Girl Troubles! (Arianna)

on August 30, 2010, 04:15:05 PM

Percival Archibald Dervish was pacing outside of the counselor's office.  How long had he been pacing?  How many times had he gazed up at that door with a mix of emotions?  Would the counselor be able to help him?  Would the counselor laugh at him?  Would Percy be exposed to more ridicule?  With all the trepidation that he'd been feeling around the opposite sex...Percy realized that he needed help.  Professional help.

Surely this was the best bet?  Percy knocked meekly on the door and awaited a reply, as was polite.  He would not want to barge in and invade Arianna's privacy.

School was back and Anna was settling back into a regular schedule.  It was a good escape now more then ever.  With Moira missing her aunt and uncle were in a constant state of panic, and she could only do so much to reassure them that the Ministry would find her cousin.   She was throwing herself into her work now more then ever her goal to avoid her personal complications as much as humanly possible.

Looking at the clock she wondered if something was keeping her next appointment.  She tended not to be too quick to be irritated by a lack of promptness on the first appointment.  There was a certain level of understanding in her mind that these sort of things could be rather frightening the first go round.

A knock at the door brought her attention from the notes she was writing towards the entrance to her office.  Setting the quill down, she tucked her blonde hair behind her ear.  A moment later she called out, “Come in.”

How long had he been lingering outside of her office?  Percy was always prompt, if not early.  It was actually something he'd need to learn to work on...as promptness was often not seen as courteousness, but neediness.  Social connotations often made little sense, especially to Percy.

And now...he was admitted into the office.  Percy was timid as he entered, but upon being seen...he tried to straighten up and act casual and nonchalant.  This was no big deal.  He wasn't in any real trouble.  He didn't really *need* help.  Right?

"Hello Ms.Wickwood."

Percy offered a friendly handshake, but...realized that being this respectful was...kind of nerdy.  So...he dialed it back a bit.

"Hey..."

Oh the awkwardness of teenage years.  Anna always found herself somewhat thankful to be past that point of her life.  Of course that didn’t mean being an adult was really any easier.  There were times now she still felt like a teenage girl, floundering a bit without much of a clue.  However, it was easier to make it appear as if that was not the case in the slightest.

“Hello, Mr. Dervish,” she said, trying not to smirk a little in amusement at his greeting.  “Please have a seat.”

She motioned to one of the two stuffed chairs on the side of the desk opposite her.  She tried to make the office as cozy and comfortable as possible, hoping it would help the students feel more at ease.  Whether or not that was actually the case was still a bit of a mystery to her.

“Would you care for some tea or perhaps pumpkin juice?”

Percy was trying to reassure himself mentally throughout the interaction...even though it had only just begun.  She called him "Mr.Dervish" and though many authority figures at the school had done so, it somehow reassured him and made him more comfortable than being called "Percy."  Of course...choosing between Percival and Dervish was no wonderful treat.  Not to mention Archibald.  Poor Percy!

"Thank you."

It was at this point that Percy moved toward the chairs and looked between the two.  They seemed identical, but he was curious which of the two would make him more comfortable and give him a more relaxed position.  He lingered longer than one should before choosing a seat, but then simply sat in the nearest chair.  That looked relaxed, right?  However...he did take a little while instead of just naturally sitting down without caring either way about which chair to sit in.  Maybe he could redeem himself by his response toward her offer of beverage.

"Whatever you're having's good."

That sounded chill, right?  It was going to be a lonnnnnnng meeting.
