here.
Kiva:
*answers the phone, sounding quite chipper and completely unsuspecting* I didn't expect to hear from you so soon; is Adon late?
Jonas:
*speaking very quickly, with a light West Country accent* Ah, no, incredibly, he managed to make it on time. Akiva, yeah? I'm Jonas Trevelyan. I've been working with Adon and Dreogan on the Runespoor case? It's all been a bit under the table; I don't know if he's mentioned me.
Kiva:
*Immediately anxious about not hearing Dree's voice, frowns and leans against the counter, rubbing the bottom half of her face before starting to speak in a somewhat nervous voice* He... I don't think he's... said anything about it... Did he forget something here? I could drop it off...?
Jonas: No, no. Look, everything's fine, Dreogan's all right, we've got it all under control. He and Houdini and I were all supposed to meet for lunch today, but he showed up late and he was acting funny. He's not hurt, but I reckon he might've been enchanted somehow. Adon's with him now, and everything's under control, but he thought that Dreogan had come straight from the flat, so I wanted to ring you quick to make sure that you were alright.
Kiva: Can I talk to him? What do you mean he was acting funny and he's not hurt?
*losing composure, basically by the word* What kind of enchantment? Should I... should I leave? Go there? Do you need anything? Does he need anything?
Jonas:
*takes a deep breath* No, he's fine. I promise. And as soon as we get this sorted, I'll have him ring you straight off, yeah? Just breathe. You can help out the most by answering a question or two for me. When was the last time you saw 'im this morning?
Kiva:
*clearly scared and off-put by this whole thing, can almost hear the tears in her voice, but takes a deep breath and nods on the other end - rubbing her temple to give the correct answer* Um... oh... probably breakfast... it was earlier though, then he went upstairs...
Jonas: Alright. That's good. That's helpful.
*there's a slight jingling of keys, and his voice become slightly muffled as he attempts to sandwich the phone between his ear and his shoulder in order to unlock the door to his car* Anything strike you as odd then? Anything at all this morning?
Kiva:
*is quiet for a few moments, thinking back, trying to come up with something. Her mouth opens and shuts a few times, thinking of nothing, but fishing for anything that might be of use* He didn't say much... He was upstairs for a long time and then he came downstairs... he was stiff though... I figured he was just tired...
*pauses again, still trying to come through on something better than that* I didn't notice.
*the sound of sniffles can clearly be picked up on the other end, feeling a sense of failure to notice a problem, but really trying to keep it together*Jonas:
*a car door is opened, followed by the sound of him climbing inside* Alright, Akiva. Thanks. Knowing that much is helpful.
*the door slams shut, and there's another jingle of keys as they find the ignition* Did you hear him leave at all? You know what time he headed over here?
Kiva:
*takes another few deep breaths* I saw him leave... he didn't seem that off... It was probably a few minutes past eleven. He seemed a bit rushed, you know, late... he's never really late though... I should have known something was wrong.
*A small sound of frustration coming from her throat is heard over the phone and she leans against the wall again* He just... walked out of the house...
Jonas:
*pauses for a moment, and then continues thoughtfully after a beat* Alright. You still at the house now, then? You comfortable with apparating?
Kiva:
*tense moment of anxiety about the silence and takes a gulp* Yea. I think so... I will. Where do I go?
Jonas:
*pauses for a beat again, and then audibly makes an effort to sound more reassuring* Nowhere, for now. But if you hear anything funny, get any sort of bad feeling, then you apparate straight to the Ministry, yeah? Find Tamis Raynor or Archer Radley on Level Two in the Auror office. You know either of them?
Kiva:
*long moment of silence.* You're making me nervous, J-Jonas, right? Is there something I should know? You're not telling me something. What do Tamis or Archer have to do with this?
Jonas:
*speaking very quickly again* No, no, look. I used to work at the Ministry a few years ago. Tam's an old friend, and Archer used to be me partner way back when. I trust 'em, yeah? This investigation's been under wraps, and we need to keep it that way, keep anything from getting out. Right now, we jumped on all this quick enough that I think we've got an edge, but if something goes wrong and word spreads, we'll lose the case that Dreogan and Adon have been building. So those two are the only ones you talk to, got it?
Kiva: I... well... okay...
*completely unsure whether or not to believe him, having never met him before or knowing much about him, except for the Level 2 name drops, gulps and shakes her head, trying to reassure herself and see the best, clearing her throat* Can I talk to him,
please?Jonas:
*quick, impatient outtake of breath, followed by a car engine starting* Yeah, as soon as he can. He's with Adon right now. I'm heading over now to pick them up. But I need you to do me a favor in the meantime, Akiva, alright?
Kiva:
*confused, but figures if it'll get her to be able to talk to him, nods vigorously. She drops the phone by accident and curses - uncharacteristic - and picks it up, and sighs* Sorry, sorry, sorry. I just... yea, I can do something... what do I need to do?
Jonas:
*obviously trying to sound patient, as there's the sound of his car pulling out from the curb* Soon as we get off the phone, I need you to sit down and write out everything that you remember from this conversation, yeah? Beginning to end as best you can. Then I need you to make a list of anyone you can think of that might've interacted with Dreogan in the past few days. That's going to be a big help for him. You reckon you can do that?
Kiva:
*nods and rifles through a drawer to find some paper and a writing utensil, indicating on the top - with the hasty scratching of the pen against the pad, the purpose of the paper and the startings of her thoughts* Yes, I can do that... of course. It shouldn't be so hard
*Remembering a large quantity of guests in recent days, grimaces a little* I'll get it done.Jonas: Thanks. That's a big help, it is. Look, I've got to go, but Dreogan or Adon'll call you back soon as we can. It might be a bit, so don't worry if you don't hear right away. Everything's fine for now, and I reckon it'll turn out alright. If an hour goes by and we don't ring you, then take everything you've written down to Raynor. And get to the Ministry right quick if you hear anything funny, yeah?
Kiva:
*nods with some weak affirmations in the form of uh-huhs, the sound of fidgeting and pacing along a hard floor can be heard over the line.* Alright... I'll make sure it's all done, but please try not to wait too long to get in touch with me. I'll be waiting.
Jonas:
*sounding slightly distracted, as the regular click of a turn signal can be heard in the background* I'll do me best. And the next time, we'll make a proper introduction. Cheers, then.
*The phone clicks, followed by the sound of a dial tone.*
