[January 10th] About Last Night [Jasper]

on August 31, 2010, 06:15:17 PM

Thump, thump, thump. There was a pounding in her head. Thump thump, thump. She could not bring herself to move as every little nerve ending vibrated with the pounding in her head. Merlin it had been worth it though. The details of the night were a little hazy - she couldn’t remember exactly how she had ended up back in her apartment - she was fairly sure that’s where she was, the pillow under her head felt familiar. She was also not exactly sure who she might have brought home with her. The bed space beside her was vacant - she managed to move her arm enough to check. It was also cold which meant that had it ever had an occupant they were long gone. The likelihood of that though was fairly slim, as she felt the familiar material of a sequined dress still hugging her body when she tucked her arm back under the covers. If she was still dressed then…she might have actually come home alone. Merlin! Who had she been with last night?

She could remember wine, lots of wine - and for Dolly a wine drunk was very different from any other kind of drunk. Her mind just floated away. She tried to picture the face of the last person she had seen - was it Jasper? No, if it was Jasper she would not still be in her dress. She would have made sure of that. Likewise it wouldn’t have been Oz, Jax, or Melanthe - well if she and Mel had passed out together it was a slight possibility she would still be in her dress, but the other half of the bed wouldn’t be empty. Mel never stepped out of bed before noon if she could help herself. Thump, thump, thump. There it was again. When had the pounding between her ears progressed to an audible level? She really had ot get that checked. Or lay off the sauce. Or…neither. Thump, thump, thump. Pressing the back of her hand to her eyes she thought about possibly trying to sit up… but that seemed like a fairly stupid idea as she tried to lift her head. Not. Happening.

Thump, thump, thump. The fifth set of thumps jarred her brain enough to realize it was not actually inside her head. No. It was an actual sound coming from the other side of her door. So she had brought someone home with her. Why in bloody hell were they knocking? Any sane person who had witness the copious amounts of wine she was sure she had ingested would know her eyeballs wanted to fall out of her head at the thought of opening them. Groaning she tried to force her leg to move from under the covers to the floor…was she still wearing her shoes?! She thought of crawling to the door but that seemed most undignified - so she forced herself up on shaky legs and made her way toward the door. She had to hold her head to keep it from falling off and rolling away as she stumbled the few feet to the door. She realized, only after opening the door, there was a pair of bunny ears now cockeyed on her head. Lovely.

Thump, thump, thump.

Jasper knocked on the front door of Dolly’s flat.  He had convinced her to model for him and the prospect had certainly excited him.  His supplies were carefully tucked away inside his portable easel which he held at his side as he waited for a response, which didn’t come.  He knocked again, not hearing any movement inside the flat.  Checking his watch he knew he had the right time, and he gave another set of three knocks a moment later.

“Dolly?” he called at the door still not hearing anything that resembled movement from within.  “It’s Jasper…are you alive in there?”

Reaching out he tried the door, which opened and he wasn’t sure if he should be relieved or not.  Setting his supplies down, he looked around the flat not really seeing or hearing any signs of life near the sitting area.  “Dolly?” he called out again.  “Hello?”  Looking around his eyes fell on the door that if he remembered correctly led to the master bedroom.  Crossing to it he decided it would be the next logical place to try and he raised his hand to knock again.

He thought he heard a faint rustling within and raised his hand to knock a fifth time.  It was after that when the sound of movement within was obvious.  Was she stumbling?  He wasn’t sure, but knowing Dolly she was likely still in bed recovering from whatever had happened the evening before.  The door to the bedroom open and he took in the sight of her, a sympathetic smirk forming on his lips as he took a step back and tucked his hands into his coat pockets.  The bunny ears were really a nice touch.

“I am going to venture a guess that you had an interesting evening, darling,” he said, reaching out to straighten the bunny ears.  “Would you like to postpone our little date this afternoon?  I will forgive you if you promise to wear those when you pose for me.”

Jasper? Bugger! Was that today? She really needed a personal assistant to keep straight all of her engagements. Giving him a vague smile, her eyes following his hand as it moved to straighten the bunny ears she laughed, “I am sure there is a very reasonable explanation as to why I am dressed like a bunny - but I have always felt your imagination was at least mildly more entertaining than my reality,” brushing her hair over one shoulder she leaned forward and kissed either of his cheeks, hand resting against his chest to steady herself. She was still very wobbly on her legs, it felt rather like getting back to land after having your sea legs for quite some time.

She hoped she only looked half as wretched as she felt. She was not accustomed to taking visitors in her bedroom at this stage in her hangover. In fact the only man who had ever been allowed to see her in such awful shape besides Dominik was Elliot. She had an image to maintain. She was the life of the party, going till all hours of the night only to resurface the next morning looking well rested and amused. That was her main goal in life, to never let anyone see her at less than her best - especially anyone she had pans to sleep with at some point.

Still, she had promised him and Dolly never broke a date with a gorgeous man. Shaking her head - which caused her to wince and suck in a sharp breath she gave a soft laugh, “Merlin, I don’t know what I was thinking,” she paused peering at him, “Did I see you last night? I’ve absolutely no idea how I made it home…or why I’m still in my shoes,” she laughed again, covering her face with one hand resting her forehead against his shoulder, “I never break a promise Darling. Though maybe,” she pulled back to look at him, a little sparkle coming back to her eyes as she fingers the lapel of his jacket, “if we had a bit of a lie in, I might not look so wretched”.
