Maximilian brushed the soot from his uncomfortable casual robes as he entered the large, highly lit, Atrium of the Ministry. In his right hand Max carried a bundle of folders, each consisting of various teams and their scoring statistics so far throughout the year. So far he was feeling pretty confident with the Harpies. They were currently undefeated and that meant his betting abilities looked brighter than last year; where he had bet too many galleons on the Cannons. Fumbling with the sleeves of his robes, Max sighed in disdain before reaching the lifts where he was able to catch one barely alone; except an old witch with a covered cage in her hands. Maximilian merely smiled with what could only be a failed attempt at politeness as he lounged back against the lift's walls and waited as the thing ascended the floors.

'Level Seven: Magical Games and Sports.'

The mechanical voice of a woman announced as the doors opened to reveal the floor leading to his office. Max clung to the folders tighter as he walked through the hallway, passing various other offices on his way until finally he reached room 331 or what was in no other words; a bad excuse of an office space. Sighing for the umpteenth time that day, Max threw the folders unceremoniously on his desk before flopping down into the comfortable chair.

He knew today would be a very long day indeed.

Sum up your character in one paragraph:
Max is egotistic and impatient. He is conniving, inconsiderate and sometimes ruthless if he wants something. He's also strange and mysterious though it wouldn't be hard to get to know him (but very hard to be his friend.) Max is untrustworthy yet very loyal if the situation cause for it. He has never played Quidditch before yet he knows the game well (if not better) than those who has played their entire life. In all Maximilian is complex if a bit ambitious; a Slytherin through and through.
