A couple of weeks ago, I PMed all of our Press-y sorts: reporters, journalists, editors, photographers. -waves at our new Daily Prophet researcher- It would have been relevant to you, too! I am not sure how common knowledge it is yet, but the Aurors found Kyle Gibson's body and are deducing that he was magically murdered. Not long before these two threads, Edward Pratt discovered and was able to prove Kyle Gibson was innocent.

So now the Ministry knows that not only was the seventeen year old boy they have been chasing for more than six months dead, but that he was innocent and likely murdered by the same person that framed him in order to cover their tracks. By the looks of things, he had been dead for sometime, sent to the bottom of the Ocean, which is why the Aurors were having such a hard time finding him.

As you can guess, this is not going to look very good for the Ministry or Level Two specifically. It is down right humiliating and if the Prophet folks are given free reign with it (particularly the likes of Rita Skeeter  ) it could be a downright disaster. Tamis Raynor's very political and democratic solution? She is going to call a Press Conference where she not only explains Kyle Gibson's demise but for the first time ever publicly admits that the Aurors suspect that there is a larger, criminal movement behind the events since May. Was the WBA responsible for the Remembering Day Murders? Nope. But they getting the blame. lol.

I got a pretty positive response from some of the folks mentioned above that I PMed. But I wanted to see if other characters would be interested in this event? I know I got a PM about maybe making it available to students if it was a Conference open to the Public. So would having it on January 3rd (the Saturday before the return of Term) work for most people? Or should we make it later due to plot conflictions?

So for a few different reasons, this never really got its feet under it. Since I still think it is a necessary measure from the Ministry to the people, I'm still interested in doing this, but since the time-line has moved on a bit thinking that for the sake of sanity and not rushing a thread to work out the details here and then write a DP article that summarizes what happened at the Conference. I am willing to write that, but if there is a character that is drooling over the being able to slap their name at the top of a claim to fame news coverage like that, I will happily pass the reins on that too, lol. No doubt you could do a better job of it.

Basically, Tamis had a number of goals in mind for the Press Conference that she was bound and determined to get across, those being:

• Inform the public of Kyle Gibson's innocent and of his death.
• Stress the fact that they had every reason to suspect Gibson as a Prime Suspect and point out that when the boy ran, the Aurors had little option but to pursue.
• Assure the public that the investigation of the Remembering Day Murders is ongoing and a top priority and there a number of new leads and suspects that the Ministry is pursuing.
  
• Divulge that the Aurors have found significant evidence to suggest that there might be a radical terrorist group behind both the Remembering Day Murders and Gawain Robards Murder and that the public had not yet been informed until now as the investigation had been in its preliminary stages and they did not want to unnecessarily cause alarm.
• In a very Tamish way (meaning concisely and bluntly and very confidently) she would probably attempt to reassure the Public that the Aurors and Level Two as a whole are doing their best to protect Wizarding England, and that division between the people and the government is what has lead to the success of  malicious groups in the past.

Those are her objectives, lol. How successful she was at them depends on what actually happened. I am sure there were lots of negative accusations and shouting and claims of repeating of the past with witholding information and all that good stuff. So I think what we need to know is:

Date of Conference: Maybe move it to the 9th or 10th? I don't want to have it later than the 12th. Which is why I am trying to work it out this way.

Where: Minstry Atrium seems most likely. Its a large open space easily accessible by wizards all over the UK. Other suggestions.

It might help to maybe ask IC questions and do a Q & A session? Or just work out the dialogue? Pretty open to how we figure this out. lol. All ideas welcome.

Niobe Thursby, Daily Prophet!  Madam Raynor does Level Two accept any responsibility in the death of Kyle Gibson? You say he's been framed - is there any information as to why he was framed or how? If it wasn't Gibson then who was it?

*waves* Hmm I''m trying to think of what benefit Torquil would provide to be there, other than picking up on things to start snooping into. I could see him throwing in a few other questions as well. The Kyle Kibson plots isn't one of the ones I've been terribly great on keeping up with and reading.

That date sounds good to me though. I also like the idea of students being able to attend.
