    Wand: ---

Physical Description: Build/Body type: Standing at 6'3" (190 cm), Malcolm Blake is the tallest member in his clan with his father following him at a clean six feet. He is not one to truly brag but Malcolm happens to be the most muscular as he often works out or spends time to keep his stomach from producing a beer gut.

Hair color: Malcolm's hair is a dark, almost appears raven black, brunette hue.
    Eye color: Chocolate brown.

Skin color: It is has been said mutually among his relatives (and often being a joke even with himself) that Malcolm must have Grecian blood in him as he is olive skinned, which is a sharp contrast to the typical Irish skin color. He rarely goes white with the exception of the winter time when the tan seems to go lighter.

First Impression: Usually when one sees Malcolm Blake, they could mistake him for a Greek rather than an Irishman. Aside from that, a wolfwhistle from a girl could be easily heard as well as a crunching of knuckles from a man if Malcolm was to wink a lad's lass. It is apparent he has a streak about him that can be perceived as mischievous indeed.

Any odd/outstanding features?: A few scars from pub brawls (much to the annoyance of his family, Anneliese included) - he simply calls them 'victory wounds.'

Personality Description: Many will say that an Irishman has always a "pint in hand and a song in his heart" -- Malcolm Blake is just this very description and much more.

He is very passionate and loyal to those who remain on his good side or whom he deems acceptable to belong in this category. This would easily be his family (including Fauna's family too, surprisingly), his friends, acquaintances, and business associates. He treats them like pure gold unless they should show a reason for him to cut them down. Unfortunate for him in not being able to go to Hogwarts (but somehow transferred to his girls), Malc would easily have been a Hufflepuff for his resourcefulness. He is clever to find an alternative should there not be one to be immediately found as well as having quite the inventive streak within him.

It is safe to say though he is a better family man as he has learned from his failures in life, including leaving Catherine and that situation. Malcolm wishes to provide for Alfie & Addie a better example than what he did for Moira & Fauna, especially since the guilt of that as well as his own father being somewhat negligent in being there for him.

There is always, of course, the ugly side to a person and the first thing someone might notice about Malcolm is his fiery temper if they provoke him too long. After all, those scars on his hands aren't there just for show, right? He can grow suspicious of you if given cause and it branches for many reason, of which one comes from a teasing childhood because of his ability to be an excellent painter (he was often called a 'poof' because of it). He has a jealous streak within him too -- ignore him too long and like a puppy, he'll pee on your leg. Not literally, but you get the picture, right? He can be manipulative towards enemies and frenemies alike so it's best to stay on his good side.

The greatest regret on his shoulders is without a doubt him leaving Moira & Fauna alone without a father. The guilt, by itself, gnaws at him to no end. Add to it hearing Addie talk about Fauna for all seven years at Hogwarts really reopens the wound. He hopes to fix that soon enough.

History: The day Malcolm Blake came into this world, he came out kicking and screaming. His mother was an actress, his father a scientist for the British Isles. He was dubbed with an Irish name (his was Collins, named after Michael Collins, the patriot) that was meant for Irish honor – his father, James, would do this with each child of his. Malcolm’s older brother, William “Frankie” Francis, was for William Blake (a slight deviation since William Blake was a favorite read of his father’s) but the Francis was to keep it Irish, then his other siblings endured it too: Gillian Joyce (for James Joyce) and Dougal Yeats (for William Butler Yeats). The two eldest were closer than that of sticks in mud – Malcolm adored Frankie as Frankie was his protector from those who would bully him and vice versa. It was clear even at this young of age that Frankie was interested in science while Malcolm was like his mother, a lover of fine arts. It was clear that Mary Frances was in cloud nine while James was more dismayed since he didn’t have two boys involved in science.

Little would the Blake family know that the world of wizardry would come knocking but it did when Frankie turned of age. Malcolm’s parents spilled forth a lie that Frankie was going to a prestigious science academy every year until he turned seventeen or eighteen. Frankie knew his end of the bargain (even as he sorted into Hufflepuff) would be difficult but even he couldn’t tell his brother about it. Malcolm bought the lie, but was still dismayed that he would lose his savior in daily life. The first few years were hard but Malcolm found solace in painting, even though often called a ‘poof’ by the local boys because their stance was who really painted anymore? However, his hard earned strife and work paid off when he was offered a scholarship to Trinity College in Dublin by the time he graduated from the local arts academy in his hometown.

Frankie had graduated from Hogwarts far before, working on a science degree at Trinity too but was willing take his baby brother to a four hour trip in Malcolm’s new black Ford Escort to Dublin. This move was well loved because the two reconnected as if time hadn’t cut them off. Malcolm studied art with a minor in journalism since he thought it would be a soft cushion to land upon should the art degree fail him completely. He was soon working in local pubs, making a mixture of friends (some of them were hardly what his parents wanted him to be around with, but Malcolm could have cared less as they helped ease him into a new life) and soon learning how to perform the guitar. His first ever performance in the Stag’s Head was playing The Rocky Road to Dublin & Black Velvet Band. It sold his future as he became a favorite by those who heard him, including a young lady named Catherine Blake (no relation, at that time at least). Malcolm’s introduction to Catherine produced a quick romance followed with even a quicker wedding – they were madly in love and well, his parents were proud at least he had found someone to marry if nothing else.

He became a father a few months later – he named her Moira and Malcolm was proud as a man could be. Jobs were hard to find for him, a lot harder than he thought it would be as it was evident that no one wanted a ‘bleeding painter’ nor a columnist who wanted to complain about he longed for old Irish glories. So he was often found in pubs, playing and paying bills that way – it was risky indeed as he was sometimes found in the jail the next morning for fist fighting an unruly patron who said Malcolm was truly to blame. Catherine was worried that this marriage could suffer if Malcolm didn’t buckle down so she asked Frankie to intervene and so, the older, dutiful brother attempted his best. Malcolm swore that he was trying his best but how could he try any harder if no one wanted him? The pep talk seemed to work as best it could as he finally found work in Dublin for a newspaper as a sports writer while finding out he was about to be a father all over again. The sports writing stint worked for a couple months after finding out and he was soon cut as his employers were looking for new, fresh faces. Malcolm took his family, packed them up and moved from Ireland to England, settling down in the outskirts of London. Here he would find trouble, innocent as it were, in an undercover Unspeakable working as a secretary at a local newspaper venue.

Needless to point out and spell it out, Malcolm committed a sin by engaging in the life of Anneliese Delacroix, causing eventual drama and grief for his family he already had. It certainly did not help in finding out ‘oh hey, Malc, dear? you're going to be a daddy’ being said from Anneliese. He had choices to make and he made what he thought was the right one. We know it wasn’t, but he was blinded by a forbidden love. His plan was executed soon: He divorced Catherine before Fauna was born, tried his best to explain to Moira what was going on (he succeeded so little) and lastly, wrote a letter to the unborn Fauna explaining all his troubles, but assuring her that he was deeply sorry to leave her behind in such a cruel, cruel world and that he would never stop loving her. Whether she would ever be allowed to read it, Malcolm would never know. The right thing in preventing a damned child was to marry Anneliese – her family would not allow it so easily as he was told should he back out on Anneliese as he had Catherine (they were on her side quite severely), they would more than just jinx him. Adelia Iris Delacroix was born only mere months after her sister, Fauna, and well, Malcolm swore he would do so much better and would not fail her as he had her other sisters. He didn’t – he worked earnestly and once again, moved his family to Portsmouth in a magical (with a few muggle families) community dubbed Monks Crescent. Of course, Malcolm was now happy and content – it only seemed to increase as he soon became a father to Alfred. Life could not be better – well, it was once Addie went to Hogwarts. The first mention of Fauna Blake sent a mixture of joy and despair in him – this continued until he revealed it to his daughter, swearing her to secrecy about it. Today, he finds himself prepared to reveal himself to Fauna and hopefully….mend the fences he so badly broke many years ago.

Describe your job duties and how you go about them: Freelance Artist: Hope its self-explained, however, if not, here we go! This is the one job that Malcolm is picky on since not everyone is begging daily for an artist to come and paint for him. It has had its benefits, mind you... He has painted murals for the fallen in the Second Wizarding War at the Ministry as well as various places in London.

Columnist: He studied journalism underneath that art degree -- it was a pain in the butt as he often could not find work after school but now he writes regularly on a column in the paper for Portsmouth. He hopes one day he could write an article for the Prophet -- on the matter, he loves Barnabas Cuffe & Niobe Thursby. Rita Skeeter? He's not too fond of (and that's the nice way of saying it - he really loathes her).

Musician: The stint works usually from weekend to weekend at Rufus Delacroix's London Irish Pub "Pigs Can't Fly" -- Anneliese at first was hesitant since she has dealt with a drunk Malcolm of course... but then again Rufus is her family, so she allows it.

Elaborate on your expertise in your field: The artist & column bit were his degrees at Trinity College. The musician bit is because he practices to make perfect ^^

Writing Sample: (Gabie or Addie post?)

Sum up your character in one paragraph: Malcolm Blake = Everyman.
    Everyman or everyman n.
An ordinary person, representative of the human race.

This is him - his children beg to differ, but Malcolm does not find himself overly amazing, but does pride in making his children happy.
